September hasn’t been the best month. It’s back to school season, back to long, complicated work days and back to a so-so mental health, as well. This time of the year and the return of the fall season always brings on mixed feelings and well, just overall bad feelings, too, so. Let’s just hang on and look forward to good little moments with my loved ones.
Not much else to share here, I’m afraid. 🍂
Monthly Reading Wrap-Up
September has been alright, when it comes to reading! I could have read more, but I guess I was busy or preoccupied and didn’t manage to do so…. and it’s alright, too. Some great reads and some disappointments here, let’s check them out!
FOLLOWERS ☂️ This was a really relevant, kind of terrifying story about social media and its impacts. I really enjoyed the dual POV and, yes, the messed-up POV on just how scary-dependant we can be on technology and other people’s thoughts. Really enjoyed this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SEE YOU YESTERDAY ☂️ Rachel Lynn Solomon never ever disappoints. I think this one’s probably one of my favorites of hers (though I do love them all). Loved the whole “we’re stuck in a time-loop” story, loved the relatable characters, the slooooooow burning romance, the college setting. 200 % screaming about this forever now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
THE COUNSELORS ☂️ I loved Jessica Goodman’s previous YA thrillers, so I had to read that one! Unfortunately, I felt a little bit… undewhelmed. Still a good mystery overall I’d recommend, but not the first Jessica Goodman book I’d recommend (this would be They’ll Never Catch Us!). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SEOULMATES ☂️ This was a lovely contemporary read overall! You know me, I love the friends to lovers trope and well, I was really, really happy with how that one turned out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Discoveries of The Month
TILLY IN TECHNICOLOR ☂️ Okay first, I adore this cover. Second, this book is about two neurodivergent teens (main character with ADHD, second main character with autism) meeting and slowly catching feeeeeeeelings okay. This sounds like SUCH a fantastic read and I need it.

INDUSTRY DARLING ☂️ I found out about this book thanks to Sophie’s blog post and it sounds REALLY good. It’s set in 2040 in the music industry and the main character will do anything to become the new industry’s darling. It seems like the kind of dark, messed-up story I’d love.

GOING BICOASTAL ☂️ Summer in NYC with her dad (and the girl she’s dreamed of for so long) or in California with her estranged mom (and a guy she never saw coming)? I love this kind of story with alternative timelines, so I’m excited for this one!

I’m still ahead, so yay!
Surprisingly, writing has been good. I’m still working like a turtle on my edits for my contemporary story, but I’m actually really happy about the progress I’ve been making here.
As I’m writing this, I have about half of the book left to edit. I’m eager to continue and also hoping to be done with it soon, because… well, it’s still editing and it’s exhausting at times. Let’s hope I’m making this all the best that it can be for what’s next! ✨
It also doesn’t help that I kind of have other story ideas I’d love to explore, like, SOON. Maybe with NaNoWriMo?
But can I, realistically, edit half a book in October? I’m not sure. Time will tell, I guess!
Blogging has been alright this past September! I feel like I’ve been really inspired. I kind of can’t believe the amount of blog posts I wrote… and the amount of complicated, long blog posts I did, as well.
Sometimes, it feels really good to see that, after 8 years of doing this, I still feel as inspired and as excited to publish a new blog post. So, yay for that!

I think we might start talking more about adult books on the blog, because you all seem to enjoy it and… personally, I do too! I love finding new adult gems. My sister and co-blogger compiled some of her latest finds in her blog post!
I’ve been wondering about blogging engagement for a little while, now, so… obviously, I had to write a blog post about all of my feelings. I loved hearing your impressions on the topic so much!
Next, I wrote another fun blog post about books to read based on your zodiac sign. It took me countless hours of work, but I had a lot of fun doing it and I hope you’ll enjoy it, if you haven’t checked it out just yet!
I’ve been loving YA mysteries lately (again! I used to love these books years ago), so I wanted to compile some underrated ones I’ve read lately and really enjoyed.
Last, but not least, I wanted to work on a new post where I share aesthetics and then give you a fitting book recommendation. That one took me a loooong time to put together, but I had a lot of fun with it, so I hope you all did, too!!

I definitely agree that the fall months can bring mixed feelings. While I love the aesthetic of fall, it is a stressful time because it does stress new beginnings and getting back to work, which can’t always be easy.
In other news, Followers sounds really interesting, but also quite scary! I’ve also never heard of Going Bi-Coastal, but that is definitely a book that I think I would like. I love books set in NYC, even if this book is half in California as well. I do hope you have a good October, Marie!

I’m so glad your writing went well! I was planning to join NaNoWriMo too, but it’s already almost the half of October and I haven’t completed majority of my writing tasks to be completely ready and set to write. I’ll likely end up using NaNo as an extra month to plan
