Guess who yet had another complicated, time-consuming idea and didn’t let go of it until it was done?
Right. Me again, oops.
I’ve been doing seasonal book recommendations on the blog for a little while, now, but I wanted to spice things up a little bit and I thought… hey. Don’t people love aesthetics? I mean, I know I do like spending (read, losing) time on Pinterest, especially when I’m drafting a book, but also whenever I just want to dream a little bit… and whenever I read a book and review it, as well.
Today, I compiled some fall aesthetics with some books I recommend. Whether autumn is the spooky season for you, or the one where you like to read cosy romance, I tried to find some books that would match your needs here… and your favorite aesthetics of that time of the year.
I hope you’ll enjoy this post! Please let me know in comments if you do and if you’d like more of these kind of posts!

1. My witchy book recommendation

A Lesson in Vengeance, Victoria Lee
Felicity returns to her campus perched in the Catskills Mountains, a year after the tragic death of her girlfriend. In these walls haunted by spirits of old students, surrounded by dark magic, Felicity’s trying to leave the past behind. Yet, when Ellis, a new student interested in the dark school’s past, comes to ask for her help to write her book, Felicity agrees…
This book has an absolutely stunning, spooky and witchy dark-academia atmosphere that is, if you ask me, absolutely perfect for fall season and for any fans of these kind of very atmospheric, immersive books.

2. My rainy day recommendation

Serious Moonlight, Jenn Bennett
Mystery-book aficionado Birdie is working the graveyard shift at a historic Seattle hotel for the summer, where she meets Daniel, the hotel’s van driver… who shares her love for mystery stories. When a famous reclusive writer comes into the hotel, they decide to investigate…
Jenn Bennett writes some of the best YA contemporaries ever and I particularily think this one fits the bill when it comes to rainy day kind of reads. It’s set in rainy Seattle, it has this hint of mystery, this hint of romance and it’s just a wonderful wonderful read overall!

3. My bookish recommendation

The Library of Lost Things, Laura Taylor Namey
Darcy Wells spends her life between the pages of all of the books she’s read, finding there a way to avoid her mother’s hoarding. When her apartment complex is endangered, when Asher walks into the bookstore she works in, and into her life… her precious life’s balance is suddenly compromised.
This is one of my favorite YA contemporary read and it’s cruelly underrated, if you ask me. It’s perfect if you love to curl up with a good book at fall time, it’s a soft, quiet yet really deep and hard-hitting contemporary and I just adored it.

4. My spooky recommendation

The Walls Around Us, Nova Ren Suma
On one side, there’s Violet’s an eighteen-years old dancer a couple of days away from her dream life. On the other side, there’s Amber, stuck at Aurora Hills juvenile detention center for way too long… and in between them, there’s Orianna, the key to all of their darkest secrets…
If you’re looking for a spooky book, look no further, this is it. Honestly, it’s hard to explain this book without giving too much away, but it’s one of these fascinating, unsettling stories that will keep you on edge until you read the very last pages.

5. My comfy read recommendation

Foolish Hearts, Emma Mills
When Claudia accidentally eavesdrop on Paige and Iris, THE it-couple’s break up, she finds herself having to deal with Iris… and finds herself paired up with her for the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well. Senior year promises to be… complicated, indeed.
Emma Mills writes the comfiest kind of stories, the ones you just want to devour while you’re comfortably wrapped up in your bed covers. This one has unexpected but wonderful female friendships, adorable romance and it’s just so, so much fun to read overall!

Love the aesthetics!!! You are so good at this – I haven’t read any of those, but seeing the first one made me think instantly of The desth of Mrs Westaway from Ruth Ware. Especially that tarot is involved in the story!
Ahh thank you so much, that’s so kind of you to say 🥺 Hmm I haven’t heard of that book before, I’ll have to check it out!!
Love those aesthetics, so beautiful 😍 I’m always in for cozy reads and weather. It’s terrible hot here, it feels like summer.

Yes!!! I love the idea behind this post so much. Now I wanna do something similar but for winter (is that stealing? 😭) but I’m 100% sure it’s not gonna happen because a) I’m lazy AF and don’t really wanna do anything & b) i feel like im stealing and c) UHM, HOW DO YOU PAIR THEM. I NEED ADVICE
Anyway love your blog 😀
Thank you so much! Not going to lie, it’s a complicated idea that put me a couple hours -strike that, days 😂😭 to put together. If you feel like doing your own version of it, of course you can but a link back to this blog post that inspired you would be very appreciated <3
Thank you!!
If I do decide to do one, I’ll be sure to link back 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
I would pick the comfy fall aesthetic because I’m not big on fall being spooky. All these books sound like good reads.
Yay, comfy’s my favorite! Thank you for stopping by 🙂
All these books sound so good.
They really are! 🙂
Omg this post is so fun- I love it!!
Ahh thank you, so happy you like it!! 🙂
This is such a great concept! I absolutely love the idea, and definitely want to see more aesthetics recommending me books!
Personally, I’m not much of a seasonal reader, but some of these aesthetics had me curious nonetheless! I think all of your picks matched the aesthetics and titles so well! I’ve read two out of the five books, and you definitely got those vibes right, and the reason I avoided the others tended to be that they were more spooky or unsettling, fitting your other aesthetics perfectly!
Please, please do this again!
Ahhh thank you so much Malka, you’re too kind, I’m so happy you enjoyed this post! 🥺🥺 I think I’ll try doing it again sometime soon! <3
Honestly I was more of a comfy fall aesthetic! I love this post!
Ahh thank you so much, so happy you liked it!! <3
