I feel like I’m destined to have complicated blog post ideas that take me days to compile, lately and I’m not sure why. This idea of pairing YA books with zodiac signs certainly isn’t an original one: if you’re doing a quick research, you’ll find recommendations like that left and right.
That being said, I really felt like trying to do my own version of this, so… here it is! I had a lot of fun writing this, so really hope you’ll enjoy it and please let me know in comments if you enjoy these kind of recommendations!
Note: obviously, each of the zodiac sign’s personalities isn’t detailed, here. I only mentioned some key personality traits for each sign, fitting with the book recommendation I imagined!

Aries ♈
Personality traits: ambitious, brave, passionate, competitive, driven.
My YA Book Recommendation for Aries

Not Here to Be Liked, Michelle Quach
Eliza Quan is destined to be her school’s editor in chief and she knows it…. up until Len, an ex-jock, decides to run against her. She then spills her frustration in an essay that goes viral, inspiring an entire feminist movement to start…
I found this book absolutely EXCELLENT. I loved Eliza, she’s intense at times and can seem cold, but she’s so driven, determined and absolutely passionate about what she does, as well, I adored her. I think this book would be a lovely rec for all Aries recognizing themselves!

Taurus ♉️
Personality traits: intelligent, hard-working, consistent, loyal, ambitious.
My YA Book Recommendation for Taurus
A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea and Tomorrow, Laura Taylor Namey
Lila didn’t plan to spend her summer in England, to relax and reset after a lot of tough times back at home in Florida. Thrown out of her comfort zone, Lila’s ready to spend a terrible summer, up until she meets Orion…
More than a romance, this YA contemporary is a warm sweater you just want to wrap yourself in. It’s about finding life outside of your comfort zone, it’s about love, friendships, family, a lot of delicious food. I feel like it’s perfectly aligned with Taurus’ values of loyalty and hard work and, most of it all, fits in with their love of bucolic environments.

Gemini ♊️
Personality traits: playful, curious, social butterflies, fearless thinkers.
My YA Book Recommendation for Gemini

The Girls I’ve Been, Tess Sharpe
The Girls I’ve Been is about Nora, daughter of a con artist, taken hostage in a bank heist with her ex-boyfriend and new girlfriend. Honestly, it’s best to go into this book blind. It’s a goddamn rollercoaster I couldn’t stop reading and adored.
I’m picking it for Gemini, because I feel like it’d appeal to the always-on-the-move, fearless thinkers of the lot. Fast paced, exciting, leaving you so curious about what happened before and what will happen next, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Cancer ♋️
Personality traits: emotional, self-protective, loyal, committed, highly intuitive, distant.
My YA Book Recommendation for Cancer
When We Were Infinite, Kelly Loy Gilbert
Honestly, this book immediately came to mind when I read about Cancer’s personalities.
In this story, all Beth wants is for her group of friends to stay together, especially with college looming on the horizon… and yet. This is a highly emotional, tough to read at times, kind of story, but if you love hard-hitting contemporaries, this one’s for you. It fits here because I think this perfectly goes along with the loyal, committed, caring deeply about people close to them traits of Cancer.

Leo ♌️
Personality traits: theatrical, passionate, leaders, brave, optimistic.
My YA Book Recommendation for Leo

The Thousandth Floor, Katharine McGee
I’m picking The Thousandth Floor here for the drama-lover, loves basking in the spotlight kind of Leo.
This book is set in Manhattan, in 2118, where people live in a gigantic, thousandth-floors tower they never, ever get out of. Told from multiple POV, it tells the story of very different teenagers with very different lives colliding, making a whole mess out of things. If you want a futuristic, dramatic kind of Gossip Girl read, you’ll LOVE this.

Virgo ♍️
Personality traits: methodical, humble, logical, meticulous, supportive, hard-working.
My YA Book Recommendation for Virgo
In Search of Us, Ava Dellaira
In Search of Us is a multi-generational story where we follow both mother and daughter: the mother, as she falls in love and the daughter, in search of her roots. It’s a beautiful book with lots of highs and lows and definitely a lot of emotions, I loved it very much.
I’m not sure why this book came to mind for Virgo. I think, maybe, it’s because this is a story about a quest, about finding your roots and Virgos are meticulous and logical, but it’s also such a good, good book, I just recommend it to everyone okay.

Libra ♎️
Personality traits: people-pleasing, indecisive, charming, seeks harmony.
My YA Book Recommendation for Libra

Far From the Tree, Robin Benway
Maybe it’s the Libra in me picking this book I adore, but I genuinely think this is a good fit here : this is a story filled with emotions, about seeking harmony, finding yourself and your own roots. I love it.
This is the story of Grace, looking for her own biological family after having given up her own baby for adoption. She reconnects with her two siblings after discovering their existence. It’s absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and I love it.

Scorpio ♏️
Personality traits: determined, ambitious, enigmatic, calculating.
My YA Book Recommendation for Scorpio
The Fever King, Victoria Lee
In the former United States, Noam, survivor of a viral magic, is now able to control technology. His power comes to the attention of the minister of defense, so Noam agrees to work with them… while he, in fact, hopes to destroy them from within.
Honestly this book just goes really well with Scorpio’s determined, ambitious and “strikes when you least expect it” personality. Also it’s a brilliant work of science-fiction and one of my favorite books ever, so…. read it!

Sagittarius ♐️
Personality traits: caring, compassionate, independant, artistic, traveler.
My YA Book Recommendation for Sagittarius

Destination Anywhere, Sara Barnard
Peyton starts college thinking her life will finally be different. When she’s let down in the worst way, she books a plane ticket to the other side of the world and, suddenly and with no warning, leaves everything behind…
This is such an excellent YA contemporary I wish everyone would read. I feel like it matches so well with the adventurous, independant Sagittarius, too!

Capricorn ♑️
Personality traits: ambitious, perseverant, driven, practical, materialistic.
My YA Book Recommendation for Capricorn
Bright Burning Stars, A.K. Small
I feel like Bright Burning Stars definitely appeals to the ambitious, perseverant, I won’t give up Capricorn personality.
Best friends Marine and Kate have trained together at the Paris Opera Ballet School for years, now. When the body of a student’s uncovered in the dorms before their final year, they start questioning themselves, and each other, wondering how far they’d go to be the best.

Aquarius ♒️
Personality traits: revolutionnary, analytical, creative, guarded.
My YA Book Recommendation for Aquarius

Green Rising, Lauren James
Aquarius’ revolutionary, wants to make the world a better place personality immediately made me want to match this sign with Green Rising.
This story’s set in the near future, on the brink of an ecological catastrophe. Gabrielle, a climate change activist, sees her life change when she discovers the ability to grow plants from her skin. Hester, the daughter of a millionaire oil tycoon, slowly discovers the truth about the family business while Theo, struggling to makes ends meet, is hired to work for Hester’s family…
You’ll have to read this book to see how they all meet and what they all do, but it’s just really good and way, way too relevant to what is happening to our world.

Pisces ♓️
Personality traits: sensitive, imaginative, romantic, dreamy, naive.
My YA Book Recommendation for Pisces
It Sounded Better in my Head, Nina Kenwood
Is there a better match for a dreamy Pisces than a book called It Sounded Better in my Head?!
Okay, I didn’t pick this book solely because of its title. This is a soft, quiet contemporary read about Natalie, learning that her parents are suddenly getting a divorce and her two best friends are actually… more than friends. It’s a beautiful story about how you’re imagining your life to be and how it actually turns out, it has an adorable romance, a very relatable main character and I just love this book okay.

What an interesting way of recommending books. 😊
Thank you, so happy you enjoyed it!! 🙂
This was fun! I’m a Scorpio, but I haven’t read that book. I guess I’ll have to try it. I did like the Libra one.
Yay! I adore Far From the Tree, such a beautiful, underrated book. Thank you so much for your comment! 🙂
This is such a good post! I’m a virgo and I don’t really fit any criteria I think 😀 I’ve never heard of this book before but I’ll definitely look into it! 🙂
I can understand that, I don’t find that I relate to most of the Libra traits, either! Thank you so much, Kat!
I love these recs!!
Oh thank you so much!! 🙂
Now I have to add Far From the Tree on wish list to see if I find it perfect for my Libra sign. Amazing list!
Oh I’d love to hear what you think! Thank you so much for reading! 🙂
I came to the end, which such Capricon-ish expectations, and I get competitve ballet?!
Okay, joke aside, I did add to my to-read list but it’s not exactly what I would have picked for a Capricorn. Or maybe me-myself- Capricorn. I’m not so much into the competitive side of any personality traits that are usually assigned to my zodiac sign. But it’s definitely not so far from the truth 😂
P.s. I’m pretty sure last time I was able to post a comment without any issue, but this time I keep getting a “Nonce verification failed”. Not sure it’s a problem on my side or not, but I wanted to let you know!
I’d be so curious to hear what you think would be fitting for a Capricorn! It’s so tough to make recommendations like that, it took me a couple of days to do it all and every person is different, so it’s impossible to find the perfect recommendation. Even if I’d love to ahah 🙂
Oh thank you for letting me know about this, I’ll have to see if I find what the issue is. Thank you!! 🙂
To be honest? I’ve no idea! I think that most of the time the perception goes to Capricon=rutheless overarchiver, and I would enjoy some more kind version of it.
But this was still a very cute post! You did great!
Oh I can understand that! I often feel like my sign (Libra) is reduced to a charming, kind of vain person and I know I’m not like that ahaha. Thank you, Cam! 🙂
My birthday is on a cusp so I never seem to belong to either sign. I’m stuck somewhere between Aquarius and Pisces. Ha! Fun list.
Ahah that’s very cool, you’re unique that way! 🥰🥰 thank you so much!!
Great post!! My zodiac (Aries) doesn’t fit my personality at all, but I love your book rec for it!! Not Here to be Liked sounds great and lowkey reminds me of the Spinster Club books by Holly Bourne 😄
Ahh thank you so much, Caro! I hope you’ll enjoy the book, I adore it! <3
Ooh you’re a libra too! I’d better check out Far From the Tree 😉
YAY for libras! I hope you’ll read it, it’s fantastic – and made me cry, as well, ahah!
