Cue the drama. The movie is doomed before they even start shooting . . . until a real-life plot twist unfolds behind the camera when Emma and Sophia start seeing each other through a different lens. Suddenly their rivalry is starting to feel like an actual rom-com.

I ENJOYED…

• I Think I Love You was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and I’m so happy to say it met all of my expectations, yay!
• Told from 2 different POV, this story is about Emma, a hopeless romantic, and Sophia, an anti-relationship-love-is-terrrible-and-ends-in-tears kind of person. Sophia’s a lesbian and Emma is bisexual, but she isn’t out to her parents just yet. They’re both passionate, fierce characters and they always want to fight for what they believe in, they care about their friends so much as well, which made me immediately love them both.
• Emma’s side of the story was lovely. She’s yearning for a great love story, losing hope and regaining it again. One of my favorite parts of I Think I Love You was seeing her struggling with coming out to her parents and finally understanding how important it was for herself to do so.
• Sophia’s story was wonderful to see, too. She’s struggling to find her place with her group of friends after leaving for Paris for a little while, trying to handle the divorce of her parents. While she seems like such a cynic at first, I quickly grew fond of her.
• One of the best things about this story was the focus on friendships. I loved seeing how close they all were and it was so lovely to see them support each other, be there for each other, but also put together their little matchmaking schemes to make each other happy. I’m a sucker for great groups of friends so I was SO happy, here.
• Obviously, the romance takes a big part of the story. It’s an f/f enemies to lovers kind of romance and I just loved seeing their feelings grow with time. From anger to understanding, from little feelings growing into this I-cant-stop-thinking-about-you state of mind… I rooted for them to get together. Moreover, their interactions were GOLD. From the banter to the adorable flirting, it made me smile more than once.
• I need to take a moment to talk about the setting, too: we could see the streets of New York City and Washington Square Park, the Flatiron building and more and… I don’t know. Something about this book made me nostalgic of New York City SO MUCH.
• Tiny appreciation time for the French words scattered in this story without any mistakes -believe me this happens a lot- and movie references that made me smile.

I HAD A HARD TIME WITH…

• I can’t quite pinpoint why this book isn’t a 5-stars read, I’m just not getting the feeling, you know? Still, I don’t really have anything particular that made me mad or sad about this book!

If you’re looking for a heartwarming, adorable f/f romance to fall for, I’d definitely recommend I Think I Love You. While I think some might be put off by the tiny bit of drama in it, I still personally feel like a lot of YA contemporary lovers will fall for it. Recommending it!
