Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is Top Ten Books That will Make You Laugh, (or at least chuckle). To be honest, I had a hard time coming up with such books (does that mean I’m a depressing person?!), so I decided to go with books that made me smile. Because they were funny, because they were too damn cute, because it was awkward, just, because they made me smile. Click on the title of the books to check out their synopsis!
1 • Kindred Spirits, Rainbow Rowell
A book about a girl, crazy about Star Wars? I might not be the biggest Star Wars fan, but I can always relate to the fangirling part of that book. Garanteed to put a smile on your face.
2 • Don’t Get Caught, Kurt Dinan
I recently reviewed that book, and it was a great, entertaining read if you’re just looking to relax, have fun, and laugh a little bit. Seriously, the pranks are great.
3 • Isla and the Happily Ever After, Stephanie Perkins
This book put a stupid smile on my face the whole time, really. Because I’m kind of a marshmallow, but because it’s cute, funny at times, and it’s just one of those books that cheers you up instantly.
4 • Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, Becky Albertalli
Another contemporary that should make you smile, especially when talking about Simon’s family. I mean, they all watch reality shows together. HOW COOL is that.
5 • The Rest of Us Just Live Here, Patrick Ness
That book is really ambitious, and I’m really glad to have read it. The weird situations and differences between the “Chosen Ones”, and us ordinary people, did put a smile on my face. It’s just so weird/funny/cool/ thankyouPatrickNessforyourimagination.
6 • Since You’ve Been Gone, Morgan Matson
On a quest to find her missing best friend, it’s obvious that there’ll be some obstacles. Some funny ones, some weird ones, and just an adventure with a great friend. This book is just great.
7 • Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, Morgan Matson
Another of Morgan Matson’s books on here, but well, she really does know how to write great contemporary books that are garanteed to put a smile on your face. Another road trip, another adventure, a bunch of playlists and weird situations.
8 • The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, E. Lockhart
If We Were Liars is my favorite book by hers, it’s definitely not one that made me smile….This one, however, was really ingenious, and I liked Frankie, her way of thinking and everything.
9 • Will Grayson, Will Grayson, John Green & David Levithan
I couldn’t go by without quoting a John Green book, ahah. I think this one, however, was brilliant, diverse, and just one of those books that make you laugh while making you realize important things. Those kind of books are the best ones.
10 • Let’s Get Lost, Ali Alsaid
To be honest, it took me a minute or two to remember what happened in that book…I read too many books, ahah. But it was really a great read, and with some funny situations that will surely put a smile on your face.
I
This book put a stupid smile on my face the whole time, really. Because I’m kind of a marshmallow, but because it’s cute, funny at times, and it’s just one of those books that cheers you up instantly.

YEEEE HAPPY BOOKS TO ADD TO MY TBR. Which is good because they will make me HAPPY and bad because my TBR is already killing me very slowly. I’ve read: Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks and Let’s Get Lost and I agree for them all! DEFINITELY put a smile on this face more than once so I’m expecting the same for the other seven 😉
If I’m feeling down, Kasie West books are AWESOME. I’ve only read two (the Distance Between Us and On the Fence) but they are SO FUNNY and mood-lifting and so great to read when I’m sad 🙂
Ohhh, well please DO READ all of these books, I WANT to know if you like them or not, hopefully you will, and we can fangirl a lot about those! <3 I really feel like we'd be great fangirls together, haha 😛
Ohhh, thank you so, so much for the suggestion, I've been meaning to add some of Kasie West books to my TBR, because contemporary, and they seem awesome! I really need to read those 🙂
I will read THEM ALL 🙂 I hope I do love them too! I think our fangirling will lead to the destruction of the universe BUT WHATEVER. FANGIRLS MUST FANGIRL.
Aha, you’re welcome! So far Kasie West has been really fun and exciting, hope you enjoy them as well! Tell me what you think and the universe will bow to out feet 🙂
Oh yes, I can’t wait, but I will, very patiently for your feelings on ALL of these books, and I hope there’ll be lots of them. My main mission is life is to give you book recommendations that will make you THE HAPPIEST. 😀
I will, I’ll add her books to my TBR right now…but do you have a suggestion, which one should I start with? 😀
And I can’t wait to read and feel for ALL of these books (and I will go along very impatiently until all are read). I very very enthuasiastically approve of that mission. WHOOO.
Yes! I’ve only ever read two of her books but I’ll definitely be picking up more! I started with the Distance Between Us and it’s a really great start to her novels because it’s fun and light 🙂 I read On the Fence afterwards and really feel the same thing. The two stories are different but the tone is so fun for both! Aha, just start with whatever feels interesting I think XD It’s easy to get it I her books and writing, I hope you enjoy!
At the moment though, I say read the Distance Between Us. I LOVE the main character and love interest I need someone to talk to and share feels with. I lent it to a friend and when she finished it, she was happy and all but we didn’t share the FEELS yaknowwhatimsayig? I FEEL IMCOMPLETE WIHOUT YOUR FEELS NEXT TO ME. I would say On the Fence but that needs a reread because I barely remember it XD
THANK YOU, your advice is always on point, and I’m definitely adding BOTH those books on my TBR, because I feel like I NEED to read them right now. I’m sure I will love them, and oh yes, I’ll make sure to come by you so we can fangirl about it. There’s nothing like it 😀
AHA no problem! 😛 I can’t wait for you to read these! SO SO FUN and so lovely. EHE, you will be the first person I come to *wink wink*
I am SO impatient now. You’re making me want to buy books ahah 😛
Hey, even I need a marshmallow book once in a while 🙂 Nothing wrong with this list! I limited myself to science fiction books that will make you laugh. (And yes, it includes more than just Douglas Adams.) My TTT.
Aww, well I’m glad to hear that 🙂 Ohh, I’m looking forward to see what you came up with! Thank you! 🙂
Kindred Spirits is about a Star Wars fan? Why did I not know this? Sign me up!
I liked Will Grayson, Will Grayson too. Have you read the sequel/spinoff book about Tiny?
YES IT IS! I don’t know, but you should read it, all of the Star Wars references are a load of fun 🙂
Oh no, I haven’t read that book, but it’s on my TBR. Did you read it, and liked it? 😀
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
I haven’t either, just wanted to know what your thoughts on it were if you’ve already read it.
Well, I’ll remember to stop by you and tell you EVERYTHING, once I read it 😀
Haha, I’ll be waiting.
Star Wars fangirl? Kindred Spirits needs to be added to my TBR. Thanks for sharing your list 🙂
Oh yes, it is! If you like Star Wars and contemporaries, you should enjoy this story, the references are always so funny 🙂
Thank YOU for your sweet comment! 🙂
Simon and Will Grayson Will Grayson are both on my list as well! I love both of those alot, and they always cheer me up if I need it. I love Morgan Matson a lot too, I don’t know why I didn’t put one of her books on my list! I want to read Kindred Spirits too, because I love Rainbow Rowell, but haven’t gotten around to it yet!
here’s my TTT!
Ohh that’s so great we have books in common! And if you love Rainbow Rowell, you should love Kindred Spirits! 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by, Caroline! 🙂
I want to read Kindred Spirits so bad! I’m trying to find a place to buy it
Ohhh, you should, it’s such a great story, but it might be a bit too short, I wanted more, ahah! 🙂 I hope you’ll get to it soon 🙂
Isla made me smile, too. Great choices!
Thank you so, so much 🙂
Books that make you smile sound like my kind of books! I will definitely keep this list in mind when I’m ready for a nice, happy read!
Ohhh really? Well that makes me SO happy, I’m glad we share the same taste in books. I hope you’ll love those 🙂 Thank you so much Ali !
Good to know Kindred Spirit is funny! I must get to reading it!
Oh it really is, made me smile a lot! I hope you’ll love it as much as I did 🙂 Thank you !
Great picks Marie! All of those books I’ve read have made me smile, and I have no doubt the ones still on my to-read list will as well 😀
I’ve heard so many great things about Morgan Matson (not to mention you featured two of her books this week!) so I can’t wait I actually get started on one of her books!
Also I LOVED Isla, Simon Vs, and The Rest of Us Just Live Here, all three definitely made me smile. The first two because they had such cute romances and the third because it was just such an amazing story I couldn’t help but love it ❤️
Great picks for this week!
Thank you so much Beth! <3 Oh yes, you have to read Morgan Matson, on your way to read all the great contemporaries, she's a must-stop! She's so great at writing realistic characters and relationships 🙂
That’s all right 😀
Yes, maybe I could try and fit one or two of her books in this month. I definitely want to start Since You’ve Been Gone soon because it sounds brilliant and there’s so many great reviews for it as well! ❤️
Oh yes, well Since You’ve Been Gone is one of my favorite books. It’s quite big for a contemporary, around like 400 pages, but it’s all worth it, very cute, yet very deep, and Morgan Matson is one of the best contemporary authors I know 🙂
Ohh that’s high praise then. Honestly I can’t wait to get started. I may have to bump her books up my to-read list a bit 😀
It is, I hope you won’t be disappointed ahah. But she’s such a good writer, I think, I hope you’ll love her books 🙂
I’m sure I won’t be. Plenty of people have said they’ve loved Morgan Matson’s books so they’ve obviously got quite a following 🙂
Honestly they’ve been on my to-read list for a while now but it’s only since I’ve been on WordPress that they’ve been bumped up my to-read list 😀
Well I’m really looking forward to all of your thoughts on her books! I am going to start reading Second Chance Summer today, and I’m so excited, because, well, I loved everything by her so far, and heard such great things about this one! 🙂
I will post a review as soon as I finish one of them 🙂
The main one of hers I’ve heard of is Since You’ve Been Gone but I’m sure all of them are just as good, maybe I can move onto Second Chance Summer afterwards 🙂 I really hope you enjoy it!
I can’t wait 🙂 I didn’t have time to start reading it yesterday, but I hope I will this weekend, it sounds like a great story, and well, Morgan Matson didn’t disappoint for now 🙂
Hopefully you get to start it this weekend, and yeah hopefully it’s amazing too! I can’t wait to see your review for it 😀
argh. I still need to read all of these lol. My TTT
Oh yes, you should, they are all VERY good 🙂
Great list! Any Rainbow Rowell, Stephanie Perkins or Morgan Matson book is great and witty 🙂 And I’ve just yesterday finished reading Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda (in one day) and I fell completely in love with it! It’s so funny and cute and I should have still added it to my list this week 🙂
Oh yay, so glad to hear you like all of those books! 😀 Thank you so much for stopping by 🙂
Great list – so many amazing books! Will Grayson, Will Grayson also made my list this week as its just such a good book that definitely made me laugh! Both of Morgan Matson’s books definitely made me smile too!
Heres my TTT
Aw yay, so glad to hear that, I love finding people with the same taste in books than I do 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!
I love this weeks topic, I am such a fan of books that can make me laugh. You’ve got some great picks this weeks, and I am definitely going to add a few of these to my own TBR. Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂 You can check out my picks here.
You’re welcome, thank you, and I hope you’ll love some of these books as much as I did! 🙂 Thank you so much Charnell 🙂
I need to read Kindred Spirits asap !
Oh yes, please do, it’s AWESOME 😀
I can’t believe I’ve read none of these books! I normally look to middle grade books when I need to be cheered up, they never seem to get too dark.
Imogen’s Typewriter. <3
Ohh, well that’s good too! I don’t read enough MG, but I’m sure there are fantastic books to read! Maybe you could recommend some? 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by, Imogen! 🙂
I agree, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a soopah cute and entertaining read–I definitely LOLed many times over reading through it! The rest of these I haven’t read/haven’t gotten the chance to read yet! Shame on me.
I usually pick up Terry Pratchett novels when I’m really looking for a laugh. I’m not sure why, but those books are my humor spirit-animals.
Great list this week! Here’s my TTT. Happy book-ing to you!
Ohh, well you have to read those books then, they are all so, SO good 🙂 Thank you so much, happy reading to you too! 🙂
You’re welcome!
ooh yes to Isla and Kindred Spirits!!
Yay, so glad you agree! Those books are just SO great 😀
They really are!
OMG Simon is just the funniest being there is (aside from Sutter Keely)! If it’s not a crime to read personal emails, I’d love to do that forever on Simon and Blue’s exchange of convos 😛
Ahah, OH YES PLEASE, I would love to do that as well, it would make me smile way too much ahah <3
These are all such cute, sweet books 🙂 All the ones on this list definitely made me smile a lot. Thank you for sharing this list, Marie 🙂
Aww, thank you so much Shar, I’m glad you agree 🙂 <3
YES, Frankie Landau-Banks! It’s one of my favourite books ever. I always have a small hope that one day E Lockhart will write a sequel because I want to know what Frankie’s up to now so bad! I don’t think she will, but she definitely should.
Oh yes, a sequel would be awesome, I’d love to know what Frankie’s doing a few years later… Well, we can always hope, ahah, or imagine it ourselves 🙂
I loved Isla!! 🙂 I also have quite a few of these on my TBR … 🙂 nice list
I loved Isla 🙂 and I have quite a few of these on my TBR too 🙂
Thank you so much! I hope you’ll love all those books 🙂
I hope so too!! I am sorry for commenting twice!! My WordPress decided to do its own thing and didn’t show me that I had commented, so I thought you never got it!!
Ahah, oh don’t apologize, it happens to me all the time as well, WordPress and its weirdness, ahah 😛
It may have just been my phone ?
Ahah, well phones are weird sometimes as well 😛
That is true!
I love how two of these are Morgan Matson books! Her books are literally contemporary at its finest, in my opinion. I can’t wait to get my hands on Kindred Spirits. (one’s coming in the mail soon.) I’ve heard great things about it! It took me a while to locate a copy though. 😛 I love rereading books like Carry On for a smile on my face.
Oh I completely agree with you, she’s one of the masters at writing contemporaries, I swear, I love her 🙂 OH, I can’t wait to know whether you liked this book or not. It was too short, but really a cute story 🙂 Thank you so much Aila <3
Great list! So many of these I still need to read, especially the Morgan Matson books!
Oh yes, you have to read her books, I feel like you could really love her 🙂 Thank you so much Ashley <3
She wrote Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things to Mend– she’s Katie Finn too. 😛 and I LOVE the Broken Hearts and Revenge series. Final book comes out next month! So I think I will definitely like her other books as Morgan Matson.
Aww right, I keep forgetting that for some reason. Well, more books to read now, thank you for reminding me that 😛
Simon vs was just so cute! I still remember some of the HP references, which put a smile to my face when I read it just because. Great choices, Marie – I’ve been meaning to pick up Amy and Roger but totally forgot about it until now, oops. 😛
Oh yes, it was so cute, I couldn’t stop smiling like an idiot, ahah 🙂 READ IT, oh, I would love to know what you think about that book 🙂 Thank you so much! <3
Great List! Totally agree with you on Simon Vs The Homosapiens! Kindred Spirits is already in my Tbr! I hope I’ll get to it soon. 😀
Thank you so, so much Raven! I hope you’ll read and love Kindred Spirits as much as I did 🙂
OMG! I HAVE READ 6 OF THOSE BOOKS!!! Totally agree as well 😀 They were all hilarious or at least so awesome I had to smile a lot. Great TTT, Marie!
OH YES, all the books in common, that’s so great! 😀 Sometimes, there are books that aren’t even that funny, but they are just THAT good that you can’t help yourself but smile 🙂 Thank you! <3
Exactly! They aren’t meant to be laugh-out-loud-hilarious, but the feeling they give you makes you happy nonetheless.
So many books on your post that I just NEED TO READ RIGHT NOW. Patrick Ness! Simon vs., Will Grayson, Will Grayson! And yeah, if you say they make you smile I’ll just add all of these on my TBR because who doesn’t need happy, cute reads every now and again? Thanks for the recommendations!
Oh yes, you should read all of those books, I would love to hear your thoughts about those! Books that are just making us happy are the best books. thank you Annika! <3
