Hi friends! It seems like I am in a bucket list kind of mood since, after sharing with all of you my blogging bucket list earlier this month, I am now apparently heading into summer bucket lists.

Summertime is always a time I look forward to and, if you ask me what would actually be on my summer time bucket list, I might answer with this small list, such as:
- Travel
- Relax about blogging
- Read maybe a normal amount of books, but also without feeling too much pressure,
- Travel
- Most likely a lot of other personal goals I’m aiming for as always, but well,
- PRESSURE of the bucket list, friends.
So I’m taking it easy and seeing where things go and, in the meantime, I’ll just do what I do best on here and talk about BOOKS.
I was tagged by the wonderful Tiffany to do this original, amazing and sunshiny kind of tag, the Summer Bucket List Book Tag! I loved these prompts and I hope you’ll have as much fun reading my answers as I had doing this tag. Fingers crossed!
The Rules
- Link back to the original creator in your post.
- Feel free to use any of the tag graphics in your post, or create your own!
- Tag 5 other people at the end of your post, and let them know you’ve tagged them.

All of the beautiful tag graphics in this post below are made by Tiffany.
The Summer I Turned Pretty, Jenny Han
I read this series a long, long time ago, but it will always be one of these series that remind me of summertime, beaches and childhood friends. The main character isn’t without her flaws, but still I have fond memories of this series.
“For me, it was almost like winter didn’t count. Summer was what mattered. My whole life was measured in summers.”
The Wrath and the Dawn, Renee Ahdieh
I wonder why I don’t scream about this duology more often… I really should, because I adore it with all of my heart, from the writing to the story to the world to its characters, I loved everything and the romance had my heart, too and AHH SOMEONE SCREAM WITH ME ABOUT THIS.
“You have a beautiful laugh. Like the promise of tomorrow.”
In Search of Us, Ava Dellaira
Another book that, I think, deserves all of the praise and love, this very, very very beautiful, multigenerational contemporary with the journey of a teenager trying to find her father. I adored the characters and it was such, such a beautiful read.
“The funny thing about beauty, James writes, is that in no way does its presence negate the truth of suffering, of injustice, of pain, but it does stand stalwart in its own right, as its own truth.”
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Taylor Jenkins Reid
Will I ever stop thinking about Evelyn Hugo? I think the answer is no and there isn’t a second where this book isn’t in the back of my mind. So…. I’m guessing starstruck is kind of the right word for this one.
“Never let anyone make you feel ordinary.”

Red, White & Royal Blue, Casey McQuinston
I was very nervous to read this book because… well, you probably all know how much hype it has been getting. I had a feeling I would love it and… I’m glad to say my gut was right, I loved it SO much and couldn’t put it down either. It made me laugh, I rooted for these characters and ahhhh.
“He rolls onto his side and listens, trails the back of his hand across the pillow next to him and imagines Henry lying opposite in his own bed, two parentheses enclosing 3,700 miles.”
Girl Against The Universe, Paula Stokes
This book. This book is one of my favorite books and I just loved it SO much, the main character is one of my favorites ahh and the romance was just so sweet and perfect, too. Such a wonderful read.
“How can something feel so crucial in the moment and then seem completely trivial after the fact?”

Nothing Left to Burn, Heather Ezell
Okay so honest question here: WHY AREN’T YOU READING THIS BOOK? I’m just picking this one to scream at you to read this. No. Okay I promise there’s a reason, this book, its writing, the flashbacks and reality, the tension, the characters, everything about it was so compelling and incredible. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
“I never wanted a fire to claim.”
Starfish, Akemi Dawn Bowman
Starfish was one of my favorite reads just as well and the main character, Kiko, just had my heart from page one. I loved seeing her grow as the story went on and I was rooting for her and loving her right from the very beginning.
“We all have to dream our own dreams. We only get one life to live—live it for yourself, not anyone else.”
Natalie Tan’s book of luck & fortune, Roselle Lim
I had to mention this book for that one, because it’s the first that came to mind and I think the first I will remember for its mouth-watering food. This was a beautiful story overall and it just made me so so very hungry and it’s filled with recipes so… you know, if you want to try everything out… I know I do.
“If my regrets were fireflies, the brilliance of their dance would turn night into day.”
Our Year Of Maybe, Rachel Lynn Solomon
It took me kind of a while to come up with an answer for this one…. there are so many books I adore and so many books that inspire me, in so many different ways. I think I want to, at the moment, talk about Rachel Lynn Solomon’s Our Year Of Maybe because it inspires me so much in the way it deals with this close childhood friends relationship, in the way it has fantastic three dimensional main characters and in the way this is most definitely the kind of book that inspire me to write.
“It takes a lot of energy to love someone this much without being loved back the way you want. It drains you.”

Oh my gosh, The Wrath & the Dawn *did* have the most fireworks-y romance of all time! I didn’t love the sequel, but I would like to re-read TW&TD sometime.
Ahhh right? I’m so happy you read and enjoyed it, too! The sequel has mixed reviews for sure, I personally still loved it 🙂 and yes, I’d love to re-read it just as well… but so many books… haha 🙂
thank you so much for your sweet comment!
Yay!! Thanks for tagging me, Marie! The questions to this tag are so good, and I loved reading your answers to them! I really really wanna read Starfish, and I can’t wait for my copy of Red, White & Royal Blue to arrive so that I can read and join the hype train !
You’re so welcome, I hope you’ll love answering to the questions if you decide to do so 🙂
I hope you’ll love both Starfish and Red, White and Royal Blue, such great reads, I loved them both so much 😀
Thank you! <3
Hi Marie,
this Tag was really cute and I thing that I love about the way you structured this post is the fact that you included quotes. I love them because they give you a perfect idea of the book and incourage you to read it. (And they are beautiful).
I really want to read “The Seven Husbands of Emily Hugo”, but I’m a little bit afraid of it because it’s not really my genre. The synopsis sounds interesting, but I was waiting for it to be translated in my mother language, so I could think about my choice to read it and maybe be pushed to it. Unfortunately the translation is not going to happen.
“The Wrath and The Dawn” has been on my Tbr for forever, I don’t know why I haven’t gotten to it yet.
And finally “A Year of Maybe” seems wonderful, I have to check it out.
Talking about a book that inspires me I would choose “L’Arte di Essere Fragili” by Alessandro D’Avenia. Translated in English it would sound like “The Art of Being Fragile”. It inspires me because I identified with most of the things the author was wrtiting about adolescence, discovering who we really are and learn to express it and much more. This book is made out of letters that D’Avenia writes to Giacomo Leopardi, an italian poet of the Romantic Age, so I also understood the poet more, from which I already enjoyed the poems.
Ahh thank you so, so much for your sweet comment, I’m so happy you enjoyed the post <3
I'm so sorry to hear the translation isn't going to happen, I still hope that someday you might be able to read this book, it is such a stunning read, really, I loved it so much. <3 and yes, our year of maybe is incredible, I hope you'll give it a try! 🙂
Ohh that's so great! It is incredible to find a book you can find identify with 🙂
Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment! <3
What a great tag!
I really need to read Red White and Royal Blue. It sounds like the perfect summer read and I have only seen rave reviews!
Ahh thank you Kristin! It really is a fun tag, I hope you’ll give it a try 😀
Red, White and Royal Blue was amazing, I loved it so very much, it deserves all of the hype. I hope you’ll love it 😀

I love this list! These prompts are so fun and creative! Also I’m so happy to hear that you loved Red, White, & Royal Blue. Oh thank you Christine, so happy you liked it! 🙂
I hope you’ll give Red, White and Royal Blue a try, it has a lot of hype for sure, but I personally loved it 🙂
It’s definitely on my immediate radar! I haven’t had enough time to read queer books this month, so I’m thinking of extending Pride Month into July <3
Well, Pride Month can be all year long, too, there are so many awesome books to read 😀
Hello Marie!!
I really enjoyed reading your choices for this tag! There are definitely some books that I haven’t read yet that I want to read, such as The Wrath & the Dawn and Starfish! Thank you so much Sophie, so happy you liked it 🙂
I hope you’ll get to read The Wrath and the Dawn, as well as Starfish, I loved both SO much! 😀
Oooh what a fun and summery tag! 😀 I also couldn’t put down RWRB…and I don’t think I’ll ever stop talking about Evelyn Hugo either. I had no idea that Natalie Tan’s Book of Love and Fortune involved food, and now I’m even more interested in it!
Ahh, I hope you’ll give Natalie Tan a try, it’s such a lovely read and it will make you so hungry haha 😀
Thank you so much for your sweet comment <3 <3
AHH I’m so excited that you did this book tag, Marie!! and I LOVED all of your answers. I’m not too familiar with The Wrath & the Dawn, but the romance that you described makes me want to pick it up. I loved that you choose Evelyn Hugo and RW&RB for your starstruck and unputdownable books because that’s honestly just what they are. I loved them so so much.
I’m actually rereading To All the Boys right now, so I really liked seeing another Jenny Han book on this list! I think I’ll probably start it after I finish the last book in the series. I’ve also been meaning to read Starfish by Akemi because I know it’s such a meaningful book.
Thank you again for doing my tag!! MUCH LOVE <3

I love this tag, Marie!! And oh my god, I truly binged RW&RB. I remember starting it in the evening, then staying up late to read it, then waking up the next morning and immediately finishing it. It was just so good and I absolutely adored it! And Evelyn Hugo is a great response for a book that left you starstruck, both because the book is so amazing, and because Evelyn herself is amazing!
Ahh thank you so much May, I’m so happy you liked it <3
Right? I read it so quickly as well, I just couldn't stop reading I was so hooked and these characters, ahhh. <3

Love this post! I’ve read only one book from this list i.e., The wrath and The Dawn! I loved that book! It was one of my favorites! Red, White and Royal Blue is on my next month’s TBR list! I’m so glad you loved it!
Ahh thank you so much Raven! <3 I hope you'll love RW&RB 😀
Oooh, I love your answers for this tag!! Red, White, and Royal Blue was absolutely fantastic!! I’m also super glad that I enjoyed it, and that it’s getting so much hype right now because so often it happens that a super hyped book falls a little flat, and the disappointment is CRUSHING. Also, YES, I MUST GO READ THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO. I just frantically took my phone and put it on hold by the library, because if not it would fall under my enormous TBR to never be seen again ?
Oh yes, when a very hyped book is disappointing, it’s the wooorst. I’m so happy this didn’t happen for RW&RB, I would have been crushed and… well, mad too ?
YES PLEASE AHH. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!! 😀
What a lovely tag, Marie and loved your answers 🙂 Obviously, I haven’t read many of these but they are on my TBR. I have heard so many good things about Wrath & Dawn series and now that you are recommending it too, I have to read it sooner 🙂
Ahhhhh yes, you should whenever you can! It’s such a fantastic series, I loved it SO much <3
Thank you so much! 🙂
I love this post! I’m going to be doing this tag soon and I’m so excited because Tiffany did an amazing job creating it. ?
Ahh, there are so many books on here that I’m itching to read! Especially RW&RB and Evelyn Hugo. You also talked about some books that I remember loving but haven’t thought about in a while and should go back to- I remember enjoying Girl Against the Universe so much! I feel like Paula Stoke’s books aren’t hyped up enough but they’re utterly amazing. This is How it Happened is one of my favorite books ever.
Amazing post! <3
Ahhh yay I can’t wait to see your answers for this one, it’s such a fun tag 🙂
I agree, I feel like Paula Stokes’ books need way more hype, all of the books I’ve read from her so far were INCREDIBLE <3
Thank you so much!! <3
I hope you hit all your summer bucketlist goals! Okay, this post reminded me to read nothing left to burn. It’s still sitting on my bookshelf…unread. DON’T HATE ME! I’ll definitely try to finish this book sometime this summer. Great post Marie xxx

I love all your answers, Marie! Wonderful post! I adore the Wrath and the Dawn as well, and really should rave about it more! It’s such a phenomenal piece of fiction. Shazi and Khalad’s (I hope I spelled their names correctly haha) romance is so fiery – I devoured it! I’m really hoping to pick up Starfish soon, since I’ve heard nothing but lovely things about it! <3
Ahhh yes, we should scream about The Wrath and The Dawn more often haha. such a great series, I love it so much <3 <3
Thank you! and I hope you'll read Starfish someday, it is a wonderful book <3
