It should not come as a surprise to you all: I am a marshmallow and an avid contemporary reader. No matter how many incredible books I find in other genres, especially ever since I started blogging, contemporary young adult books will always have my heart and make me melt. I just love them so, so much.

Me to my books. Like, really.
Since this is, in my part of the world, Winter at the moment and that I despise this season and could always use some more happy vibes around this time of the year (seriously, is January lasting for 6 months, or what), I thought I’d come up with a list of happy books. This also works out perfectly if it’s Summer in your part of the world, too, though! I mean, we could always, always use some books that make us smile, even if that makes us look a bit strange when we’re reading on public transportation, too. (I might be speaking from experience. oops).
I’m going to be really honest here: I went through my shelves, virtual and real and could come up with at LEAST 30 books fitting that theme. I guess I really am a marshmallow. It was really torture to try and narrow this down, but I did my very best, because otherwise you’d still be here reading this post tomorrow. So here goes!
You can click on the covers to go to goodreads, if you want to make your TBR grow.
This Is What It Feels Like, Rebecca Barrow
Why it gave me happy feels ? This book was just so heartwarming and I adored it so, so much – it also deserves all of the hype, really. The friendships, broken and built up again, the romances, the passion for music driving these girls… this book was SO good I devoured it.

Save the Date, Morgan Matson
Why it gave me happy feels ? I could have mentioned a lot of Morgan Matson’s books -well, with the exception of Second Chance Summer, because that one made me sob like a baby. She is one of my contemporary queens and her latest release was such a fun ride with its big family and messy wedding preparations, it made me smile so much.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han
Why it gave me happy feels ? This is an obvious choice, but I couldn’t not put it in this list, because for me it is the ultimate adorable book. Baking and romance and high school feels and drama, a little bit, but overall it’s such an endearing story and Lara Jean is one of the most relatable homey characters for me.
The Anatomical Shape of a Heart, Jenn Bennett
Why it gave me happy feels ?This book was such a sweet, endearing read and even if I read it quite a while ago now, if I can’t remember details, I remember that it made me happy and that I loved the characters, the family vibes and romance. I also remember that I need to read MORE by Jenn Bennett okay.

The Brightsiders, Jen Wilde
Why it gave me happy feels ? I’ve been loving Jen Wilde’s books ever since I read Queens of Geek and The Brightsiders did not disappoint. Even if it deals with some heavy topics (tw: abusive parents & relationship), everything else about the book made me so happy, from the band and their relationship to the friendships and the swooon and I loved it!

What If It’s Us, Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Why it gave me happy feels ? Honestly, reading this book feels like getting under your bed covers after a long, long day. It’s so sweet and heartwarming and you can’t help rooting for these boys and want them to be happy. It’s such a swoony read and I loved ittt.
? Read my full review of What If It’s Us
Always Never Yours, Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
Why it gave me happy feels ? Are you sick of hearing me mention that one? Probably not and IT DESERVES IT OKAY. This is one of these books that made me so, SO happy and that I had such a great time reading, I’m making it my life mission to throw it in everyone’s faces. Megan is one of the best main characters ever, adorable romance and read this please.

Everything Leads To You, Nina LaCour
Why it gave me happy feels ? Another book that deserves way more hype, Everything Leads To You has everything I love in my sweet contemporaries: great friendships, an adorable f/f relationship, great parents (!!) and THESE characters are just so, SO GREAT. Basically everything is great and read this please.

American Panda, Gloria Chao
Why it gave me happy feels ? I haven’t been talking about this book a lot, but maybe I should, because I had SUCH a great time reading it. Seeing Mei growing as the book went on, seeing her expectations and dreams clash with her own parents’ expectations, her falling in love and everything, this book just made me REALLY happy.

Famous In A Small Town, Emma Mills
Why it gave me happy feels ? Everyone has been telling me to read Emma Mills’ books and I am happy I did and I’m making it my 2019 mission to read everything by her. Famous In A Small Town was such an adorable read, I fell in love with this group of friends, the main character and her habit of caring too much, this book made me smile and laugh and definitely a happy kind of read.
I don’t know what came into mind when I decided to write this post, to be honest, because coming up with only ten books was REALLY complicated and as I’m writing this, I have about 3201 more book titles coming to mind. For my sanity I’ll stop there and might come up with another swoony list for you soonish, if you’d like me to! Feel free to let me know!
Did you read any of these books? Did you enjoy them, or do you want to read some of them?
What are some books that made you really happy? I’d love to hear all of your recommendations, you can never read enough marshmallow-y books. Let me know in comments!

I agree with SO MANY of these!! And I desperately want to read Always Never Yours and American Panda!! Hopefully your winter isn’t too harsh (we’re getting over a heatwave here!!) x
Ahhh yay I’m so glad to hear it 🙂 I hope you’ll love both of these books, they were amazing 🙂
Oh thank you! I’d take a bit of heat here and I can send you some cold weather and snow if you’d like in exchange haha 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment <3
I’ll be sure to add most of those to my TBR 😛 I’ve only read TATBILB, but I definitely could use some happy feels books haha
Ahh I’m glad to hear this! I hope you’ll love these books. We can always use happy books 😀
Thank you so much, Marta <3
I’m so excited to finally read Famous in a Small Town, it’s been sitting on my shelf for way too long. ? I adore Emma Mills, and I’m super happy that you loved it! ?
Wonderful post, Marie! I always love reading your contemporary rec posts. ☺️

I can’t wait to read it next month, so excited <3
I’m a marshmallow too! Great post. I haven’t read any of these but I’ve seen a few. I still need to read Jenny Han ??♀️
Thank you so much!! I hope you’ll read Jenny Han’s books, they are really great 🙂
Great choices, Marie! I’ve never read any of these, so it’s great to have some happy recommendations! 🙂
Oh thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed this 😀 I hope you’ll find some books you’ll love there 🙂
this list was so good, marie, and i’m so glad this exists! i need all the happy, feel-good books and i’ve read most of them, so i can say with certainty that you have EXCELLENT taste, especially with famous in a small town 😉
always never yours and american panda was SO good and i loved them with all my heart (they were both my tied second favourites of the year, sooooo … )
MARIE YOU HAVE TO READ ALL OF EMMA MILLS’S BOOKS NOW ESPECIALLY FOOLISH HEARTS, i don’t make the rules here. that reminds me, i NEED to read first and then soon, haha.
happy reading!
Ahhh thank you so, so much Taasia you’re so sweet <3 and I have to say that yes, Famous In a small town was an excellent choice 😉
I knoooow, I'm actually planning on reading Foolish Hearts this February, I can't wait! 😀
Thank you so, so much, happy reading to you too <3
Okay so I haven’t actually read any of these books, BUT most of them are on my tbr! I’m really excited for TATBILB and American Panda ?
YAY! I’m so glad they are on your TBR already, I can’t wait for you to read them! I really hope you’ll love them all, please keep me updated on your thoughts, I’d love to know what you think of TATBILB especially 😀
Definitely! I’ll be sure to write a review because I think I’m really gonna like it ?
I can’t wait to read it 😀
It is so true! January does last for sooo long. ?
I love YA contemporary but honestly I tend to pick fantasy during the winter days. But maybe it would make me all happy inside if I picked up some more contemporary so thank you for these recommendations!
I read and loved To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before btw! It’s one of my fav contemporaries!
I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling this way haha, January is always the longeeest month ever haha.
Oh you’re so, so welcome, I really hope you’ll find books you’ll love in here 🙂 Thank you! <3 And yay! to all the boys is such a great book <3
there are so many good books on this list that I have read or need to read omg!! I’m actually kind of curious about Always Never Yours; I keep seeing it around the blogosphere and it sounds cute. I don’t know when I became such a marshmallow; I used to only go for Dark Gritty Contemporaries That Made Me Sob lol.
also must briefly gush as to how psyched I am to see The Brightsiders on this list <3 <3 I love that book with my entire heart. It is so queer and happy and gave me so many warm, fuzzy feels.
AHH MEL, please read Always Never Yours! I hope you’ll get to it someday, it was SUCH a great read and the main character is one of my favorites of all times. <3
I really loved The Brightsiders as well, it made me so happy and I loved these characters, too! <3
Thank you so, so much Mel! <3
Thank you for this! For some reason, I’m been in a weird mood all week and it just makes me want to curl up and read a something adorable. So this list came at the right time!
Ohh well I’m so happy this could be useful! I hope you’ll find books to read that you love here and that you’ll feel better this week <3 Sending you love! <3
Talking to you has already made me feel better. ? Sending you love too! Happy reading!
I’m so happy to hear that! <3
you: I’m a marshmallow
me: WE KNEWWWWWW ❤️
I’ll definitely check these out!! I’ve been eyeing This is What It Feels Like & Always Never Yours and I want to read them this year!! I loved this post, Marie ?
AHH yes please do, these books were AMAZING, I hope you’ll love them 😀
Thank you so, so much! <3 <3
I REALLY need to read more Emma Mills. The only book by her I’ve read by her is First and Then (which I ADORED), so I definitely want to pick up more of her books! What if It’s Us also gave me allllll the feels, but so did If Birds Fly Back by Carlie Sorosiak. Like, it definitely deals with some weighty topics but overall it just made my little heart want to dance so much ahhh. Lovely post!
I also need to read more of her books, I’ve heard so many great things about all of them, I can’t wait! 😀
Ohhh, I have a book by Carlie Sorosiak on my TBR, I think, but I’m not certain it’s that one? I’ll have to add it to the TBR, thank you so, so much for the recommendation 😀
I’m so excited to pick up Famous in a Small Town. I love how Emma Mills writes friendships, it’s great to hear that this one is another hit for her!
Ahh I’m so glad to hear you think her other books are hits, too, I’m so impatient to read them all 🙂 I hope you’ll love FAMOUS 🙂
Thank you so much, Kelly! <3
So… my TBR may have expanded, and honestly, I’m 100% fine with that! ? I love books that make me feel happy, so this list is absolutely PERFECT! Always Never Yours is one of my absolute FAVORITES, and it does make me feel super happy! ?
YAY well my job here is done haha I’m so glad to hear this 🙂 I’m so happy you loved Always Nerver Yours, it was such a great book!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment <3
Have you read First & Then by Emma Mills? You. Need. To! It is her first book and so far still my favourite of hers. It’s just squishy and sweet and one of those where the ending was a bit bittersweet because I missed the characters so much after they were gone.
This is rare by my love for To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has really only increased because of the movie. It’s just such a cheesy, sweet time and I watched the whole thing with a goofy smile on my face.
Okay a book that recently gave me all the squishy feels was I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios – which I’m fairly sure I read about in the first place on your blog? It’s about a girl desperate to escape her shitty town falling in love with a marine the summer before she leaves for college and…. omg. My HEART. It felt like a Sarah Dessen novel and it made my sooo happy reading it, even though some of it was genuinely gutting.
It is actually the only book I’ve read by her so far and I picked it up because of you 😀 I really enjoyed it a lot, I can’t wait to read more and more of her books 🙂
AH YES AHHHH. I’m just so happy to hear you liked I’ll Meet You There! I agree that it’s not an easy book to read, at times, but damn, all of the feelings I had while reading… I just loved it. SO much <3
Thank you so much!! <3
I completely agree with the ones I have read. I’m reading Famous in a Small Town next month and own What If It’s Us, American Panda, Everything Leads to You and Always Never Yours so lots of smiley books!
Ahh yay that’s so great! I hope you’ll love them all 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment, Grace 😀
That’s awesome post. Who doesn’t want to read HAPPY books , I love to read them .. Thanks for curating such a beautiful list.. I am book marking few , loved few of them ..
Happy reading ××?
Oh thank you so much, I’m so happy you enjoyed this post! 😀 I hope you’ll love the ones you bookmarked 😀
Happy reading to you too! <3
Oh Save the Date is definitely on my “happy-feels” list. I love Charlie and I really really love her family dynamic especially with all her siblings added into the mix. That last scene where they’re all being interviewed had my nearly crying I was laughing so much. The Brightsiders and everything Nina LaCour has written are high on my TBR list, I need to get around to them soon, and oh I recently added all of Emma Mills’s books on my TBR list too. I’ve been hearing so so so many amazing things from so many bloggers. I almost feel like I’ve been missing out not having read her books yet.
Great post Marie. 🙂 <3
Oh yes, Save The Date had so many moments that made me laugh, smile and just, happy overall, it was such a great book <3
I feel like I have been missing out on a lot by not getting into Emma Mills' books either, I can't wait to read more from her 😀
Thank you so, so much, Beth! <3
Based on what everyone has been saying about Emma Mills I feel like I’ve been missing out too. Hopefully we’ll both be able to get around to her releases soon I guess.
That’s all right. 🙂 <3
Fingers crossed! 🙂
I’m screaming over this post! Marshmallow to marshmallow…it was amazing.?
There are so many lovely books on this list! I also loved Save the Date (the family dynamic was so sweet), of course To All the Boys, American Panda, Everything Leads to You, and Always Never Yours. *cries because they are so amazing* I really, really want to read What If It’s Us, I’m so sad I haven’t yet, it’s always checked out of the library when I go! I also want to read Famous in a Small Town because I adore Emma Mills. 🙂 Great post!
Ohh thank you so, so much Olivia, my twin marshmalloow <3
I hope you'll be able to read What If It's Us sometime, it really is a happy, feel-good kind of book, I just loved it so much! 😀
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! <3 <3
I can always rely on Jenn Bennett and Emma Mills to deliver the happy feels. They have yet to let me down.
This makes me so, SO happy to hear – I can’t wait to read ALL of her books 😀
Thank you so much for your comment <3
Great article!
I agree, I am so over winter at this point too, LoL. Can not wait for spring and summer to return!
I just not too long ago finished reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. What a fun book, and the Netflix movie was perfectly adapted.
I really want to read Save the Date, hopefully at some point this year. I’ve heard it’s a good read.
Currently reading Love, Simon.
Thank you so much! 🙂
I’m so glad you enjoyed To All The Boys, it is such a great read and the adaptation was really good, I agree! 😀
Oh, Love, Simon was such a great book, too, I hope you’re loving it 🙂
Thank you! <3
Wowww I love this post! ? I’m a sucker for marshmallow-y books and this list is great. There are some books that are already on my tbr but thank you for this list, I’m adding more on it! ?
Oh thank you so, SO much, this makes me so happy <3 I hope you'll find new books to love here 😀
AAHHH MARIE I LOVE THIS POST SO MUCH!! I’m proud to share your marshmallow-ness hehe; I love happy & fluffy contemporaries with all of my heart. ? I’m very happy that you loved Famous in a Small Town; I’m SO excited to read that book OH MY GOSH. Emma Mills is honestly the queen of contemporaries – I enjoyed both Foolish Hearts and This Adventure Ends so very much.
I saw that in one of your previous comments, you said you’re reading Foolish Hearts in February, and AHHH THAT HONESTLY MAKES ME SO HAPPY!! You’re going to love it, Marie!! You have to tell me when you read it, because I want to scream about it with you, hehe. ? Wonderful post!! I’d absolutely love to see another one of these lists.
Ahhh Dezzy thank you so, so much, I’m so happy you enjoyed this post <3 I can't wait to read both Foolish Hearts and This Adventure Ends, SO excited! 😀
Yes yes yes, well Dezzy if I'm not wrong, weren't you invited to a group chat for a buddy read this February…..? 😀 I'll update you all the time ahah 😀
Thank you!! I'm so happy you enjoyed this <3
OMG LOL whoops, I honestly have the worst memory ever ? I totally forgot that we’re buddy reading it in February!! Aahh I’m SO incredibly excited!! ?
Don’t worry about it at all, I could have forgotten about it as well ? ME TOO AHHHH can’t wait <3
I haven’t read any of these books yet, although I’ve heard of many of them. I really want to read American Panda.
Oh I hope you’ll give American Panda a try, I really enjoyed it! 🙂
Thank you for your comment! 🙂
I don’t read contemporary very much but I LOVED The Summer I Became a Nerd.
Ohhhh I don’t know that one! I will have to check it out 😀 Thank you for the recommendation! 😀
Ahhhh I love this post so much, Marie! American Panda is one of my favs, and I had such a fun time reading Save the Date too! I have to read all the other ones on this list ASAP! ?
Oh thank you so, so much Kelly, I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I hope you’ll love the other books on this list <3
I’ve read The Anatomical Shape of a Heart (thought it’s called Night Owls in AUS) and agree that it’s a pretty feel-good book…though it does touch on some pretty heavy subjects too! My absolute favourite feel-good read, however, is Tournament of Losers by Megan Derr. It’s about a poor man with a heart of gold who enters a competition to marry into a noble family in order to help pay off his father’s debts. Makes me melt inside every time ?
Ohhh right it has a different title in Australia, I wonder why? Anyway, I’m so glad you enjoyed it too 🙂
Ohh thank you so much for the recommendation, I didn’t know that book at all, will have to check it out 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment, Rebecca 🙂
You’re welcome! It’s kinda strange to give a book a different title in different countries, right?
It is strange, I wonder why that happened ahah 🙂
i think all the books in this list are either on my read or to-read shelf on goodreads! i loved loved the anatomical shape of a heart <3 i lost track on how many times i've re-read it tbh. and please read other emma mills's books. first & then so far is my favorite by hers!
Oh yay, I’m so happy to hear this ❤ I’m planning on reading all of Emma Mills’ books, I’m so impatient! 😀
Thank you so, so much for your comment Tiffany ❤
I’m actually haven’t read that many contemporary, marshmellow-y books but I have been meaning to read more. This list was really great. I wanted to read famous in a small town so hopefully I will get to that and now I have some more suggestions. Thank you ?
Oh you’re so, so welcome, I’m so happy this list could be useful to you! Thank YOU so much for your sweet comment ❤❤
Yes it really was– I look forward to trying the books out. You’re welcome ?
Aww yesss for happy feels books! I mean I do gravitate towards the heartbreak and utter destruction, but I quite like a feels-good book and just some warmness after a while!! I LOVED the Lara Jean books so so much. And I desperately want to read American Panda. and omg What if It’s Us stressed me out a lot because I couldn’t tell if those two were going to be the best couple ever or absolutely burn. ? But I haven’t laughed that much in a book in FOREVER. Soooo stinkin’ adorable!
Ahah I get that,I tend to gravitate towards books that will break my heart and I’m not sure why ?
I was so nervous the entire time because I had no idea whether or not Arthur and Ben would be great together or not, ahah that was quite a ride, but it was so much fun ?
Thank you so, so much, Cait! <3
I recently picked up a copy of Everything Leads to You and I can’t wait to start it! I’ve been longing for fluffy, f/f romances and that one looks perfect. Becky Albertalli books are the ones that give me happy feels. I should reread The Upside of Unrequited soon . . .
Ahh this makes me so happy to hear, I hope you’ll love it 🙂
I only read Simon, Vs. and What If It’s Us by Albertalli, I need to pick up The Upside someday, that one sounds great 😀
Thank you so much for your comment <3
As usual, i haven’t read almost any of these.
Save the Date was super cute 🙂
Want to read All the Boys and American Panda. They all sound pretty marhsmallow-y, you are right 😀
Yaay, they really are cute books, I hope you’ll enjoy them 🙂
Thank you so much, Norrie! <3
Love you, Marshmallow!!!
Aww love you too my sweechie!! <3
I’m happy to see Famous in a Small Town on here! I plan on reading it this upcoming weekend!
Yay! I hope you’ll love it 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment! <3
i watched ‘to all the boys i loved before’ and i LOVED it! soon after i realised it was based off a book and was sooooo excited! i’ve been planning to read it for a while, your post has just reminded me! <3
~the blog bee xxx
Ahhh I’m so happy I could remind you of it! I hope you’ll get a chance to read the series soon and will love it as much as I did <3
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! <3
I feel like you’re honestly the perfect person to write this post because you’re the contemporary queen and have probably read from both ends of the spectrum (aka heart bursting with joy and happiness AND crying your eyes out) – I’m surprised you didn’t make a longer list. xD But I guess this way you’ve got room for parts 2-100.
To All The Boys is such a great recommendation on this list! It’s fluffy, quick to read and will leave you smiling like an idiot while reading – perfect combination! AND you can watch the movie after too which will just intensify all of those feelings. 😀
A book that is quite high on my list would be Simon VS The Homo Sapiens Agenda! I’ve read that book so many times by now and it still gives me all of the feelings! I need to rewatch the movie, it’s been too long.
Great post and I can’t wait to see what other books you’ve got to recommend whenever you do a part 2 to this! 🙂
I’m surprised I didn’t make a longer list, too… to be honest when I drafted this, I automatically came up with, like, 30 titles, soooo ? ? I guess there can be multiple parts to this blog post ?
YES you’re so right, watching the movie after reading the Lara Jean series, it’s the perfect marshmallow-y feel-good combo haha. And yes Simon, I loved that book AND the movie SO much 😀
Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment Swetlana! I hope you’ve been well! <3 <3
I’d love more swoon lists. I just added This Is What It Feels Like to my potential TBR for February; I want to read only black authors, as it is Black History Month. I’ve never tried doing a themed TBR, mostly because I change my mind a lot for the books I want to read next, and not always they fit the theme. Because of that, I want to have as many options on my list as possible, so that I can pick up whatever I feel like it. And if I’m craving a happy-fluffy read, I’ll for sure choose This Is What It Feels Like! So thanks for the recommendation!
Jen Wilde is definitely an author I want to read more of, as Queens of Geek was such a delightful time. If I’m ever feeling down, I’ll for sure look for her books to put a smile on my face. Another author I love for that is Stephanie Perkins; re-reading Lola, which is my favorite in the trilogy, is always a guaranteed amazing time.
Lovely list, Marie! ?
Ohh this is so great, I hope you’ll manage to read tons of amazing books next month! I’m happy to hear you added This Is What It Feels Like to your TBR, I hope you’ll love it as much as I did 😀
Ohh yes, Stephanie Perkins has such great books, too, my favorite in her trilogy has to be Isla, though haha 🙂
Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment, Lais! <3 <3
I love this!! This month I’ve read a LOT of YA contemporary, and it’s just so enjoyable and easy to read and I am a BIG fan. Morgan Matson is so much fun! Even Second Chance Summer was adorable and also sad. 🙁 And To All The Boys is basically the most fluffy and readable thing ever omg. I just read Famous in a Small Town and This Adventure Ends and Emma Mills books really do warm the old heart. Great post, contemporary queen!
AHH yes this makes me so happy to hear, contemporary is the best I just love it SO much <3
It's true that Second Chance Summer was adorable, but it made me cry way too much to be on that list ? I sobbed it was terrible haha. I loved it though. Why do I love books that hurt so much? ?
I can't wait to read more of Emma Mills' books 😀
Thank you so, so much!! <3
MY CONTEMPORARY QUEEN IS BACK AT IT AGAIN <3 I'm so happy to see so many of my favorites here like To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Always Never Yours! I definitely need to read more Jenn Bennett books as well and Nina LaCour too. 🙂 These will give me a great starting point~
Ahhhh I’m so happy you liked my recommendations thank you so, so much! <3 I need to read more of Jenn Bennett's books as soon as I can, I can't WAIT 😀 we should buddy read one sometime!! 😀
Thank you so, so much, you're always so sweet <3
As always, I can’t believe that there are so many amazing books that I haven’t had the chance to read yet! I love the idea of reading famous in a small town! It sounds so interesting Great post as always Marie xxx
Melina | http://www.melinaelisa.com
Ahh thank you so much Melina, it always makes me so happy if I can make you discover new books <3 Thank you! <3 <3
I need to read Save the Date and The Anatomical Shape of a Heart. Maybe this year will finally be the year, haha. 😛
Yes yes yeeeeeeees, both were so good! I hope this year will be the year 😀
Thank you so much for your comment! <3
I started American Panda and just could not get into it, I’ll probably try again at a later point. There is a bunch of this list I want to read though!
Oh I’m sorry to hear that! I hope you’ll give some of these books a try, hopefully there are a couple there you might enjoy 😀
Thank you so much for your comment <3
Yaaaaaaas! Marshmallows unite! I was happy to see that I had read more than half of these, although 3 of them really put a smile on my face. I loved The Anatomical Shape of a Heart when I read it many moons ago. Always Never Yours was FANTASTIC and I can’t wait for If I’m Being Honest. And I remember Everything Leads to You just making me happy when I read it.
Unfortunately I didn’t love Famous in A Small Town when I read it, but I did still enjoy it and after loving First & Then I think I’m gonna pick up Foolish Hearts at some point, if only because I adore that cover!
Also, I’d love for this post to have a sequel!
YAY I’m so glad you loved some of these books! I ADORE Always Never Yours and am so excited to read their next book 😀
I’m sorry you didn’t love Famous, I hope you’ll love her other books more! I’m going to read Foolish Hearts soon, too, I can’t wait 🙂
Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment, Malka <3
I have only read To All All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series from this list and that definitely made me happy 🙂 I was grinning a lot while reading all the three books and it certainly gave me marshmallow feels 😀
I would also add Simon vs. to this list 🙂
Oh yes, Simon vs. is such a great addition to the list, I agree, I loved that one so much as well 😀
Thank you so, so much, Sim! <3
From your list, I’ve only read To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, but I adored it! I’m off to add all the rest to my TBR because I just need more happy books in my life!! 🙂
AHHH YAY, all the happy books! 😀
Thank you so much, I hope you’ll find books you love there 😀
Yes! I totally needed this post in my life right now ? I love winter when it first starts, but after the holiday season I find myself urging for spring to just hurry up and come. To be honest, I’m a bit sick of foggy and grey skies, and the only thing keeping me going is the promise of more sun soon to come… and contemporary books! I’m currently reading They Both Die at The End by Adam Silvera, and though it’s a contemporary it’s more thoughtful and, well, morbid, since both characters are predicted to die by the end of the day ? I would love to read What If It’s Us, especially if it’s sweet and heartwarming and gave you all the happy feels ? Thank you for this post!
Oh I’m glad I’m not alone, I’m just tired of winter, it’s not my season at all ? I hope you’ll get to read some fluffy books soon, they’re the best remedy for the cold weather ahah.
I hope you’re still enjoying Adam Silvera’s book though, I’ve heard great things about that one 🙂
Happy reading, Zoie, and thank you so much, you’re too sweet always <3
I haven’t read them but I do love Morgan Matson! Keeping your list for the day I’ll need some light YA!
Yay!! I hope you’ll read some of them and will love them 🙂
Thank you so much! 🙂
January really has been like 6 months long! & I can’t believe today is still not Feb 1st. I love these sort of swoony books & have heard of quite a few on your list but haven’t got around to reading any of them yet. Definitely do a Part Two (& three & four, as many as you got!). ? Thanks for sharing!!
Glad I’m not the only one feeling that way, but it’s February now thankfully ?
I’m so happy you enjoyed this post, I hope you’ll love the books 😀 Thank you so much for your sweet comment <3
Gosh, you always have the best recommendations, Marie! Plus, I’ve totally been in the mood for happy fluffiness, so this list was PER-FECT. Thanks for posting it!
Oh thank you so, SO much Kat, this means a lot! <3 <3
I am marshmallow too ❤️
Yes to American Panda {the way they shared hot chocolate was too cute}, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Always Never Yours!
Looking forward to basically reading everything else on your list but mostly Famous In A Small Town & What If It’s Us.
This is such a great, fluffy list and I love it ❤️
Yaay, I can’t wait for you to read these books, Michelle, hope you’ll love them <3 and yay for being marshmallows 😀
Thank you so much <3
Ohhh definitely make a second part (and third, fourth, fifth – I’m sure you could fill many more lists haha) Marie! I’m so happy to hear What If It’s Us made you happy. It’s been sitting on my shelf because I was a bit scared to start it, since I always heard how Adam Silvera’s books make people cry haha
Aww, I’m sure that I can do that ? I’m so happy you enjoyed this list! And yes, Adam Silvera is known to make people cry, but this book was all fluff ?
Thank you, Michelle <3
Ahhh that is such a relief I have a cold so I definitely don’t want to cry right now ?
Oh nooo!! I hope you’ll feel better soon!! <3
Thank you! ❤️ I’m feeling better than before thankfully. And I started What If It’s Us and am LOVING it! It’s so cute and fun and just agdjskak ?❤️
AHHH YAY this makes me so, so happy!! <3
Every once in a while it’s nice to read a feel-good book that just leaves you feeling happy. I’ve read and loved The Anatomical Shape of a Heart, American Panda and What If It’s Us? Thanks for the recs for others!
I agree! 🙂 You’re so welcome, I hope you’ll find books to love there 🙂 Thank you! <3
Okay, so Emma Mills’ books are a combination of everything good and pure in this world and I love them so so so so much. Morgan Matson is for sure a contemporary queen and I definitely need to read Save the Date. Emergency Contact was a book that had me smiling the whole time. Basically cute romances = lots of feels.
I need to read more of Emma Mills’ books, I really liked FAMOUS! And yeees, agree that Morgan Matson is a contemporary queen, I love her books so much every single time 🙂
Emergency Contact is one of my favorites of ALL times, I’m so happy you enjoyed it, too! ❤
Thank you so much for your comment! ❤
Aahhh I SO agree with The Brightsiders being a make-you-happy book! I definitely wasn’t expecting myself to be so invested in the romance or smiling so much, but I did. (I’m so much more excited to read Queens of Geek now!) And yess What if It’s Us (and the rest of Becky’s books, honestly) is 100% a happy book!! Queer contemporary romance seems to be my go-to for cheerful books haha ☺
AHHHH. I hope you’ll read Queens of Geek soon, it was such a good book, I loved it even more than The Brightsiders. Most likely because of the anxiety rep, haha, but it was SO good. <3
I 200% get that, I'm all for a good, happy queer contemporary romance, I need more and more of these in my life!! <3
Thank you so much! <3 <3
I’ve heard great things about Queens of Geek!! I’m excited especially for the queer Chinese Australian rep ☺
Yay!! I hope you’ll love it 🙂
I’ve seen the Anatomical Shape of a Heart around but I never knew that it was by Jenn Bennet and I loved Starry Eyes by her.
Every Emma mills book is just a ride of feel good vibes, I totally get you. I just want Soph & August to have those banter full conversations and I wanna be initiated into Where Will You Spend Eternity GC, is that too much to ask.
I’ll defs check out This Is What It Feels Like ?
I need to read Starry Eyes, it sounds like such a good book!
YEs yes yeeees oh that group chat and everything about the friendships in this book made me SO happy, I loved it <3
Thank you so so much for your sweet comment <3
Ohhhh I love this list!! ?? Sometimes I really need all the books that give me the happy feels, especially after an intense book that stomps on my heart ? Jen Wilde’s books are the perfect comfort reads and always make me soo happy!!
Ohhh yes I 200% agree, her books always make me so, so, SO happy. I can’t wait to read more from her 😀
Thank you so much! <3
Love this list so much! I’m super keen for anatomical shape of the heart, save the date and always never yours. To all the boys is wonderful as well!
OH yes all of these books just make me so, so, SO happy <3 Thank you! <3
