I fell for Ann Liang’s books a little while ago with her debut, If You Could See the Sun and… since then, all of her books have been hits, for me. I was eager to read I Hope This Doesn’t Find You, so let’s see if this met my expectations, shall we?

• I just, woah. Honestly, I Hope This Doesn’t Find You was one of the most relatable books I’ve read. It’s about Sadie, constantly trying to be the best, she’s a people-pleaser before anything else, all she wants to do is fit in, belong, be validated and appreciated and, ugh. Honestly, that hurt because relatable. I think this is probably one of the reasons why this book hit me so hard: I have a little bit (a lot) of Sadie in myself, too. I related to her and I absolutely loved her journey and her growth. It was so realistic, because the way your brain works and deals with others doesn’t change in the blink of an eye. It was so endearing and, yes, I just loved her okay.

• This was an excellent academic rivals to lovers romance, as well. The rivalry is here and it’s fierce, friends. The way it grew, changed, the ways feelings grew felt so realistic, not rushed at all and just, absolutely wonderful. If you’re a fan of that trope, highly recommending this book.
• I love that there was such a lovely part for friendship in this book, too. Despite their differences, Abigail and Sadie found each other and are there for each other, fiercely and against all odds. I just loved Abigail’s cheerleading ways.
• This book is captivating, in a way. The characters just seem so real, I was quickly invested and couldn’t stop reading, wanting to see what would happen, next. It’s thrilling, really, it’s the kind of addictive YA contemporary read that made me fall in love with the genre.

I’m obsessed with Ann Liang’s books, really. I Hope This Doesn’t Find You was another hit for me and I’ll be looking forward to reading more, more and more by this author.
