There’s nothing I love more than summer time ☀️ While I don’t usually – or often – go to the beach, for that matter, I do love a good beach read.
Beach reads can have many different definitions, but here, I’m talking about these kind of compulsively readable books, the ones you’re picking up and not letting go until you’re done with them. The kind of books you pick up for an afternoon at the beach and read, all at once.
Today, I thought I’d come back with a little list of some of the best YA books to read at the beach. I have a mix of YA contemporary romance and YA mysteries / thrillers here, because I thought they fit the mold nicely.

All The Best Liars, Amelia Kahaney
All The Best Liars is an excellent YA thriller, friends. Told between past and present, it explores three ex-best friends’ relationship, how it broke into pieces and just how, in the end, one ends up dead. It’s thrilling, captivating and one of these books you just won’t be able to let go of. I loved it!

Now That I’ve Found You, Kristina Forest
Kristina Forest writes some of the best YA (and adult) books, if you ask me. I always find them addictive and SO much fun! Now That I’ve Found You is about Evie, being blacklisted in Hollywood and seeking refuge at her grandma’s… but her grandma disappears. It’s a wild chase in the streets of New York, with celebrity drama and romance. What more do you want?

The Rumor Game, Dhonielle Clayton & Sona Charaipotra
Set at a posh private school, The Rumor Game is about three, very different girls and how the rumor mill affects them… and tear apart their entire lives. It’s filled with drama, suspense and I was hooked from page one. If you love Gossip Girl kind of stories, you’ll adore this YA book!

You’d be Mine, Erin Hahn
Annie, a country music star and America’s sweetheart is forced to join superstar, bad boy Clay on tour this summer. Fame, high-profile relationship, good-looks and lots of music on the road: this book has it all. I had SO much fun reading this YA contemporary romance and I think it’d make a perfect beach read!

They Wish They Were Us, Jessica Goodman
An exclusive prep school in Long Island and a murder… They wish they were us promises us an excellent YA thriller and it delivers! I absolutely adored the characters, the mystery got me hooked from page one, it has secret societies, mysterious texts and just, I loved this one so much!

Between You, Me and the Honeybees, Amelia Diane Coombs
Josie would rather keep the family’s bee-keeping business than go to university… but her mom doesn’t know it. Yet. Neither does she know that she’s falling for her family’s nemesis… This YA contemporary has a summer filled with secrets, romance, it just screams sunshine with a hint of mental health rep. One of my favorite beach reads.

Lies Like Wildfire, Jennifer Lynn Alvarez
Five friends set, by accident, a deadly fire in California… and decide to keep it a secret. Friendships, lies, drama, everything’s at stake in this excellent YA thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from page one. An excellent YA beach read and a page-turner you can’t let go of.

This is Not the Jess Show, Anna Carey
Everything in Jess’ life is perfect, perfectly calibrated for drama, from her family relationships to her romantic crushes. Until she finds a strange device with an apple logo on it…. It’s 1998. There’s no iPhone, just yet. This YA mystery is excellent, kept me guessing and I was just captivated. I loved it!

Last Chance Books, Kelsey Rodkey
Madeline’s ready to take over her family’s bookstore… until, across the street, a brand new chain bookstore appears. Madeline’s ready to demolish the competition – and especially Jasper, that way too cute guy working there… I adored the banter, the swoon and ahh, just everything about this book made me smile. A perfect beach read.

Never Vacation With Your Ex, Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
Volleyball star Kaylee’s ready to spend a relaxing summer in Malibu with her family… but she doesn’t expect them to go, as usual, with the Freeman-Yus. Especially because she just broke up with their son… who’s having a hard time getting over her. Such a fun, entertaining, perfect YA Beach Read!

I always think of beach reads to be light the beach – light and breezy. I actually read six of those books – Coombs and Hahn are my faves up there.
I love Coombs’ work so, so much. I have quite a lot of catching up to do with Hahn’s work, but I cant wait! 🙂
