1. My princess book recommendation

Tokyo Ever After, Emiko Jean
Raised by her single mother in California, the last thing Izumi expects is to learn that her father is the Crown Prince of Japan. To get to know him better, she flies to Japan and discovers the world and life of a princess, a life that could be hers…
This has such Princess Diaries vibes, I loved it so much. It has adorable princess/bodyguard romance and friendships, great family bonds and just, makes me want to visit Japan in the spring, as well. Definitely a lovely YA contemporary read!

2. My small town spring recommendation

If You Still Recognize Me, Cynthia So
Elsie has a crush on Ada. The only problem is: she’s never met her in real life. This summer, though, she intends on sharing her feelings… until her ex best friend, her (ex?) crush, comes back to her small town.
This is an absolutely lovely, a bit quiet contemporary read that warmed my heart SO much. It has internet friendships, fandom, small town vibes, heartwarming family relationships, it’s about queer identity and identity and it’s just, a wonderful wonderful read.

3. My regency spring recommendation

Dangerous Alliance, Jennieke Cohen
Lady Victoria must marry and find the most suitable match, if she doesn’t want to find herself – and her family destitute.
This historical YA book has all the fun banter, big dresses and regency vibes! I’m not a big reader of the genre, but I was so entertained by this book, from beginning to end, really rooting for the main character and loving the romance. A perfect spring read!

4. My Hollywood spring recommendation

Everything Leads To You, Nina Lacour
Hollywood setting and queer romance, I say YES YES and YES. Emi’s a young set designer, determined and successful in her professional life so far… but her relationships are a mess. One day, a mysterious letter leads her to Ava…
I adore this book and should talk about it more! Loved the whole behind the scenes of movies, the characters were fantastic, and this is a super cute love story, as well. Perfect if you’re looking for a heartwarming, absolutely wonderful read this spring.

5. My musical spring recommendation

Noteworthy, Riley Redgate
All Jordan Sun wants is to join the cast of her boarding school’s musical… but with her low Alto 2 voice, she can’t. Determined to prove herself, she disguises herself and gets cast into the all-male a cappella octet…
This is an EXCELLENT YA contemporary read that explores thoughtfully what it means to be a girl, a guy and most of it all, what it means to be yourself. I feel like this is a super underrated read and I definitely recommend you add it to your TBR IMMEDIATELY.
