Oh hey, it’s February again and soon… well, Valentine’s day. I’ll admit it: I don’t personally care a whole damn lot about Valentine’s day, because I don’t think we should need a specific day to tell people we love them and we DEFINITELY don’t need to buy things to prove that, either. ANYWAY, you know what we can do that’s better? Read books! Awesome ya valentine’s day books to make you feel all the feels, whether you have a special someone or not. ❤️
I wanted to compile a little list for that theme today. I don’t know about you, but even if we don’t need February 14th to find soft, adorable YA books to make you swoon… it’s always nice to have some of them close-by, in case we need all the feels. So, here goes!

10 YA Valentine’s Day Books

Always Never Yours, Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
No surprises here, I’m a huge, huge fan of Wibbroka’s books. I want to recommend this one for Valentine’s day, because it’s GREAT. It’s about Megan, somehow constantly being the girl “before” the guy falls in love with THE one. So she agrees to help Owen, an aspiring playwright with his play, in exchange for his help winning over her latest crush… with a bold, amazing main character and soft romance, this is the perfect read for this time of the year!

I Think I Love You, Auriane Desombre
Sapphic rivals to lovers romance, yes please?! This is about Emma, a die-hard romantic and Sophia, super pragmatic, having to work on a movie together for a film festival competition… this was such a light-hearted, fantastic read with characters you’ll fall for and a GREAT group of friends. The perfect read for Valentine’s day!

I Wanna Be Where You Are, Kristina Forest
I feel like this one’s a bit underrated, but I personally love it. It’s about an aspiring ballerina, going against her mother’s wishes to an audition across country… and ending up road-tripping with her neighbor/ex-best friend. This is a super fun road trip contemporary read with adorable romance and I devoured it okay.

A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, Laura Taylor Namey
A Cuban Girl’s Guide is one of my favorite books EVER, I can’t NOT recommend it. After three terrible things happen in Lila’s life, she’s shipped away to spend the summer in England with family friends. Out of her comfort zone, she meets unexpected friends and an unexpected, adorable guide. This book hit me hard, somehow and I adore the characters, the setting, every single thing about it okay.

Opposite of Always, Justin A. Reynolds
If you’re looking for an original read this Valentine’s Day, I’d love to recommend Opposite of Always! Jake and Kate meet at a party and fall for each other. When Kate dies, Jake is sent unexpectedly back to the very beginning of their relationship… can he really prevent her death? This was such an endearing book with its emotional moments, I really recommend it!

XOXO, Axie Oh
Fans of celebrity romances should definitely pick up this book. It’s about Jenny, a cello prodigy going to South Korea to help with her grandmother. She finds herself in the same school as the boy she’s met three months earlier, the boy that disappeared without a word. The boy who’s, apparently, a K-pop superstar. This was such a heartwarming romance overall!

Between You, Me and the Honeybees, Amelia Diane Coombs
One of my favorite books of all times here, friends. Josie’s mom couldn’t be more excited for her daughter to go to college, a chance she didn’t have. But Josie would rather keep the beekeeping business going, a secret she hasn’t told her mom, just yet. Another secret she’s kept: how she’s crushing, hard, on the neighbor’s grandson… also the son of their enemy family. Adored the soft romance, the family vibes, the anxiety rep here. A perfect contemporary read.

Dating Makes Perfect, Pintip Dunn
Fake-dating lovers, this one’s for you! A little gem that made me smile more than once, for sure. Winnie has been forbidden to date until she gets to college – until, in a change of mind, her parents decide she needs to practice dating. Obviously, they choose the song of their longtime friend, Mat – Winnie’s sworn enemy – for the challenge. I loved loved loved that this has childhood friends, loved the sister and family connections here, too!

Every Other Weekend, Abigail Johnson
I feel like I should talk about this book more, because friends, it’s such a gem. It’s about Adam and Jolene, meeting every other weekend in the apartment complex they live in. Despite their many differences, they begin an unlikely friendship… this book, friends. It made me cry and so emotional and it was so beautiful. Please read it.

Starry Eyes, Jenn Bennett
Jenn Bennett’s books are classics for any YA contemporary lover and I happen to think a lot of them fit the Valentine’s day prompt, as well. I picked Starry Eyes, because it’s one of my favorites. It’s about best friends turned enemies Zorie and Lennon, finding themselves stranded in nature, in the middle of nowhere, after a camping trip gone wrong. Loved the setting, the characters reconnecting, the emotions. A great, great, great read.
