My sister is my favorite person in the entire world. That being said, it should be no surprise to you at all that I adore reading YA books about sisters.
I’d go even further than that and say it out loud and clear: whenever I see a story that’s about sisters, I am 200% more enclined to add it to my TBR. There’s just something about stories that feature these kind of relationships, whether they’re strong, inseparable, complicated or just hate each other, that make me want to SCREAM and give me all the “I NEED IT” feels, okay.
I guess there’s a reason I’m writing a book featuring a strong sister relationship, as well, aerm.
ANYWAY, that being said, today I wanted to feature some YA books I read, and some others that are still on my TBR with this particular family bond. There’s a little bit of everything here: contemporary, fantasy, mystery/thriller, science-fiction… I did my best to compile a diverse list so everyone can find what they’re looking for!

Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell
Fangirl is a book that everyone knows (well, most people, at least). Cath and Wren are twins, but once they get to college, they slowly go their own way, a separation Cath is scared about. Can she really make it on her own? This was such a good, highly relatable (for me), book and I really recommend it!

Summer of Salt, Katrina Leno
Summer of Salt is a beautiful contemporary fantasy story about Georgina, eagerly waiting for her own powers to manifest themselves, while her twin sister Mary already found her own. It’s a beautiful, very atmospheric story and I loved loved loved the relationship between these two, very different girls.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han
Lara Jean writes letters to her crushes, then keeps them safely in a box… until someone sends them. This is such a soft, adorable YA contemporary with fake-dating and yet, the sisters relationship between the three Covey sisters, sometimes messy, sometimes filled with secrets, filled with SO much love, warm my heart every single time.

Impostors, Scott Westerfeld
Identical twins, Frey and Rafi couldn’t be more different. While Rafi’s here to charm everyone, Frey only exists to protect her sister. Sent out to the world for the very first time to deal with a dangerous situation, she’ll have to pretend her best… this was such an action-packed, exciting read I devoured!

This is such a fun, highly entertaining read with its share of drama, Gossip Girl vibes, romances and complex siblings bonds!

One of the Good Ones, Maika and Maritza Moulite
This is another book on my TBR that I am terrified, but also excited to read. One of the Good Ones follows Happi as she tries to figure out what happened to her sister Kezi, killed after attending a social rally. This sounds like such a powerful, intense and important read, just as well. I’m excited to read it!

Blanca & Roja, Anna-Marie McLemore
Anna-Marie McLemore’s books are all on my TBR and this one sounds especially great because, you guessed it, it has sisters at its heart, yes. It’s about two sisters, very different from each other, yet that would do anything to protect each other. In their family’s curse, there are always two daughters… one of them survives and one of them is taken by swans. This is a retelling of Snow White / Swan Lake, from what I heard and it sounds beautiful okay.

SO many good books on your list! I just started re-reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before on audio and I’m looooving it. Those books just give me all the feels and I connect to Lara Jean SO much! I loved Fangirl. The sister relationship was good but I liked the boyfriend/girlfriend better. An adult book which has a wonderful sister-brother relationship is The Dutch House.

Loved seeing what books with sisters you recommend! 💕 I sadly haven’t read any of these but I loved Fangirl! 🥰 I personally recommend Turtle Under Ice, it’s a book written in verse about two sisters who lost their mother and really touched me 🥺
