After sharing my most anticipated YA books for 2022, I thought I’d take a deep dive into another category: Adult Contemporary Romance. While my reading is primarily composed of young adult books, I sometimes love reading a good book with a protagonist that’s a little bit older and… I also realized that, there are quite a couple of contemporary romances I’m anticipating for 2022.
I don’t venture often into the Adult category, so, friends, if you have any adult books you can’t wait to read for 2022, I’m really looking forward to all of your recommendations in comments. Whether it’s a contemporary, or not, by the way. I’m always looking to step out of my comfort zone a bit!
Alright, let’s see what some of my most antipated reads are…

10 Most Anticipated Adult Contemporary Romance Of 2022

The Roughest Draft, Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
Let’s face it: you all saw this coming. It’s no secret that I adore Wibbroka’s books and… knowing they, as a couple, wrote a book with a slow burning romance between two writers… I’m like, screaming to get to this book as soon as possible because it sounds INCREDIBLE.

Book Lovers, Emily Henry
I read and really enjoyed Beach Read by this author and Book Lovers sounds like it’s going to be even more of a hit, for me. It’s about Nora, a literary agent going on a trip with her sister… only to run constantly into Charlie, an editor she doesn’t really get along with. This screams enemies-to-lovers with a lot of banter and I’m here for it!

Weather Girl, Rachel Lynn Solomon
Rachel Lynn Solomon is one of my favorite authors of all times, so obviously I am anticipating her adult book. Weather Girl is about Ari, a TV meteorologist and Russell, a sports reporter, teaming up to resolve their bosses’ relationship issues. This reminds me of Set it Up a little bit and, with Rachel’s incredible talent to craft relationship, I know this will be EXCELLENT.

A Thousand Miles, Bridget Morrissey
Two high school best friends, a time capsule never opened, a friendship falling apart and a road trip reuniting them… A Thousand Miles sounds like the contemporary romance of my dreams. With the best friends trope, unresolved feelings and a road trip, this book seems to have everything I’d love and I can’t wait to read it!

By Any Other Name, Lauren Kate
Another bookish contemporary romance coming your way! This is an enemies-to-lovers romance between a successful romance editor and a mysterious best-selling author struggling with writer’s block… and this sounds all kinds of awesome.

Delilah Green Doesn’t Care, Ashley Herring Blake
I read How To Make a Wish, a beautiful YA contemporary by this author and have been wanting to read more ever since. Pressured by her stepsister to photograph her wedding, Delilah finds herself back in the hometown she wanted to leave behind. Thrown together with Claire, one of her stepsister’s bestie, she finds that she might have a little fun after all at this wedding… this sounds like such an entertaining, unexpected f/f romcom and ahh I love it.

Fake It Till You Bake It, Jamie Wesley
Fake It Till You Bake It is about a Jada, a reality show star trying to recover after a turning down a proposal on TV. Back at home, she finds work with a cupcake-baker and professional football player, Donavan. To save his bakery and Jada’s reputation, they will pretend to date… Fake-dating trope and cupcakes? What more do I need??

She Gets The Girl, Rachael Lippincott & Alyson Derrick
Alex and Molly couldn’t be more different, but when Alex discovers Molly’s crush she volunteers to help win her heart. That will show Alex’s ex that she’s not a selfish flirt, right? She Gets The Girl sounds like such a great romance about getting someone to fall for you… only to fall for someone else. I love this kind of scheme, so I can’t wait to read this book!

Kamila Knows Best, Farah Heron
You know me: you tell me slow-burn friends to lovers romance and I come running. Kamila’s too busy with her friends’ love lives to worry about her own… until she finds herself slowly falling for a long-time family friend and her nemesis as well. This sounds like such a fun rom-com!

Built to Last, Erin Hahn
I love Erin Hahn’s YA contemporary books and Built To Last sounds SO DAMN GOOD okay. Two childhood co-stars reuniting for a home renovation TV show? I’m here for that kind of romance okay.

A 2022 Adult Romance on my list is The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston – it’s about a ghost writer who deals with grief and returns to her small-town. I think it also has a paranormal element, as there’s ghosts 👻
Ahhh yay! I hope we’ll both love these books! I’ve heard a little bit about The Dead Romantics and it sounds intriguing! I hope you’ll love it 😀

There are so many of my anticipated reads on this list! Of course I already have Weather Girl and Delilah Green Doesn’t care pre-ordered already because of how excited I am for them, but Book Lovers will probably end up getting pre-ordered as well at some point!
Another few books I’m really anticipating that you didn’t mention are Set on You by Amy Lea and A Proposal They Can’t Refuse by Natalie Caña! And of course, I know there are going to be so many more romances announced that will come out during the second half of the year that I just can’t wait for!
