- If you’re in the mood for a light, fun and fluffy kind of read, I can definitely recommend Hot British Boyfriend. From the synopsis, I expected this to be the kind of fluff read it ended up being so, I’m happy for that.
- In this story, we follow Ellie as she embarks on a study-abroad program to escape a very public -and now viral on social media- embarrassment and hops on a plane to Nottingham, England for the next semester.
- I really liked Ellie as a main character, even if I had some issues with her. She’s smart and creative and I did enjoy her journey and her growth towards the end of the story.
- The strongest suit in this book is, if you ask me, the friendships. I really loved meeting the characters surrounding Ellie in this story and loved seeing their relationships grow as they become close friends. From Sage, driven and incredible, to Dev, kind and geeky, to Huan, beatboxing master, they all together formed a charming group I loved following!
- I love books including any kind of travel -so I can live vicariously through them- and I was so happy about the travel parts included in this story. From Nottingham to London in England, to a little trip in Venice, I was carried away by the little group’s adventures abroad.
I HAD A HARD TIME WITH…

- I expected a little more from the main character in Hot British Boyfriend. Unfortunately, she felt a little superficial to me at the start. I waited for her to grow and develop a little more and, if it did happen a little bit by the end of the story, for about 3/4 of the book, I felt like she kind of lacked depth. Which made me sad, because there was so much potential there.
- I wasn’t a fan of the romance with that British boyfriend, actually… because I couldn’t quite grasp what was so incredible about him aside from that accent and that obvious gorgeousness. I feel like the author tried to give him more dimension, but he felt self-centered and I felt like he could have grown more through the story, too.

If you’re looking for a contemporay read filled with fluff and a bit of travel, you should enjoy Hot British Boyfriend! If some characters could have used more depth, I still had fun with this one and especially appreciated the friendships in it.

I actually gave this the same rating. It was fun and cute, and like you, I loved the travel parts and the friendship. I am not quite sure why it fell short for me. Maybe it was that it took her so long to see what was right in front of her, but I think it’s because I wanted more from the ending. It wrapped up too quick. I needed to see a bit past that, you know?
Oh yes! I completely understand that, it would have been nice to see a little more of the characters, instead of ending a bit too soon.
