Good morning, good afternoon, good evening friends from all around the world! It’s a lovely afternoon here in France, and I’m back for another post, and exciting news! Today is supposed to be travelling day, where I take you to visit another city…but I announced that May was going to be full of surprises, so let’s hold this promise RIGHT NOW, what do you say…?
For those of you not remembering, or weren’t there yet, I’m thrilled, and kind of jumping up and down like a crazy person, because today’s the day I’m taking back the Souvenirs From Across The World feature! In case you missed it, I’ll refresh your memory: back in March, I introduced this new feature as a way for me to share my travels with you…and get YOU guys souvenirs! After a giveaway, the wonderful and sweet Mariana @ Book is Glee got a souvenir from Alsace !

When I first introduced this idea, I wanted it to become sort of a regular feature. I’ve given this a lot of thoughts, and today, I want your feedback on this whole idea. Why not launch it right away? Because I don’t see the point if you’re not into it, or don’t want to enter. So, without further ado, here’s my idea : I want to take Souvenirs From Across The World as a concept for all book bloggers, an idea for all of us to get to know each other more, and share bookish, and non bookish stuff, as well! HOW, you ask?
✏️ STEP ONE :
The whole idea of Souvenirs From Across The World is based on getting to know each other, each other’s country, culture, hometowns, etc. Whenever this starts, if it does, I would love for bloggers wishing to participate in this feature to write a blog post, about their hometown, or, if they don’t want to share its name, which it totally understandable, their country. It can be a pictures post, a post about culture, tradition, a post about clichés in your city, about why you love your city, a huge list post…ANYTHING you can think about, as long as it’s related to your hometown/country. I would obviously write one, too, and you’ll be able, just like the Top Ten Tuesday feature, to link to your own post on this very page.

✉️ STEP TWO :
After discovering each other’s country, AND ONLY IF YOU WANT TO, you can enter for the fun part of this…sharing souvenirs! As you can see above, I decided to send a little plush keychain from my hometown, and a postcard.
Obviously, the goal isn’t for us to spend all of our money, because let’s face it, we are already spending A LOT on books. The goal is to share the love, whether it’s just with a postcard, or a souvenir. If you enter, you can obviously choose the price you’re willing to put in this. Moreover, as we all know international shipping can be expensive, you’ll be able to decide whether you want to send it locally, or internationally.
Since the goal is to get to know each other, I would put names in a jar, and pick out people, obviously based on their location, and the amount you’re willing to pay, because it doesn’t seem too fair if someone can only send a postcard, and someone else wants to send a book. (YES, why not?!) so the pairings would be done according to that, the destination, and other than that…SURPRISE!

? STEP THREE :
Send, share, get to know other book bloggers, and just… enjoy!
This idea is amazing!! And I definitely want in- I just need to figure out how much my price limit will be and what I’ll contribute 🙂
Aww thank you, I’m so, so happy you like this idea, and would want to participate! Thank you so much for your feedback! 😀
You’re welcome! I really would!!! Just remind me cos I’m bad at remembering- can’t decide what I wanna send people yet- there are so many options!! But I think it would be so much fun to do!! 😀
Ohh really, well I am excited to know what you could send though!! I’ll make sure to remind you, thank you so, so much for your support, it means a lot! <3
well my main target is this incredible drama bookshop I walk past everyday that has awesomely bookish souvenirs 🙂 (mostly shakespeare stuff at the moment) thank you! <3
OHH really? You make me want to go to that place right now, ahah! It makes me so happy you’re already inspired, and even more enthousiastic at this whole idea. Thank you for your support, it means so much to me! <3
It’s amazing!! it’s very conveniently placed for my (constant) perusal 🙂 You’re welcome!! I think it’s such a great idea 🙂
Hi Marie.
I am an author, and not much of a blogger, but I love this idea.
I would like to participate if I could.
~Icky. 🙂
Hi Icky, thank you so much for your sweet comment, I’m so glad you like the idea! Well I would love for you to participate, when I launch this officially! 🙂 Thank you! <3
YAAAAS FINALLY !! I definitely want in but as I told I’ll have to check the shipping price at the post office (I have no clue hehe) and then decide on what I can spend if the fees are not too crazy.
I’ll do that soon because I’m beyond excited about this <3
P.s: You were right ! It kind of goes with the idea I have for my blog 😀
I am SO so happy you like this idea! I hope I can launch this whole thing soon if you’re excited, but I would love to share with all book bloggers, and well, get to know everyone more, it’s what makes me want to do this! 🙂
I thought so too, well, afterwards I would LOVE it if you want to have like, a regular thing on your blog about your country, it would be AWESOME! 😀 As a part of this, and as your own thing as well! 😀
The feature I’m thinking about for my blog is definitely going to be a regular thing ! So if somehow manage to make both work together that would be SO great. ?
OH yes that would be awesome! We could talk about it together if you want! 😀
Of course I do ?
You know that I am no stranger to spending copious amounts of money at the post office for these kind of things hahaha I SO WANT IN! Even though I try to sound fearless here, it really depends on how many people one would send something to though. I can do something a little pricey for 2 to 3 people, but other than that, I might just have to stick to postcards, because money still doesn’t grow on trees (and I don’t get why – seriously! – it would make everything so much easier).
I am so glad to hear that you are sticking with that feature though, it sounds super interesting!
Hahaha, I’m so glad you like the idea Kat, and that the post office doesn’t scare you haha 😛 Of course, I understand, and I was just planning on people sending something, only to one person, and if I can make this a regular feature (but not too regular either), so we can send to different people over time, without spending all of our money 🙂
Thank you so much! <3
Well, if that’s the case, then I am sure I can manage it 😀
Awesome! 😀
Marie, what an AMAZING idea! I hope you can launch this soon and I’m sure A LOT of people will be willing to participate. I’d definitely love to do so, since I love travelling and getting to know other cultures. I hope you can make this happen! <3
Aww thank you so, so much Lais, I’m so glad you like the idea and would be on board! I hope so, too, but for now it seems good to go! 😀
I think I’ve expressed this before but I love this idea, Marie! And I love the cute things you got Mariana. ^.^ And I would totally participate! 😀
Aww thank you so much Summer, that means a lot! I’m glad you like the idea and would want to participate. It makes me even more excited about it 🙂
Aww this seems like a really nice idea! Collecting souvenirs from around the world seems fun 🙂 Though I do need to check out shipping prices and such. Still, very cool idea Marie! 😀
Aww thank you so much! <3 Of course, I understand, and shipping prices can be expensive, that's why, if I got enough people participating, and from the same countries, I want to give people the choice, between sending something to their own country, or internationally 🙂 Thank you! <3
I would definitely like to contribute to the blog post part! I don’t know about the other part because I live in India which is kind of far away from most everything and isn’t full of English YA bookbloggers. (funny, considering it isn’t most people’s first language) On the other hand, postage is pretty cheap, like I just sent a whole lot of stuff to my friend in the US and it cost about 4 US dollars. ANYWAY, this sounds super cool 🙂
OH that would be amazing, I’d love to learn more about India! I understand, and there would be no obligation, the goal is to get to know each other a bit more and share about our culture 🙂 You’re so lucky if it’s pretty cheap! Even if it could be expensive for me, I would love to send you something 😀
Thank you once again, I am so happy you like this idea! <3
I LOVE this idea!! I would totally be interested in participating! 😀
Aww thank you so, so much Jorelene, it makes me so, so happy that you like it! I’m excited about it with all this feedback, THANK YOU <3
OMG THIS SOUNDS SO AMAZING! You and your creativeness BLOW ME AWAY and YOUR AWESOME AND SO GREAT. THIS IS A WONDERFUL IDEA. SADLY, I probably can’t take part in the souvenir thing *CRIES* I would love to do a blog post but there’s nothing quite out of the ordinary and my surroundings are pretty not-so-interesting (I don’t live smack-bang in city-Sydney) BUT I’m so excited to see how it all turns out! I’M SO GLAD FOR THIS MONTH. THESE IDEAS ARE SO EXCITING *CHEERS SO LOUDLY THE WORLD EXPLODES*
AW thank you, it means so, so much that you like this idea, really, all I needed was YOUR COMMENT TO MAKE MY DAY <3 Oh don't say that, I'm sure it's so beautiful where you live! <3 And, as I said, if you don't want to talk about your hometown, you can talk about your country, do a list of why you like/don't like it, talk about clichés or weird things, expressions you use, just, anything really, to get a glimpse of it! 😀
And I understand, sending souvenirs might be tricky for some people, but it can be just a postcard, not necessarily something too expensive, and I want for people to be able to send it locally, or internationally 😀
THANK YOU, you are wonderful <3 <3
Aww! I’m so glad I could <3 Ahhh, it really does seem fun, maybe I'll try to pull up something interesting I can find 😉 It would be so much fun to write it out! You and your WONDERFUL ideas, WHAT WOULD THE WORLD DO WITHOUT YOU?
Its really really great, this whole idea! Aha, I'll try to see if I can do it because it sound so very lovely!
YOU'RE WELCOME, YOU ARE EXTRAORDINARY! <3
You are WAY too sweet with me, you’re making me blush, stop it! <3 <3 Thank you for your wonderful comments all the time, really it makes my day and makes me smile SO BIG. I hope you'll be able to partipate, I can't wait 😀 <3
Aha <3 <3 YOU DESERVE ALL THE SUGAR IN THE WORLD. You're welcome 🙂 Its a pleasure to make your day and you really do deserve awesome greatness! Aha, I think I will and I'm excited to! <3
I can’t wait, you are spreading happiness everywhere you go I swear <3
You live near Sydney!?!
That is incredible!
I live near Birmingham, Alabama, USA., in a little town named Irondale.
My loot would probably be from Birmingham, instead of Irondale.
Even a jar of sand, knowing it came from the other side of the world would be exciting.
I hope you change your mind about participating.
Happy Reading!
~Icky. 🙂
AH this makes me SO HAPPY, just this comment THANK YOU, yes, I want people from all over the world to communicate and just be HAPPY ABOUT IT AND THANK YOU <3 This is beautiful. I hope you will both participate in this, whether it's just in the blog post, or in the souvenirs thing as well, it would be amazing to learn about your hometowns/countries 😀
Aha yes I do! Its really great living here 🙂 Birmingham definitely does sound charming, how is it over there? Are you going to participate? Because it would be lovely to here about what its like there! Aha, I’ll try to participate in the souvenir giving but I’ll DEFINITELY do the posting I think, dearest AWESOME Marie has convinced me 🙂 Thank you heaps for your comment!
Hope you have a lovely day and happy reading to you too!
Aha yes I do! Thank you 🙂 I’ve never heard of Birmingham but if there’s a name that intrigues me its that one, it sounds so cool! Aha would be looking forward to see how that goes 🙂 I’ve never heard of Irondale either, how is it living there?
Aha I think I might make a blog post about here in Aydney 🙂 the lovely Marie has convinced me so I’ll try and dig up something interesting!
Hope you have a lovely day and happy reading to you too!
I AM CRYING. You’re already talking about your hometowns and it makes me so, SO HAPPY because this is the kind of bonding I want to create between people and book bloggers. Anyways, I would LOVE to see both of your blog posts whenever I’m launching this thing… SOON 😀
AWWWWW! Aha it’s such great fun talking and it’s going to turn out to be amazing if it’s already working so great so far! XD I’m so excited for when this all launches, I WILL DEFINTELY be making a post! I’m so excited to see everyone’s!
Well I’m a bit of a pessimistic so I don’t want to get my hopes up, but YES I AM EXCITED STILL and I’m glad you are as well! <3 Your support means the world to me, thank you!< 3 <3
Yay! I’m in!
Thank you, Marie, for your gracious invitation.
Hi hiraeforthepages.
Hmm, what is it like here in Irondale?…
This is late Spring, so we have already passed through the blooming of my yard’s blue phlox and different varieties of daffodyls. Purple iris’s and Byzantine Gladiolae have already bloomed, also. The first few orange day lillies have opened up. The crepe myrtles will be blooming soon. I am going to be a roadie for an outdoor beer and music festival a hundred miles north of B’ham for the weekend. We are expecting temperatures in the low eighties with sporadic thunderstorms. I guess you folks are in your fall season now, is that correct? How is life down under?
Thanks for speaking with me, hiraeforthepages,
{My name is Ichabod Temperance, but you can call me Icky.}
Happy Reading!
Your pal,
~Icky. 🙂
This sound so amazing Marie! I definitely want in because this is a brilliant idea, and a great way to build relationships with other bloggers all around the world too 😀
There are so many tourist shops in London and Southend I think my main problem would be narrowing down what to get. Even my friend brought something in one of them the other week (why I’m not sure, she lives in London does she really need a sourvenir from there as well! Apparently she does.)
But seriously this is such a brilliant idea! I can’t wait to hear more about it!
Aww thank you so, so much, I am so happy you love this idea, and I can’t wait to see what kind of souvenirs you could send people! Hahaha, well I wouldn’t blame your friend, London is an incredible city, if I lived there I would want a souvenir for myself as well haha 🙂 Thank you!<3 <3
That’s all right, and it’s a brilliant idea. I love sending presents to people and I’d love to receive something from someone else living in another country too! I already have a collection of souvenirs I’ve picked up from my own travels.
Maybe I should buy a souvenir next time I’m in London for leisure! 😀
Thank you once again, I am so, so glad you’re enjoying this idea 🙂 I can’t wait to put that all into place 🙂
I’m going to be glued to your blog waiting for updates! 😀
Ahh, well it’s going to take me a bit of thinking and organization, but I hope to tell more news about it very soon! 🙂
Oh my god! I am SO in! This is perfect. Such a great way to make better connections within the community. At least then bloggers like me won’t feel left out. That is if anyone is really interested in shipping to India. 🙁
But either ways, I am super hyped!
AHHH thank you, I am so, so happy you like it! And I would be SO IN to ship something to India, I’d love to see what souvenirs you can come up with, and to hear all about your hometown or country 😀 Thank you so, so much for your support, it means a lot to me!: <3
There is so much here that I can send! So much to know! I very passionate about how people think about my country and what it really is like. I can go on and on about it?
I love the idea there is nothing not to support! Just start it soon, its too much to wait! ?
OHH that’s incredible already, I am so excited if you’re interested in participating. I just CAN’T wait to read all about your wonderful country! 😀 I will start it as soon as I can, I am working on it right now actually… 😀
COUNT ME IN!!! This is a super cool idea Marie! Where do I sign my name? :p
AHH YAY, I’m SO so happy you want to participate! 😀 Well you can sign for it..VERY SOON 😉 THANK YOU <3
