Hi bookish friends, how are you today? What book(s) are you reading this week? As always, on Wednesday, I’m going to answer some questions, bookish-related. I’m so, so late on my tags, and it’s a nice way for me to talk about books without really being my crazy self all the time, haha.
I have to thank the wonderful Erika and Giselle for tagging me to do this, a while ago, I can’t even remember when, haha. If you ask me, courtship makes me think about those old-fashioned romances, big dresses and gentlemen….

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?
Okay, I’ll admit it: There are days when I just want to buy books because of their gorgeous covers. It’s a bit shallow, I’ll admit it, but we also NEED to admire more the designer’s work, especially when it looks THIS GOOD. Ten Thousand Pieces of You is one of these books where the cover took my breath away. The whole series covers are gorgeous, and the writing and story inside is quite great, too, so…it’s the whole package of AWESOMENESS here.
Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?
I’m going to talk about a book I recently finished reading, but that no one knows about, haha, it’s Pretending to be Erica. It’s a debut, and what caught my eye really is the synopsis. A girl trying to pass off for another girl, pretending to be someone she’s not? That must be crazy, right? Well, IT IS. If I thought about this one before, it could’ve gone on my crazy books selection the other week…
Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing
Ugh, I kind of struggled for that question, but I’m going to take my most recent read too, and it’s The Summer of Chasing Mermaids. My first Sarah Ockler book, and damn, that woman writes like a dream, I love it.
Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?
WHY does these questions have to be so hard?! I’m sorry, but I’m going to talk about The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer once again, because it’s one of these weird books that had me hooked from the first page, and ‘til the last one.
Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?
I’m trying to be reasonable, but sometimes there are BOOKS. So, well, there’s that. Oh, you’re looking for a book here, right? I’m going to say Sanctuary Bay, because damn, I expected this one to be good, but not THAT good. And I certainly didn’t expect half of the twists and turns in that story.
Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?
Hello Patrick Ness, here we meet again, in my brain you haunted me for DAYS, letting me wonder if, really, there were MORE THAN THIS. I’m still not over that book, and I wish I could read it again for the first time.
Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?
You know, I’m a marshmallow. And when I read a book like Isla and the happily ever after, I can’t help it but MELT completely. This story was just too cute, and I JUST HAD FEELINGS.
Phase 8 – Meeting the parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?
Forever recommending I’ll Give You The Sun to every person, reader or not, every living and breathing thing on that planet. Hell, I’d recommend that one to a tree, it’s so beautiful I could talk about it for hours.
Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re-read many times in the future?
Obviously this question asks me about my favorite reads. Well, hm, keeping on with all of this obviousness, I’ll say any John Green book, because he’s my favorite of all times.
Phase 10 – Share the love: Who do you tag?
I think that every single blogger I know did that tag at some point, most especially last year, because I’ve seen it around a lot. And I know, for some reason, I’m only doing it now. If you haven’t done it, or feel inspired to, PLEASE do, I am tagging YOU!
You’ve got so many books I have on my to-read list in this tag and it’s made me want to pick them up even more (I need more time to read!)
I completely agree with you about A Thousand Pieces of You, literally the cover is what influenced me to read this series, I didn’t even read the blurb before marking it as to-read 🙂
But I love all your answers. The ones I haven’t read sound really good, I’ve heard so many amazing things about Stephanie Perkins’ books and I’ll Give You the Sun, and obviously I know Patrick Ness is an amazing author 🙂 your posts always seem to add more and more to my to-read list.
Oh I’m so glad *diabolical laugh*. I really hope you’ll read those books, I really loved them! Out of curiosity, which one out of this list would you like to read the most? 😀
READ I’ll Give You The Sun! I heard tons of great things about it, and there’s such a huge hype around that title, but it’s completely justified, if you ask me. I fell in love with that book.
Thank you so much Beth! I need to say, all of your comments always put a huge smile on my face <3
I think if my to-read list was a physical thing I’d be crushed under the weight of it now 😀 but I’m trying to branch out into new genres and this is definitely helping me find books I’m interested in reading!
Well, I need to re-read A Thousand Pieces of You so I’m hoping to do that soon-ish, but other than that it’ll either be a Stephanie Perkins book (I’ve heard lots of good things about Anna and the French Kiss) or I’ll Give You the Sun. Yeah I’ve heard so so many amazing reviews for that book, everyone seems to LOVE it, and it’s been on my to-read list for a while now but it’s slowly moving up the list.
Ahh 😀 thank you Marie, I feel completely the same when I see your comments. You’re one of the most amazing people I’ve met since I started blogging!
Hahaha, if all the books I have on my Goodreads shelves and ALL the books I want to read were where I live right now, well I wouldn’t have much place for anything else, haha.
OH, Stephanie Perkins definitely is a great author, I recently finished reading Isla and the Happily Ever After, and it was even better than Anna and the French Kiss. I feel like this author knows how to make relationships feel true, and all of the struggles that comes with it. I really could feel it in that book. I hope you’ll pick it up soon! 😀
It makes me so happy that we can have conversations like that, and thank you, it means a lot to me, you’re definitely one of my favorite person from the book blogging world !! <3 <3
There’d just be tons of books crammed into every spare space of room I actually had! I’d have to get rid of all my furniture to fit them all in 😀 and well, don’t get me wrong owning that many books would be pretty cool 🙂 but I would want to sacrifice my bed!
I’ll definitely try and pick up one of her books soon then, Anna and the French Kiss has some great reviews, although I’ve never really looked at the blurb so I’m unsure of what the actual synopsis is but plenty of people have loved it and it has a pretty cover so that’s enough for me 😀
I have one series I need to get through first then I’ll start licking some of these books up! I’ll start with I’ll Give You the Sun and the get around to Anna and the French Kiss probably.
Same here, I love speaking to you about, well about everything we’ve spoken about 😀 you’re just an amazing person 🙂
Ahah, yes, sleeping with books wouldn’t be too comfortable, but well…books are awesome, and at least they’d tell you stories to fall asleep 😛
Well I can’t wait to know how you like it! I have my review up this afternoon for Isla and the Happily Ever After, if you want to check that one out, too, it was SO great <3
and please let me know when you read all of those books, so we can TALK AND TALK a lot about it, because I would love that <3 <3
Aw, you're the sweetest, you are amazing!! <3 <3
Books are amazing! I was talking to one of my friends today about my book buying habits, and how much I spent on books per month. Her only reaction was to say no wonder I buy so many bookshelves 😀
I’ll definitely have to check out your review for Isla before reading it then. I’ll have to read the first two before starting the third one though, I always read books in the release order even if they’re technically separate stories with separate characters!
Haha, well, we can’t control ourselves when it’s books, need to get them! I wish I could get more bookshelves, well, once I’ll get settled someplace, my books will stop being all around the place, ahah!
Oh I understand! I planned on doing that too with that series, but somehow I ended up missing the middle book, haha 🙂
It’s so hard when there’s so many amazing books released, if only they were less expensive! I recently brought a new bookshelf though so I have some more space to fill 🙂
I guess it’s easier to miss one when the stories don’t connect in a way that means the plot will be confusing if you don’t read the middle book. I just have to read things in order, even if they are different stories with different characters, but hopefully you’ll enjoy the second one just as much as the first and third!
Oh yes, I wish they were…I recently bought ebooks, thinking it would be cheaper, but it’s sometimes even MORE expensive, how crazy is that…
Yes, I really hope I will enjoy it as much! 🙂
I always spend more money in eBooks, it’s just so easy to do because they appear on your device straight away and before you know it you’ve spent way too much money! That’s always what gets me 🙂
Oh yes you’re right, I just love how they appear so quickly on your ereader, it’s the best feeling <3
They appear so quickly which is great for new books, but bad for my bank account when I realise how many I’ve brought in one go 😀
Hahhaa, yes, well it can’t be all good…we’ll have to wait ’til we are rich, so we won’t have to worry about that anymore 😛
I’m jumping in here to say that I just started I’ll Give You The Sun! It’s really different from all the other YA novels I’ve read, and I’m really enjoying it. <3
OH YES. This makes me so happy, you have no idea. I fell in love with this book, and I want everyone to feel the same way <3 I can't wait to know how you feel once you've read it all! Is it your first Jandy Nelson book? 🙂
Eep, I recently bought More Than This and I cannot WAIT to read that one! Patrick Ness is just all around an amazing author. I hope it blows me away just as much as it did for you.
Lovely post! ?
Ohhh yes! You’ve read The Chaos Walking trilogy, or just the first book, if I remember right? I guess we complete each other with our Patrick Ness reads, then, ahah. I hope you’ll love that book as much as I did! 🙂
Thank you so much Josie! <3
Yep, I’m reading The Ask and the Answer right now and it’s fantastic!
You’re welcome Marie☺️
Oh yay, I’m so happy you’re loving it so far. Really need to get those books soon 🙂
Great answers! I haven’t read any books you chose though XD
Thank you so much! Oh, well you definitely should add some to your TBR, then 😉
You’re welcome. I definitely should 🙂
Aww I’m a marshmellow too!! I loved Isla and the Happily Ever After- so glad you did too!! *high five* great post 😀
Aw yaay for being marshmallows, I love it, ahah :p we can recommend some crazy cheesy books to each other then :p
Thank you so much! <3 <3
ooh yes please!! I’m always looking for good cheesy books 🙂
You’re welcome!
ME TOO! Well I’ll definitely browse my Goodreads shelves to see if I can recommend you anything good 😀
Ooh me too- off the top of my head have you read Everything Everything?
Oh no, it’s one of those books that’s been on my TBR since FOREVER, and I still didn’t get to it. Did you read it? 😀
Yes, I really enjoyed it- it’s pretty unusual, but one of the sweetest books I’ve ever read 😀
Ohh, well I definitely need to read it then 😀
definitely!
More Than This was on my mind for weeks after I read it. I think it is my favourite Patrick Ness book, actually. Everything about it felt so original to me. I really love the cover too.
My recommendation (even though you didn’t ask, but the tag did, so I’m going to say anyway) is To Kill A Mockingbird. I am reading it right now and every chapter blows my mind. I am so in love with it I can only express myself by waving the book around and grinning/crying.
This book stayed on my mind for a long time after I finished reading it, too. I haven’t read much of Patrick Ness, except for The Rest of Us Just Live Here, but I think in general that book had such a huge impact on me, and on my brains, haha :p
YES do recommend 🙂 I haven’t read that book yet, but I feel a little ashamed to admit this. I really would love to read it. I’m so happy to hear you like it so much…I need to move it up on my TBR! Thank you so much! <3
Don’t be ashamed! I only just read it. There wasn’t much in the library so tbh I grabbed it because there weren’t any other options and this week I think it might have changed my whole life outlook. Or at least affirmed some of the things I have been thinking to myself lately. I have spent the last few days telling everyone I meet that they should read it, haha.
Haha, well I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one forever trying to convince people to read that book. It’s just THAT worth it <3
THIS IS SUCH A CUTE TAG!
I’ll probablydo it… like in three months time (THATS HONESTLY HOW MANY TAGS I STILL HAVE TO DO xD)
But yeah – I totally get the first one, with first impressions – I haven’t read the book, but I FELT SO TEMPTED TO BUY because that cover is just so beautiful -sinks into a puddle of feels-
I FEEL YOU, haha. I have tags for the next three months at least, too, it NEVER stops. And I always take SO long to write them down, ahah, but they are fun, so I guess that’s okay 😀
Ahah, beautiful book covers will be the death of us :p I hope you’ll try to read that one, I found it really good! 🙂
Thank you so much Geraldine! <3
I haven’t read More Than This yet!! But this makes me excited to read it… 🙂
Ohhh, DO IT READ IT RIGHT NOW. Not putting any pressure on you, I promise 😛 it’s such a great book though, I was hooked from the first pages until the end. I hope you’ll read it 🙂
Thank you so much! <3 <3
I will some time! I’m just waiting for it to call to me cause I’m weird like that haha
Hahahhahahah. That was just the best comment ever. I hope it calls to you soon, hahaha 😛
??
I AGREE WITH ILL GIVE YOU THE SUN. Gosh darn that book broke my heart and pieced it back together but in a way I can never be whole again – it left me with a MAJOR BOOKHANGOVER that I believe I am still in the masses of. Yes, I will recommend it to anybody, human or not XD
As for More Than This and Pretending to Be Erica, I want to pick these two up! Pretending to Be Erica for the same reason: plot summary but MORE THAN THIS (aha get it?) I LOVE the cover. and I know, it’s not all to spectucualr but it looks lovely 🙂
As for More Than This, I have it on my shelf and I have heard that it’s great and mind blowing and totally book hangover worthy and I want to pick it up but IM SO SCARED. WHAT WILL THE BOOK DO TO ME?!
Anyway…. Wonderful post! I loved it 🙂
OH YES, someone who feels my love for I’ll Give You The Sun, too. Hahaha I’m glad we agree, we can travel the world book in hand and try and convince every human, dog, tree and whatever animals and living things come into our way to read that book, haha 😛 (I’m crazy, don’t mind me, haha)
More than this is DEFINITELY worth the ride. I wouldn’t want you to get disappointed, but the best thing is to go into that book completely BLIND. I did, and I was surprised at every turn, and hangover after I finished it. I hope you’ll feel the same way, so we can try and get over that book together, haha 😛
Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment !! <3
Don’t worry, I talk to everything human and non-human about books all the time! There is simply other thing to do 🙂 when the words are there I just need to talk and talk and talk my feels out.
I know close to nothing about More Than This except that the MC wakes up after being dead? Or something like that and I’m expecting great thing from it! I’ll definitely talk to you ABOHT it after I finish!
And no problem! You definitely deserve it 🙂
Haha, well I’m so glad we are the same on that. Next time I need to vent about a book, I’ll come to you 😛
Yes, and you shouldn’t know, wait for the pun…MORE THAN THIS, haha. That was bad, sorry, I apologize. But it’s really really good, I can’t wait for you to read it!
Thanks again, it means a lot, really <3
Yes, let us together vent all the feels XD And your pun was just amazingNESS (no? Okay yea.) and your welcome, truly! 😉
Hahhahaa. I think we’re pretty awesome at puns, we should do that for a living 😉 😛
YASSS if only XD
Sigh, I must read I’ll Give You the Sun soon because everyone loves it so much. I always see it on here and on Jenna at Reading with Jenna. I’m making it a priority read for the year! 😀
OH YES, read it, I really hope you’ll love it. I just finished reading The Sky is Everywhere, by the same author, and it’s definitely a Jandy Nelson thing. That author is just SO good. I am feeling everything, it’s crazy, ahah. I hope you’ll read those books 😀
Nice list 🙂 I’ll Give You the Sun is on my TBR list now!
I did the tag too, maybe you like to see my list?
Thank you so much! Oh, I’m so glad to hear it, I hope you’ll love it, please let me know when you read it 😀
I’ll check out your answers right now, thank you! 🙂
