Top Ten Tuesday (38) : Top Ten Resolutions I Have For 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is a Top Ten Resolutions I Have For 2016. Let me tell you a little secret. This post was SO HARD to write, honestly. Because I don’t like making resolutions, and I never do so. But, for you, I’ll make an exception. So, let’s take a look at those…

Blogging resolutions

1 • Introduce a new travelling feature

travelYou all know by now, if you’ve been following me for a while, how much I love travelling. In my latest blog post where I celebrated my one year blogging anniversary, a lot of you guys told me you’d be interested in a travelling feature. Well…it’s going to HAPPEN. And it’s coming soon…I really hope you’ll like it!

2 • Keep on bookish discussions

book discussionI’ve come to the realization that I love doing bookish discussions on the blog. They are my favorite posts to write, and it makes me the happiest to see, that they are some of the most-liked and commented posts here! THANK YOU. 2016 will be FILLED with more bookish discussions!

3 •  Schedule more

scheduleLately, I’ve been on a roll with my blog posts, and managed to schedule a lot of those. I can be thankful for the holidays, for that. But when real life kicks in again, I really want, and need everything to stay that way. I’m definitely going to do a blogging schedule, and try to keep it.

4 •  Talk a little bit more about myself…?

drizzle and hurricane books @ portsmouth, uk

I’m not the kind of person who really loves to talk about herself, and that’s one of the reasons why there are almost no blog posts dedicated to my life, or anything happening around it. You get a glimpse of me through my book-blogging, though…Maybe, it’s not sure at all, but maybe I will try and get more personal, through some blog posts, through this new travelling feature I want to try out… What do you think?.

5 • Interact MORE with the bookish community

Did-we-just-become-best-friends

One of the best things about book blogging, is the whole community around. When I started, I never expected to find such warm, sweet, and perfect people. In 2016, I want to talk more with all of you, participate in more book chats, buddy-reads…I want to interact more with all of you, because you are AWESOME.

Reading resolutions

6 •  Read MORE books

one year

In 2015, I managed to read 48 books. That’s not a lot for those of you who can read over 100 books -I admire you SO MUCH-, but it’s a lot for me. One of my resolutions for the next year, is to read even MORE. 50 books is my little goal, but hopefully, I will read MORE than that.

7 • Read more DIVERSE books

what-to-read-nextDiverse can mean a lot of things, in the bookish world. It means reading with more characters having different backgrounds, cultures, origines. But by that, I want to mean, reading more of different genres, too. I want to try out more fantasy books, more paranormal, too. If you have any advice, TELL ME.

8 •  Read more e-books

e reader booksI recently bought an eReader -I know, finally-, and even if it’s very different from reading a real, physical copy, I really am happy with it. I haven’t read much on it, though, and I want to buy, and read more e-books. Because they’re cheaper, because it’s easier to take an eReader than a book on my bag. Let’s see if I can do this…

Personal resolutions

9 • Write more

tumblr_mn9s4181I01rhfltso1_250This year, thanks to NaNoWriMo, I managed to write more, and I loved every single day I did it. I already kind of gave up on writing once, and I don’t want to do that again. So one of my resolutions is to write, more. Well, try to, at least.

10 • TRAVEL

travel

I’ll be honest with you here, I have no idea what 2016 is going to be like, for me, because I’ll leave student life to enter, well, the real world. So I don’t know what it’s going to be like, and I AM STRESSED. But I don’t want this to take over on my wanderlust. In 2016, I will travel, at least as much as the year before. Even more, if I can.

What do you think of my resolutions for 2016? Do you think I should talk more about myself? Do you have ANY recommendations of books I should ABSOLUTELY read this year?!

What are YOUR resolutions? Blogging, reading, personal resolutions, I want to know everything! Do we have anything in common? Let’s chat in comments!  💬

  1. I don’t know which ereader you have BUT I don’t even buy most of the ebooks I read! I download them for free from my library. Ask your library if they have Overdrive (they probably do!) and you can probably save yourself a bit of money. 🙂

  2. Love your list of resolutions! I can pretty much agree with every single one of these! 🙂
I would love to travel more for sure though. I haven’t really been anywhere in such a long time.
Scheduling posts is amazing! I try to schedule as many as I can when I get the chance and if I have ideas on posts. 🙂

  3. I think a traveling feature would be awesome! I feel the same way, I don’t talk a lot about my personal life on my blog besides a few posts here and there, but maybe that will change in 2016? Anyways, happy 2016! 🙂

  4. All your resolutions resonate with me too. I really want to talk about my personal life on my blog more as well and of course interact with people in the book community more too. Both are quite important. I can’t wait to see your travelling segment, I love travel too and your new feature looks so interesting and exciting! Good luck with that and all your other goals! 🙂

    1. I completely understand the feeling, contemporary romance is my weakness, too. Sometime I just find myself reading those kind of books over and over again. We need to find new genres to love 🙂
Aw, thank you so much, I hope you’ll like it! 😀
Thank you for your comment Karine! 🙂

  5. Can’t wait to see where you travel this year. This way I can live vicariously through you XD I’m aiming to do more discussion posts this year because like you said, they are one of my most favourite posts to write. Wish you the best of luck with your resolutions!

  6. I love your resolutions, ours are pretty similar! I wish I could put travelling more on my list now that I’m out of high school, but I already can feel that I won’t have any time or money to travel! Possible when I am 18 I will put that on my resolutions list.
Writing more is definitely something I want to achieve – writing at least three times a week or everyday if I can help it would be the best! I want to finish the first draft of my novel this year.
But I digress – good luck with all your resolutions! I’m sure you can achieve them all and more! 😊

    1. I understand, it’s so hard to have time and enough money to go wherever we want to, if only we could teleport… :p I really hope you’ll get the chance to travel soon, though…and obviously tell me all about it 😀
Oh yes, your novel! I would love to see how that goes, and get more snippets, obviously! 🙂
Thank you so much Josie!! Good luck to you too! ❤

  7. I would love to hear more about yourself 🙂 Travel blogs are the best. Travelling is one of my resolutions for the year too. Now Christmas is over I might actually be able to get some money saved up. Do you know where you want to go?

I have no idea about people manage to read 100 books in a year. I just couldn’t do it. Mainly because I’d have to give up TV, and I’m just not that dedicated. It comforts me to hear or another blogger with similar yearly reading numbers to my own! I think in the end it has to be more about the reading experience than the numbers. If I decided to read 2 books a week I would really be forcing it and pushing myself and – even though I’d have way more blog content – I don’t want to do that to my reading life.

    1. Aw I’m so glad to hear that, I hope you won’t be disappointed! 🙂 I really hope you’ll be able to travel, too. It’s one of the best things EVER. For now, I don’t know, I know I’m going to Paris for a weekend soon, but after that…I still need to figure out how my holidays are going to be. What about you?
You’re so right, it’s definitely more about the reading experience than about the amount of books you can eat in a year. I know I wouldn’t be able to do ANYTHING else if I read 100 books a year…not blogging, for sure!

      1. The first thing I need to do is keep a job for longer than a month to get some money saved to go somewhere. Yay, adult life and temporary contracts! (not, haha) There are so many places that I want to go I’m not sure how I’d choose. I’m kind of obsessed with Iceland right now. It looks like such a beautiful place. So if I was allowed to go somewhere right now, it would be there.

      2. Adult life really is something I’m not going to like, I can feel it already. It’s coming to me soon, too soon, though, and I don’t like it, at all, ahah. Oh, Iceland! I’ve been seeing tons of pictures of this country lately, and I have to say, it looks so beautiful.

      3. It really does! I read somewhere that whenever surveys are taken people there always say they are really happy.

Haha! I’m sorry, I think I make adult life sound way worse than it is. I think the first few months out of university are hard for everyone. It’s a weird adjustment. But I think it’ll work out okay eventually. I keep telling myself that being the kind of person everything immediately works out for would be boring, haha.

  8. Did you just graduate from college, Marie? Congratulations! I wish you all the best in your future career! 2016 will be your year 😉

I WILL BE THE NUMBER ONE READER OF YOUR TRAVEL FEATURE! (..although I may just do backreads of blog posts and comment after a really long while since real life is out there demanding lots of stuff)

    1. Thank you Trisha, but no, not yet! I still have six months of internship, and then one last presentation about it -on which depends my entire diploma…- and then yes, I will be graduating from college. (Wow, that’s scary to write…)
Awww, thank you so much, this makes me so happy, I hope you’ll love it! 😀

  9. Ah, I’m sure all of us would like to get to know you more, Marie. So the share more about your personal life is a good one. As little or far as you’re comfortable with, of course. ^.^ And funny you mentioned scheduling… I’ve been on a roll with scheduling lately! I have posts scheduled all the way until late March already. >.< And oh my gosh, how exciting (being done with school and entering the real world). I hope the traveling will alleviate some of the stress of adulting. 🙂

    1. Aw, thank you, Summer! I have to admit, I’m a little shy, so sharing a lot about myself isn’t something I usually like to do, but I want to try more! 😀
Ohh, wow, you’re so lucky, ahah. I hope I can find time to schedule more blog posts, too. You are my role model, ahah.
It’s more stressing than exciting, for now, I’m graduating in June, and in internship until then…hope everything goes well! 😀
      Thank you Summer! ❤
