A merry bookish Christmas to you all!

Hi everyone, how are you in this lovely friday ?! Wait…wait a second. Isn’t it the 25th? YES. Something special happening on that day? Of course. How could I forget.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! 🎅 Whether you celebrate it, or not, I hope you’ll have a wonderful day with your family and loved ones!

For this particular day, I decided do do something a little different, and talk about Christmas. Ashley @ Socially Awkward Bookworm nominated me a while ago, to do the 12 days of Christmas Blogging. Sadly, I haven’t been around too much to schedule those twelve blog posts and to have enough inspiration on my own to answer all of those fantastic questions. So, instead, inspired by this great book tag, I will talk about CHRISTMAS, yay!

SPREADING SOME CHRISTMAS LOVE 🎄

There are so many things I love about this season. It’s cold where I live, I have to wear big sweaters and jackets and scarves and beanies and sometimes it snows. I DON’T like that. BUT there’s something about Christmas, some kind of magic you can’t shake, on this particular day. I love the way the cities are decorated for Christmas – even if, well, they’re talking about saving energy, and lightning up the whole place… isn’t that kind of weird ? -. I love the lights, the magic taking place at that time. I’m lucky enough to live in a country, and in a city that decorates A LOT, for Christmas. My little county in France is famous and very touristic around that time. Everyone comes for Christmas markets, to buy ornaments, drink hot wine and stroll around the city. I’ll let you take a look for yourself at some pictures!

GLORIOUS FOOD TO FILL US UP 🍰

Okay, I’ll admit it, one of the things I love the most about Christmas is, THE FOOD. Because who doesn’t love eating?! I most certainly do. Christmas is a time to cook with the family, prepare a big dinner and do some special food that you don’t cook every day. Because I’m a French cliché, I LOVE foie gras, with apples or a little bit of fig jam. If you ever want to try it, just, DO IT. It’s SO good. Obviously, desserts are the best part. Yule logs are the BEST thing, or, buches, as we say in France. I love choosing which ones to get with my mom. And, since it’s Christmas, well there’s no such thing as eating too much. Christmas was MADE for that. Well, not really, but you get my point.

DEAR SANTA, THIS YEAR I’M WISHING FOR… 🎁

If we’re talking about Christmas, we should mention the gifts part. Buying gifts can be SUCH a struggle. Getting the right things, juggling with the money, DAMN, it’s SO hard. What I love the most about it, though, is the smile on their face when they open their gifts, and they are HAPPY. This is the best feeling in the world. If I’m being selfish a little bit, I can talk about how much I want to open my gifts, too, haha. And you already know what I want, what I’m wishing for, and the personal gifts I will give myself this year. BOOKS. Obviously.

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS! Tell me about your day, and your Christmas celebrations! Do you do anything special on Christmas? Did you get the gifts you hoped for? Important question : WHAT did you EAT?!

What are you thankful for, this year? Let’s chat about all of this in comments! 💬

  1. AHH I thought I’ve been following your blog all along, oops. Now it’s been remedied.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Marie! I’m so jealous that you get to experience a very Christmassy Christmas–I live in Australia and it’s right in the middle of summer here, so it doesn’t really feel like Christmas. Here’s hoping you eat lots of good food and tell us all about it! ❤

    1. Aww you’re sweet! ❤
Oh, well Christmas must be very different in Australia indeed! I didn't get a snowy Christmas sadly, and it was all sunny the past few days, so it didn't feel too much like Christmas, either, haha. I hope for a snowy Christmas sometime ahah 🙂
Thank you so much! I can already tell that I ate too much, but worth it, ahah :p I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! ❤

  2. Merry Christmas Marie! I hope you had a wonderful, happy and joyful Christmas this year. I sure did! I want to see what it’s like in other countries, Australia doesn’t do much in terms of Christmas celebrating. Of course, food is possibly the best part of Christmas. Having Filipino friends has its benefits (they love their food!).

  3. Oh yes OH YES THE FOOD. I have to admit that’s my favourite part. Presents? Eh, I can take it or leave it, but I really love the deliciousness of the special food prepared. I think there’s something special about having certain foods only once a year?!? heh. OH OH and the decorations are so nice too!! I live in a kinda small town? So there’s not a lot going on, but I do like to see pictures of the insanely creative gorgeousness people come up with!!

    1. YES, the food really is my favorite part. Who doesn’t love eating, right?! 😀 Aw, well, you can always make your own Christmas decorations, then! 🙂 I love what people are able to come up with, I wish I were that creative! 😀
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comment, Cait! ❤

  4. Ah, I adore this nonbookish post, Marie! Winter is ironically my favorite season of the year. Though it’s cold, I love how warm and fuzzy the holidays make me feel. Not to mention, the cute wintry clothes (sweaters, boots, scarves…) And I haven’t tried much French food. I’ve had crepes before, which I think is French if I’m not mistaken. I didn’t do much for Christmas day but relax. I hope Christmas was nice to you and that you had a good time though. 😀

    1. Aww I’m so glad to hear that! I’ve been thinking about doing more of these non-bookish posts lately, I’m glad to hear you like it! Maybe I should continue… 🙂
Yes, crepes are French, it’s so good! 😀 If you can, I hope you’ll try some more French food, it’s really what I love the most about my country, ahah 🙂
I didn’t, either, actually, Christmas day is really a relaxing / hanging out day for me, too! I’m so happy to hear that you relax, it’s always good to do that 😀
