Top Ten Tuesday (32) : Top Ten Bookish Things I’m Thankful For

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is a Top Ten freebie about Thanksgiving. I decided to go with a simple theme, and list ten bookish things I’m thankful for. I could go on and on about this, but well, I narrowed it down to ten, you’re lucky! So, what do you say we take a look?

Kind of stating the obvious, there, right? But well, who can blame me. This year particularly, since it’s my first year of blogging, I’m so grateful for this. Book blogging is such a wonderful experience, and I’m so happy to do this every single day.

Can you believe that there are SO MANY great bookish things out there, like tee-shirts with your favorite quotes from books -yes, I do own a tee-shirt with a TFIOS obvious quote, blame me-, or like mugs with Harry Potter and muggles and OH everything you can find with all the books you love stamped on every poster and single piece of thing you can use in your everyday lives. I’m so thankful that this EXISTS.

It doesn’t happen that often, because I’m not a crazy-book-requesting person, because well, I want to have time to read all the wonderful books and write thoughtful reviews about them. But well, whenever I get approved, I just feel so loved and privileged to be able to read a book I really can’t wait to read. So, thank you for that!

Okay, fine. I couldn’t do this list without quoting John Green, I’m so sorry for those of you who don’t like him. Just hear me out, okay. You all have one author that changed your reader’s life, or simply, your life. John Green is that author, for me, so yes I’m thankful for him. Plus, look at him actually smelling a book. This guy’s just like us.

I could spend hours telling you how and why books changed my life and made it better in a billion single ways. Isn’t it amazing, the way that a few words on pages can take you anywhere? It’s incredible, and the best way to escape. I’m so thankful for that little escape. -Yes, that sounded like I’m thankful for our little infinity. I’m sorry about that. Or maybe not.

I was thankful for book blogging, earlier, but I’m WAY more thankful for YOU GUYS. All of you reading this post, all of you taking the time to like and comment, and discuss with me about books and everything. It’s just the best feeling, being part of a bookish community.

I’m not that big of a participant in book bloggers chats on twitter, because they almost ALL take place during a time when I’m asleep on the other side of the world. BUT, I’m always so happy whenever I can catch a chat when I’m online, and share my thoughts with everyone. It’s so exciting.

I know what you’re going to say : aren’t you always bothered when a book is being adapted on the big screen?! Yes, okay, I admit it. I’m often annoyed by this. Okay, most of the time. But there’s nothing more extraordinary than seeing a book come to life, no?..

More than I’d like it to, social media is often taking over my life, and my reading time. I’m constantly on twitter, and that’s bad, I guess. But that’s also a wonderful way to connect with other readers, and to share your love for a book with an author. They are just SO nice and sweet, it warms my heart everytime.

Okay. What more should I add to this list, except the obvious? Let’s all be thankful for BOOKS, because…well, need I say more?!

What bookish things are YOU thankful for? And what NON bookish thing are you thankful for? Let’s share the love this week guys, and spread it in comments!  💬

  1. Hi Marie! I love your blog design, it’s super awesome! I don’t mind John green, but it’s nice to see you’re such an avid fan. I am also super grateful for books (the latest one I’ve finished being Winter) and the book blogging community. I’ve always loved reading, so I can’t say it changed my life, but I can’t imagine life without it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂

    1. Aw thank you so, so much, it means a lot to me! ❤ I've heard a lot about this book, Winter, it's a book from the Lunar Chronicles, right? I might have to check out that series!!
I've been reading books, well, since I can't even remember, it's always been a part of me, too! 🙂
Thank you so, so much for stopping by, and for your sweet comment! ❤

  2. I love your list! I am grateful for the same things, except John Greene I’ve never read any of his books. You’re right getting approved for an arc is the best feeling in the world! I’m so glad that we have met through blogging ❤ Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  3. Who doesn’t love books?? I like books being adapted to the big screen when they are done well. If they are not done well, then they shouldn’t be done! I love being approved for ARC’s, too! Great list, happy reading!

I always feel so excited when I get approved for an ARC, especially if it’s one that I have been dying to read!

    1. Aw, thank you so much, I’m so glad to hear that 😀 Hahahaha, wellt hat’s a way to see film adaptations, I guess! But with series, maybe it makes you want to read the book before the next movie comes out, too, no? 😉
Thank you so much for stopping by, Joey! 😀

  5. Reading these TTT posts is making me so happy today. I am so grateful for my books! As you know, I am also grateful for John Green. Have you listened to him and Hank Green’s podcast? It is one of my favourite things at the moment.

    1. I love that, too! It’s so hard when some friends don’t read as much as you do, and sometimes you’re thinking about bookish-related things to say, and you just stop mid-sentence, realizing that no one would understand…I’m so happy to have people around who do understand that 😀

  6. Oh my goodness yes! The smell of fresh books is the best perfume ever! That’s one thing I’m thankful for. I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING ON THIS LIST, MARIE (except maybe being a John Green fan but go ahead and fangirl! teehee :>)! I’ve just created my bookish Twitter account a few months ago and girl, I regretted not having made it earlier! 😀
