Showtime – August 2015

Hi guys, how are you? I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! I’m very excited, and a little bit anxious, to finally introduce you to a new kind of article on Drizzle and Hurricane Books. Remember how I talked about books turning into movies? Well, now there will be a special category on the blog to talk about that!

“From the pages to the screen” will provide you with the latest news of upcoming movies, tv shows, projects…obviously adapted from young adult books. There will be reviews of those movies on there, too, but also many features about books and movies! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Without further ado, let’s get started !

Showtime – August 2015

ON THE BIG SCREEN

paper towns moviePaper Towns

drama, mystery, romance
Adapted from Paper Towns, by John Green
Director: Jake Schreier
Stars: Nat Wolff, Cara Delevingne, Austin Abrams…

“Everything changes for Quentin when his next-door neighbor and fantasy girl Margo takes him on an unforgettable night adventure in the city…then mysteriously disappears.”

Anticipating :  øøøø
I think you all already know how much I love John Green’s work. This is what makes this excruciating: I don’t really like that his books are being made into movies, for a lot of selfish reasons, sure, and I’m very, very scared about how things will turn out for these books I loved. Nat Wolff is a fantastic actor, and I’ve fallen in love with Justice Smith as Radar, and Halston Sage as Lacey. However, I’m a little less sure about Cara. I didn’t see the movie, yet (it comes out next week in France!), but The Fault in Our Stars adaptation went pretty well, so…fingers crossed.

MY BOOK REVIEWWATCH TRAILER

COMING SOON

The Scorch Trials – September 2015

the scorch trials movie

action, sci-fi, thriller
Adapted from The Scorch Trials, by James Dashner
Director: Wes Ball
Stars: Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster

“They thought they saw the worst back in The Maze…after escaping what seemed to be their worst nightmares, other challenges await the Gladers in the real world.”

Anticipating :  øøøo
To be honest, I’m not sure I will go see this at the movies, or, well, not alone, as the book only already kind of creeped me out. The Maze Runner, the first installment, and its movie adaptation, was very well done, even if I wasn’t satisfied by some of the actors’ choices, which didn’t represent them well, I think. However, I’m still intrigued to see how this goes, and if it manages to be as frightening as the book is. Most of all, if the intrigue still goes on smoothly, too.

WATCH TRAILER

5th-wave-movie-posterThe 5th Wave – January 2016

adventure, sci-fi, thriller
Adapted from The 5th Wave, by Rick Yancey
Director: J. Blakeson
Stars: Chloë Grace Moretz, Maika Monroe, Nick Robinson

“After the fourth wave, almost the whole earth’s population is decimated. Among the survivors, Cassie, 16 years-old, is trying to find her little brother in the chaos…and needs to find who she can really trust. “

Anticipating :  øøoo
Yet another kind of scary, futuristic story, but well, let’s take them as they come! I had a hard time getting hooked to this book, however the casting choices for this movie seems, to me, on point. I absolutely LOVE Nick Robinson, and I’m really excited to see him play in this!

MY BOOK REVIEW

IN DEVELOPMENT

all the bright placesAll the Bright Places – 2017
drama, romance
Adapted from All The Bright Places, by Jennifer Niven
Director: Miguel Arteta
Stars: Elle Fanning

” Violet Markey and Theodore Finch meet at the edge of the bell tower of their school. They save each other and find out how to live, relive, or simply, survive. “

Anticipating :  øøoo
I just finished reading this book and learned it was already going to be a movie. I don’t know if I’m eagerly anticipating this, because well, even if I enjoyed the book, I’m not sure I’m ready for this sob-fest awaiting me when I see this story becoming alive on the big screen. Looking forward to hear more news about the casting, though!

MY BOOK REVIEW

Did you already see Paper Towns, or not? What did you think about it? Note: I am seeing it TODAY and I AM EXCITED, can you tell?! 😀

Are you anticipating any of those movies, why, or why not? Cast choices, first impressions, fears, tell me everything in comments! 🙂

As this is my first post in this category, I’d love to have your impressions on this. How did I do? Which posts are you most excited to read about? Let me know what you think 🙂

  1. I’M LOVING THIS NEW FEATURE ON YOUR BLOG! Like seriously, I love it so much.
I’m hoping to watch Paper Towns soon, because I really enjoyed the book (despite the ending).
I have yet to read The 5th Wave but I had NO IDEA it was going to become a movie! I’m strangely excited about that one. In fact I’m anticipating all of these, even though I havent read the books for them. xoxo

  2. What an awesome feature, Marie!! ❤ Loving it so much.
I really want to see the movie for Paper Towns! I still haven't seen it. :/ And I'm super excited for The Scorch Trials, All the Bright Places and The Fifth Wave, although I'm quite wary of how they may turn out. I enjoyed all of these books and wouldn't want the movie to ruin them.(*Cough* Percy Jackson *Cough*) And I'm definitely not ready for the cryfest awaiting for the movie of All the Bright Places either. 😉
