Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is Top Ten Beach Reads. So, remember last week when I decided to limit myself to a sentence for each book? Well, I’m doing that again, because…it is HARDER THAN IT SEEMS, okay? And well, beach reads. They’re basically sweet books you’ll devour anyway, right? If you want to discover the wonderful books, click on the title for a link to Goodreads!
1 • The Siren, Kiera Cass
A weird Ocean, a summer story yet with heavy nostalgia hanging around..
2 • Second Chance Summer, Morgan Matson
Only if you’re not afraid to weep in front of other people on the beach, handle with care, and love..
3 • The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, Sarah Ockler
Swoon-worthy romance, but definitely more than that.
4 • Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe, Benjamin Alire Saenz
Unique teenager voice ahead..
5 • Just Visiting, Dahlia Adler
A best friends story about growing up and facing the new challenges of life..
6 • 99 Days, Katie Cotugno
An entertaining read for those of you NOT AFRAID / bothered by love triangles..
7 • My life next door, Huntley Fitzpatrick
A close-to-perfection contemporary: big family, realistic relationship, simply life..
8 • Let’s Get Lost, Ali Alsaid
The title says it all, let’s get lost..
9 • Peaches, Jodi Lynn Anderson
Friendships, love, struggles, it’s all about a summer with Peaches, in a Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants kind of vibe..
10 • The Summer series, Jenny Han
There’s no other perfect book to read and re-read in the summer than a great Jenny Han contemporary..
Only if you’re not afraid to weep in front of other people on the beach, handle with care, and love..
Swoon-worthy romance, but definitely more than that.

I actually have a piece of fluff on my list! LOL. My Sci-Fi & Scary Books for the Beach.
I’ll read anything, any time, any where, so doing this one was a hard one for me. I agree that contemporaries just seem to suit, though.
Oh, I get it, I’m one of these people who have to be in the mood for a book, at times, and other times I can read anything, really. It depends, ahah. Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
Such good choices! I love this 🙂 So many fun books to read in the summer! Though with me, reading books such as Second Chance Summer ANYWHERE near the public is a hazard. I will bawl on anyone and I am afraid for the safety of other human beings XD I love contemporaries in the summer and the sweet, fluffy ones are GREAT!
Aww thank you so much, I’m so glad you like my choices 🙂 Haha, well for some reason I can’t stop reading sad books in public. I end up crying like a baby or look like I’m going to have a stroke, and people are always asking if I’m okay, hahahaha. The sweet, fluffy ones are PERFECT indeed 😀
Sad books will be the death of me 😛 We should definitely buddy-read a sad one! We’ll both be blubbering pieces of #forevercrazy humans that like to torture themselves with feelings <3 🙂
Hahaha, oh yes we should. IT would be incredible. We are completely crazy, but it would be AWESOME. Let’s do that soon 😛
Congrats! I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. 🙂
https://thejouskablog.wordpress.com/2016/05/31/the-versatile-blogger-award/
Aww, thank you so much 🙂
You’re welcome! 🙂
Oh these are great picks Marie! I can’t believe I missed Aristotle and Dante off my list though, it’s such an amazing, coming-of-age, summer read!
As for the rest I think you’ve successfully made me add ALL OF THEM to my to read list for this summer, I want to try and expand into contemporary books more and I feel like you’ve given me a perfect starting point! 😀
The Summer of Chasing Mermaids is a book I really need to get around to soon but oh Let’s Get Lost and Just Visiting sound amazing, I want to be able to start reading them right now! 😀
All these summer posts are really making me nostalgic for the summer, it’s pouring down with rain in England at the moment D:
Aww thank you so much Beth, I’m glad you like it! <3 And YES, this makes me so happy I can't wait for you to read all of the contemporaries, with summer coming, it's just the best time to do that.
Oh yes, me too, it doesn't feel like summer AT ALL here either, it's raining like crazy since a few days, and it's kind of cold, where is the sun 🙁
I’m gonna have to do another month of just solid contemporary reading. I have loads on my to-read list and, honestly, when it gets to summer I do tend to pick up more contemporary books. I have a feeling I’m gonna spend a lot of time when it’s sunny in my garden with my Kindle.
I know right! It’s June tomorrow we should be having sun, not clouds and rain! But I guess this is Europe after all! 🙂
Summer is the perfect time for contemporaries. It’s a bit cliché to say so, but I love light, contemporary reads around that time 🙂
Ahah, yes, well where I am I wasn’t expecting any sun anytime soon anyway, ahah 🙂
Another way to look at it is it’s cliche because it’s true! I’m the same, summer is when I get through more contemporary books than fantasy.
We actually had nice weather a little while back, but now it’s June it’s practically winter again, I mean, how does that even work?!
Right? It was so sunny at the beginning of last month, and now it’s like winter’s right around the corner, haha. Maybe if we start reading all the cute, fluffy contemporaries, the summer will come faster 😛
Maybe the whole of mankind (of at least all of Europe’s citizens) slipped into a coma, missed five months and now even though we think it’s June it’s actually November again!
Or maybe we just have terrible weather over here :/
And hey, I’ll be willing to read all the fluffy, cute, summer contemporaries I can get my hands on if that’s what it takes to get us some sunshine! 😀
Hahaha, oh please no, I hope that didn’t happen…. but Beth, you should totally write a book, you come up with the crazier plot-ideas haha 😛
I’d hope it didn’t too but the weather is proving my insane theory right, and who are we to argue with the weather XD
A book with all my crazy ideas would be too insane to read, my brain goes to some weird places at times! 😀
Haha, well… all writers are crazy, I think, so… go ahead and embrace the craziness 😛
I feel like I’m already halfway there! 😀
I have so many of these on my TBR! I really should read some of them
oh you should, and once you did, you have to tell me ALL about it 😀
I have only read two of these books you mentioned. Heard so much amazing stuff about Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. And the blurb of 99 Days on Goodreads sounds interesting! Great list! a lot of stuff added to my TBR haha 😉
Aristotle and Dante is such a great read, if you love coming of age stories, it’s the perfect book, really. Quite a unique teenager voice, and a great story <3 Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it! You'll have to tell me if you read those books soon 😀
I love coming of age stories, I’ll definitely get to this soon. Yet to hear a single bad review on it!
I can’t wait for you to read it 🙂
Haha! I personally wouldn’t read Second Chance Summer in public, but it is a MUST READ! So Great! 😀
My Top Ten Tuesday!
Ahah, well…I did, and it wasn’t the best idea I had, really, hahaha. Thank you so, so much! 🙂
Hahaha! 😀
All these book covers make me want to be a teen again 😛
My TTT.
Well…me too, ahahah 🙂 Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Awesome list! 😀
There are quite a few on this list and I am dying to read!
Thank you so much Ashley! I’ll be waiting for you to read those fantastic books then 😀
I haven’t read any of these books but I can see a theme emerging with them. There is something about the beach that just lends itself to contemporary romances. I think my ideal beach read is easy-going, light and funny. And not something that I’ll care too much if I fall asleep and don’t finish
Oh yes, you’re definitely right about this. It’s so cliché, I know, but there’s soomething about summer time that makes me want to read light books like that 🙂 Exactly! This would be my perfect summer read just as well 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by!
Yes, I also totally love fluffy, happy, feel-good books during summertime 🙂 I also added The Summer of Chasing Mermaids and Aristotle and Dante on my list this week! I really hope to read them soon and I actually already started Ari and Dante today, so I’m super excited 🙂
Yay, I’m so glad to hear that! I hope you will love Ari and Dante, it’s such a cute, quite incredible story 🙂 Thank you so much! <3
I basically love anything by Morgan Matson, Jenny Han, or Huntley Fitzpatrick, so i agree with so much about this list 🙂 haha happy reading this summer!
here’s my TTT!
Oh yay! I’m so glad you like this list, those authors are a must during summertime 🙂 thank you so much Caroline!
Oooo so many good books! Love the list!
Aww thank you so much Poulami!! <3 <3
ooo I like your descriptions for these! Will have to check some of these books out 🙂 My TTT
Oh thank you so much Carrie! I hope you’ll read and love some of these books 🙂
Cute list! All of these books sounds so adorable and sweet! Would love to check out some of them in your list. 😀
They are all adorable and sweet, just the perfect amount you need for summertime 😛 Thank you so much Raven! <3 <3
I don’t read a lot of contemporaries but this looks like a great list! Nice for summertime reading with a favorite drink at hand. 🙂
Well, contemporaries are my to-go genre during summertime 🙂 Thank you so, so much, I’m glad you liked this list! 🙂
Great list! I haven’t read any of these, but most of them are on my TBR list. I can see how all of these would be perfect summer reads! Here’s my TTT. Happy reading and happy summer!
Kim @ Bookworm Book Reviews
Thank you so much Kim, I hope you’ll love those books when you finally read them 🙂 Happy reading to you too! 🙂
My Life Next Door is the only one I’ve read on here, but I want to read so many more of them! Great choices!
My TTT: http://www.anovelglimpse.com/2016/05/31/top-ten-tuesday-down-and-dirty-in-the-sand/
Thank you so much! You should, they’re all perfect for summertime 🙂 thank you <3
How perfect! I just ordered Second Chance Summer and Ari and Dante off Amazon yesterday! 🙂 And the Summer trilogy make perfect summery reads. I read them a really long time ago but I do remember them taking place during the summer. It’s been a while since I’ve read Jenny Han… so I may try to get to To All the Boy I Loved Before this summer (if I can).
Ohhh that’s so great, I can’t wait to hear what you think about both of these titles 🙂 To All The Boys is a perfect summer read as well, I hope you’ll like it <3 Thank you so much, Summer!
Aristotle and Dante is on my list. Love to have diverse reads on the shelf. Great list for summer.
This book was so, so good, I loved it. Thank you so much! 🙂
Wonderful list u have here! 😀 I’ve planned to read Second Chance Summer and The Summer of Chasing Mermaids for a while now but haven’t really get the chance to. Anywayyy, definitely gonna put some of these on my own TBR 😀 My TTT!
Aw thank you so, so much! 🙂 Oh, both of these books were incredible, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about them 🙂
Aaah, Marie, these are all great summer reads! Your list makes me wanna run to the bookstore right now and buy all the titles in here! I would do that if not because of my final exams ???
xo, Kat
Aww well… it probably shouldn’t, but it makes me SO happy, haha, I hope you’ll get to buy at least one of these soon, I’d love to know your thoughts 🙂 Good luck for your final exams Kat! <3 And thank you so much!
Thank you, and see ya ’round here! ❤️
Can’t wait! 🙂
I simply have to agree with all of these, even if I haven’t actually read them all hahaha but The Siren, MLND and SCS are summer/beach reads for sure, so I trust your judgement on the others.
Ahah, thank you! <3 They're all pretty cute and fluffy reads, just the kind of books I want to read on a sunny day 🙂
Makes sense 😀
Did you enjoy Let’s Get Lost? It’s currently sitting unread next to my bed, but from the looks of it it seems like I should put it on my TBR for this summer. Great list!
I really did! It was a quick read, definitely the kind you could enjoy reading on a day out in the sun 🙂 Thank you so, so much! 🙂
Lots of romance for the beach 🙂 I haven’t read any of these books!
Ahah you’re right, I guess I love a good romance for the summer? 🙂 I hope you’ll read one of these at least, they are ALL so good! <3 Thank you so much!
Romance+Summer=maximum heat 😉
I hope so too! You’re welcome 😀
For some odd reason, when I read your blurb for Let’s Get Lost (which literally is in reference to its namesake), I imagined you on page 1 of the book reading on a beach towel, and by page 200, you’ve drifted on some inflatable raft in the middle of the ocean LOL.
Hahahahahaha. Thank you, Joey, you just made this boring and annoying day SO much better with your comment. And well, I hope that doesn’t happen to anyone, hahaha.
Love your choices! Prepping myself for next summer! Never to early to start on summer TBR!
Oh thank you! Haha you’re right, never too early to think about summer 🙂
