Hello friends! I know, I know. It’s Saturday today, and you’re wondering just what I am DOING here. Well, I’m not really here, because… SURPRISE! Today is the day I’m introducing something, REALLY new…I am a VERY nervous bean about all of this.
Remember a while ago, when I revealed that I had a sidekick forever helping me with the blog? Well…today I am welcoming you to a very different and new feature, hosted by THE SIDEKICK in question…my wonderful sister / twinnie / travelling buddy / my ears when I need to scream about books and life and everything. Once a month, my sister will take over Drizzle & Hurricane Books for a very new blog post about different things than books and travelling. Different things we all love – I think ? And I hope you’ll enjoy it. So, without further ado…I’m leaving my sister here with you. TAKE CARE OF HER okay. She’s small. (Okay, you’re gonna read this and yeah okay sorry.) Hi there! I’m so excited to finally meet you all and kinda super nervous about my post at the same time. Hope you’ll like it but before starting let me introduce myself properly. My name is Fanny but I go by Nyx, don’t ask me why I don’t even know haha. Marie’s my adorable little sister (you got that by now i’m sure..). I’m 25 (god I am old!) and I’m currently living in Alsace – France. I’m working in communication, and i’m in love with books, tv shows, travelling and food. I think it’s enough for now…;)

NYX IS COOKING ?
Let’s get right into it and start with…*drumrolls please* a French recipe ! Madeleines are tea cakes, best known for their elegant shell shape. Their flavor is sweet and it goes perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee. For all those dessert suckers out there, the best is to add Nutella in the bottom of the tin, the batter poured on top of it and there you go, you have the perfect 4 p.m snack, a combinaison of buttery sweetness and caramelized sugar from the baked Nutella.
LET’S BAKE !
1. Melt the butter in a microwave or saucepan ;
2. In another bowl, blend the eggs and sugar together until well mixed. Add the flour and the baking powder and continue mixing ;
3. Add the melted butter and the milk until you get a batter nor too thick nor too liquid ;
4. Let it rest for about half an hour ;
5. Butter a madeleine tin and place a small dollop of nutella into the center of each well. Spoon the batter into the madeleine forms over the nutella until 3/4 full. The madeleines will rise while cooking ;
6. Bake the madeleines for 10 minutes. Don’t open the oven door if you don’t want the characteristic dome to deflate !
INGREDIENTS – for approximately 30 madeleines :
? 100 g. of butter
? 3 eggs
? 150 g. of sugar
? 200 g. of flour
? About 10 g. of baking powder
? Some (well…a lot if you’re fond of chocolate) tablespoons of Nutella
? Some tablespoons of milk (to ajust depending on the batter)

Apart from cooking and well.. eating, i am also a huge tv shows addict. I know what you’re thinking and no i am not fat. I’m actually really small (yes it’s true, my sister is right haha)! Let’s stay on topic, and yes this show i’m going to talk about is old but it’s one of my favorites (you should all know that my all-time favorite is and forever will be… FRIENDS). Maybe you’ll even want to do a rewatch after reading what’s next… This american teen drama television series is about a bunch of rich kids living on the West Coast…welcome to the OC !
WHAT’S THE STORYLINE? ?
Created by Josh Schwartz, the OC portrays the lives of a group of teenagers and their families residing in the wealthy, upper-class, seaside neighborhood of Newport Beach, in Orange County, California. A troubled youth, Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie) winds up in the midst of this high-class society. He is adopted by the philanthropic and wealthy Kirsten (Kelly Rowan) and Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher). Along the seasons, we watch Ryan and his « brand new » brother Seth (Adam Brody), a socially awkward yet quick-witted teenager, dealing with life as outsiders and navigating their relationships with girl-next-door Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and Seth’s childhood crush Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson).
SHOULD I WATCH IT? ?
The OC is a show both witty and self-aware. It underlines themes such as inter-generational conflict, social class, alcoholism and drug addiction, political activism, emotional insecurity… These topics are tackled sometimes with lighthearted comedy and sometimes with heightened drama which makes the OC a surprisingly enjoyable TV soap opera. You get quickly drawn in and you can easily relate to the struggles the characters are going through even if their day-to-day lives are completely foreign from our own (i don’t know about you, but i do not have a pool in my house, i don’t own a boat or fancy clothes and jewerly that cost a arm and a leg !). Of course, it’s sometimes corny, melodramatic and predictable, but hell it works ! The plus? A great soundtrack !
The OC originally aired on the Fox network in the United States from 2003 to 2007, running a total of four seasons. It received generally positive reviews from critics, especially for the first and second season. However, the third one was met with mostly negative reception before coming back with a brand new energy for the final season.

I haven’t watched The OC yet but Friends will always be my favourite TV show! I’ve watched that show back to back probably about 6-7 times, no joke. I’m currently into Modern Family, though. Have you seen that one yet?

I have seen a few episodes of Modern Family, but one day I should really start by the first one. Green tea madeleines?! That’s such a great idea. I know! I even sometimes mouth the words for the characters as they’re saying it in Friends, haha. I am OBSESSED, I swear it’s to a point where it’s not healthy anymore. 😛
I’d recommend Modern Family! I don’t find it as funny as Friends, but I love the whole family theme they have there, and I think it has a bit more universal appeal as you get to see characters in various stages of their lives. 🙂

I can’t say I’ve heard of Madeleines before, but anything that has Nutella in it then I’m sold! I occasionally bake, but it never really turns out too well ? My younger sisters have more success though so I think I might throw out some subtle hints for them to try this.
The OC was my entire life! I loved that show so much. I was so sad when it ended. I don’t feel like any teen drama will compare to how brilliant it was. I really need to rewatch the series!
