Most Anticipated Books For the Second Half of 2023
YA Books

All that’s Left To Say, Emery Lord
One year ago, Hannah’s cousin Sophie died of an overdose. Obsessed about figuring out who gave her those pills, she enrolls at her cousin’s fancy private school and starts her investigation… This book sounds excellent, filled with secrets, a maybe falling for my enemy trope, complex friendships and I’m so here for this okay.

The Legacies, Jessica Goodman
I’m obsessed with Jessica Goodman’s YA books, honestly. I’m so excited for this one, because it has everything I love: an exclusive club in New York, a scholarship kid suddenly getting in, a night of secrets getting out… this sounds exciting and fun and I’m all here for that kind of book.

All Alone With You, Amelia Diane Coombs
My favorite’s releasing a new book and you can bet I’ll read it asap. Grumpy/sunshine trope, an socially anxious main character forced out of her comfort zone… just, everything I love. Like the author’s other YA contemporary books, I expect this one to be a hit, for me.

The Meadows, Stephanie Oakes
Is this a queer YA dystopian story?! YES PLEASE? Plus I adore that cover, okay. This one’s about Eleanor, accepted at the Meadows, a strange institution with dark secrets… and four years later, she’d forced to face what happened in this place, and to the girl she fell for.

How To Find a Missing Girl, Victoria Wlosok
A sapphic detective agency? yes please? A year ago, Iris’ older sister disappeared… and now it’s her ex-girlfriend’s turn. Determined to find the culprit, Iris starts investigating… this one has mystery, an enemies-to-something-promising relationship and it sounds really fun!

You Could Be So Pretty, Holly Bourne
I’m a huge, huge fan of Holly Bourne’s work and her latest release sounds… SO GREAT okay. It’s a dystopian novel where girls are supposed to maintain impossible beauty standards and I know that one’s going to be highly entertaining and also… will feel, like any other Holly Bourne book, way too real.

And Don’t Hold Back, Rebecca Barrow
I loved This Is What It Feels Like by this author (a YA contemporary), so I’m looking forward to seeing her in another genre! This one’s a mystery about Harlow, always having to run away because of her mother. When her mother dies, she tells her to keep running… but Harlow has no idea what she’s actually running from. This sounds so intriguing!

Up in Flames, Hailey Alcaraz
Let’s take a second to fall for this cover, shall we? I adore it with all of my heart okay. Up in Flames is about Ruby, seeing her whole life… literally going up in flames because of California’s wildfires. Popular, wealthy, entitled Ruby is suddenly the head of the family, forced to deal with incredibly complicated situations… this sounds so good and I have a feeling I’d LOVE this MC.

The Rosewood Hunt, Mackenzie Reed
Lily can’t wait to take over her grandma’s business. But when she suddenly dies and Lily finds out that a quarter of a billion dollar is missing from her fortune, Lily doesn’t know what to do next. There’s a treasure hunt, secrets, and apparently a friends to rivals to lovers romance I’m here for.

People To Follow, Olivia Worley
Ten teen influencers on a remote island, for a reality TV show…a body and secret, anonymous messages. That’s the gist of this book and I’m so, so excited to see what happens, next!!

Every Time You Go Away, Abigail Johnson
Abigail Johnson’s Every Other Weekend ruined me. Like, it was SO good, I’m so excited to read more from her. Every Time You Go Away has childhood friends being separated then reunited, complicated family relationships (dealing with grief and substance abuse) and.. I know this is going to break my heart, and yet. Here I am.

Adult Books I Can’t Wait to Read

You, With a View, Jessica Joyce
Two high school enemies reunite for a road trip?! Yes please?! Noelle’s grieving her grandmother when she finds a picture of her, with a man. As she tries to find him, she ends up in touch with the man’s grandson… her high school nemesis. Somehow, they end up together on a road trip and that sounds all kinds of fun okay. I’m so excited to read this!

Business or Pleasure, Rachel Lynn Solomon
Rachel Lynn Solomon is one of my favorite author of ALL times, and I’m so excited to read more from her! Business or Pleasure is about Chandler, a ghostwriter. After spending a disappointing night with a charming man, she finds out he’s no other than Finn, the actor she has to ghostwrite for, next. Together, they strike a deal: when they’re not writing, she tries and teaches him the art of seduction… this sounds like so much fun! And Rachel’s just so good at all the tension, I’m ahh!!
