FINALLY, I can talk about Seven Percent of Ro Devereux. I’ve been holding off the review until HarperCollins Union won their fight (more about it here 🔥✊) and I’m THRILLED they did. Super excited now to promote all of these HC books I kept on hold. Well, actually, there’s ONE and it’s this one and it’s AMAZING okay. Let’s get to the review!

The app will even match users with their soul mates. Though it was only supposed to be a class project, MASH quickly takes off and gains the attention of tech investors.
Ro’s dream is to work in Silicon Valley, and she’ll do anything to prove to her new backing company—and the world—that the app works. So it’s a huge shock when the app says her soul mate is Miller, her childhood best friend with whom she had a friendship-destroying fight three years ago. Now thrust into a fake dating scenario, Ro and Miller must address the years of pain between them if either of them will have any chance of achieving their dreams.
Fans of Emma Lord and Alex Light will love this stand-alone contemporary novel with a masterful slow-burn romance at its core.

• You know me, I’m a huge fan of YA contemporary. Well, it turns out I’m even more of a fan when these YA contemporary book have unique concepts and just, packs a whole damn lot of emotions. Seven Percent of Ro Devereux gave me exactly that. It’s about Ro, a teenager that built a revolutionary app to predict your future. What job you’ll do, how many kids you’ll have, where you’ll live… and who you’ll end up with. To prove it works, she’ll have to pretend to fall for Miller, her ex-childhood best friend.
• I mean. Let me talk for a second about the childhood friends trope, because it has my ENTIRE HEART. Here, I absolutely adored the way it played out. Miller and Ro are a bit estranged after some drama in the past. I found them reconnecting, struggling with their feelings, and the whole fake-dating-my-childhood-friend just… my heart.
• It also helps that Miller is such an adorable character, the softest cinnamon roll ever, okay. I loved him!

• Obviously, I have to talk about the main character for a bit. Ro’s a bit of an obstinated person, she doesn’t want to go to college, but her father wants her to. I think that’s a topic that’s super interesting and needs to be tackled more in YA. I loved how smart, talented and just how REAL she felt. I was rooting for her from page one until the very end.
• I really loved the topics the book handled, such as: can you really predict your entire future with an app? If you could, would you and, most importantly…. should you? This really made me think (and sometimes a bit anxious, I’ll admit it), but I LOVED that topic so much. Like I said it just before, I also really enjoyed the talks about going off to college and how it’s not the only path to follow.

Seven Percent of Ro Devereux somehow went after my heart, caught it and did NOT let go. I absolutely adored the story, the characters and I just felt so, so much while reading. Definitely recommending this book. I know I’ll be eagerly waiting to read more from this author!
