Review: Eight Nights of Flirting, Hannah Reynolds

If you’re looking for a great winter holiday read, I can recommend Eight Nights of Flirting, for sure. I was pleasantly surprised by this heartwarming, fun and super endearing contemporary read! Check out my full review below.

I ENJOYED…

• Determined to win her crush’s heart this Hanukkah, Shira asks her former crush/nemesis Tyler to teach her how to flirt. Sounds fun, right? I loved this premise right from the start and was really, really excited to see how this would play out.
• Shira was such a great main character to follow. She would have been really relatable to 16-years-old me, I think. She’s struggling with how to flirt, how to connect with people and build true, real connections in friendships. Yet, she’s also determined, a whole lot of fun and, even if a bit lost with what to do with herself, has this super passionate side I loved discovering. She’s really awkward and having a hard time showing who she really is, at times, but… as a whole, she just felt like a real, flawed teenager. I loved that so much.
• One of the highlights of this book was, obviously, the romance. If you can guess what will happen in the story a little bit, I didn’t mind it one bit. I loved seeing the feelings between the characters growing, their banter and every single one of their interactions warmed my heart SO much.

• Overall, I think Eight Nights of Flirting is a perfect holiday read. It has this snowy Nantucket setting and you can perfectly picture all the holiday lights set up in the house, the candles, the Hanukkah Jewish traditions, the cold and snow falls and ice skating and warm cup of hot chocolate. A perfect read for this time of the year!
• One of my favorite aspects of the book was the family. Shira has a BIG family, a family that matters to her deeply and it shows. I loved that so much, seeing her interact with her grandparents, the ton of cousins she has and so on. If you like stories with big families, you shoud like this one.
• Aside from the romance, the story includes a little bit of a mystery, as Shira and Tyler try to discover the secrets behind a box they found in the attic. While this certainly was a side plot, I found that it added some exciting fun to the book, as well!

• While I loved the big family, I sometimes found myself a little lost between all the cousins.
