As a fan of Sophie Gonzales’ books so far, I had to get to her most recent release as soon as I could. I mean… this is about two girls going on a reality TV show, one to get revenge on her ex, the other to convince him to fall for her again. Sounds messy and a whole lot of fun, right?! Well, it was. When their now famous ex-boyfriend asks them to participate in a teen reality show, two eighteen year old girls—one bent on revenge, the other open to rekindling romance—get tangled up in an unexpected twist when they fall for each other instead in Never Ever Getting Back Together by nationally and internationally-bestselling and Indie Next Pick author Sophie Gonzales.
It’s been two years since Maya's ex-boyfriend cheated on her, and she still can’t escape him: his sister married the crown prince of a minor European country and he captured hearts as her charming younger brother. If the world only knew the real Jordy, the manipulative liar who broke Maya’s heart.
Skye Kaplan was always cautious with her heart until Jordy said all the right things and earned her trust. Now his face is all over the media and Skye is still wondering why he stopped calling.
When Maya and Skye are invited to star on the reality dating show Second-Chance Romance, they’re whisked away to a beautiful mansion—along with four more of Jordy’s exes— to compete for his affections while the whole world watches. Skye wonders if she and Jordy can recapture the spark she knows they had, but Maya has other plans: exposing Jordy and getting revenge. As they navigate the competition, Skye and Maya discover that their real happily ever after is nothing they could have scripted.

I ENJOYED…
☂️
- The reality TV show setting. You know me: I’m a sucker for all of these stories dealing with reality TV, celebrities and anything a little “behind the scenes”. Here, I found it SO much fun to read! It was great to see how involved the producers were, how much drama they wanted to create, how the star of the TV show, Jordy, reacted and always wanted to show off the better parts of himself, as well (and his naked torso, apparently, as well, aerm). This entire setting and all the drama it created made this book super entertaining and exciting to read, from page one.
- The dual POV. Told from both Skye and Maya’s, point of view, this story gives us, at first, two very different characters to follow.
- Maya’s determined to get revenge on her ex, Jordy, for cheating on her by exposing him on live TV. She was my favorite. I loved her “don’t mess with me attitude” and her determination to get revenge, but most of it all, I loved seeing her grow, change and realize what matters the most.
- Skye was a great character to follow, as well. At first, she wants to get Jordy back, but I absolutely loved how we see her change and understand what kind of person Jordy really is, deep down. I loved her organized, always planning things ahead attitude so much, because, relatable.

- The cast of contestants was wonderful. I loved all of these girls SO much. They all had different personalities and goals and yet, at times, they just understood and stood with each other. I loved that girl power attitude so much.
- The sapphic rom-com. Absolutely wonderful to see these two bisexual main characters fall for each other unexpectedly.
- FUN! This book really made me laugh and smile and I’m here for that.
I HAD A HARD TIME WITH…
☂️
- I think, in the end, I just wanted a bit more. More of each of these main characters, maybe a deeper look into their past relationships with Jordy, get a better sense of who they are aside from that relationship, as well.

The premise sounds soo good, but I admit I’m a bit worried about the characterizations. I’m glad it seems like there’s a lot of character and romance development!
