Hi bookish friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful month so far! Today I’m coming back to you with my monthly feature, Showtime. Because we all imagine stories in our minds, but what happens when they become alive in front of our eyes? In this feature, I’ll provide you with the latest news of upcoming movies, tv shows and projects in development, obviously related with young adult books.
Today, I’m going to do something a little different than the other times, because I didn’t find any movie coming out in october. So let’s take a look at some upcomings book adaptations. Whether they’re in development, or in pre-production…which one are you the most excited for?!
Please note that my sources are, well, the internet, and, when talking about book to movie adaptations, nothing is as sure as seeing the official trailer, and seeing the actual movie on the big screen. If they’re in development, this sadly doesn’t mean it’s going to happen soon, but let’s keep our fingers crossed! 🙂
Showtime – October 2015
PRE-PRODUCTION
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
drama, romance
Adapted from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, by Jennifer E. Smith

Director: Dustin Lance Black
Stars: Hailee Steinfeld, Robert Sheehan
So, okay, I had NO idea this was going to be a movie, and honestly, I’m really excited about it, now. I really enjoyed the book, it was such a sweet, entertaining story, and I cared for the characters a lot. Plus, I loved that this story left a big part to the family, too, and not only focused on the romance. I don’t think this cast is bad, I don’t know those actors well, so I can’t really tell…I hope to hear some more news about this soon!
IN DEVELOPMENT
Let it Snow

comedy, romance
Adapted from Let it snow, by John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle

I know, it’s not Christmas yet and there’s no reason for me to talk about a little snow right now…but let’s, anyway, shall we! As you all know, I’m a big fan of John Green’s work, and I really enjoyed Let it snow, for what he, and the others wrote, obviously. I think this would make a really interesting, Christmas-y movie, to watch under the covers on a snowy night! It’s, according to IMDb, scheduled for next winter…let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Chaos Walking
fantasy
Adapted from Chaos Walking, by Patrick Ness

To be honest, I have no idea if this is going to happen, or not…but wouldn’t everyone around here love to? I didn’t read this book yet -I definitely need more money to get some new books, haha-, but having heard everything about this story, I’m just really excited to know it’s going to be a movie. A while ago, Variety announced Jamie Linden to write the screenplay, but since then…no news…do any of you guys know anything about this?

Everything, Everything
romance
Adapted from Everything, Everything, by Nicola Yoon
![]()
Yet another book on my TBR that I absolutely need to read as soon as possible! I’ve only heard great things about this, so obviously I’m excited…and did you guys know that the rights for this movie were optioned by MGM? Well, I didn’t until just now, ahah. Actually, the article is a little bit dated, but since we have no news of that yet… can we say, no news, good news? Let’s wait and see!

So excited about Everything, Everything and Chaos Walking! I still need to finish up the series though, but The Knife of Never Letting Go was so amazing! Everything, Everything was amazing as well. 🙂
I keep hearing about those two books, I really need to do a book haul very soon! I still have so much to read, I can’t keep up, but the temptation is sooo big, haha 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment Ashley <3
Hopefully you can get them too and enjoy them! 🙂
I hope so, too! Thank you Ashley! 🙂
I didn’t know that The Knife of Never Letting Go was being adapted!! More reason for me to read it sooner! It’s been on my shelf for a while now. I’m excited about Everything Everything. I thought it was an adorable book. I do think that the formatting of the book and the little notes in it are the main reasons why it’s so enjoyable. I don’t know how that will translate to film…
I also really loved The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight. I think it would be a really great movie!
I didn’t know that either! I have this book on my TBR for a while, now, too, and I should read it soon hopefully 🙂
I didn’t read Everything, Everything, yet, but it sounds so cute, I can’t wait! 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
I really hope The Knife of Never Letting Go gets adapted. I remember seeing hints about a movie adaptation but it seems to be very on the down low, which makes me sad. But I’m so excited for basically all of these!
Loving this feature Marie!
It’s so bothering, there are times we get excited about a book becoming a movie, only to find out it’s not going to happen. I really hope this one will get adapted, I think there are lots of people who’d love that!
Thank you so much Josie! <3
I’m really excited for The Statistical Probability! And I love Hailee, so I’m positive she’ll do a great job! I haven’t read the Chaos Walking series yet 🙁 but it looks super fantastic!
I don’t know this actress very well, but I really love The Statistical Probability, so I can only hope she’s great in it! 😀
I haven’t read this series yet, either, but yay, we should read it soon 😀
