Happy Pride Month, friends 🌈 Whether you’re out and proud, quiet or loud, questioning or completely comfortable with yourself, I hope you all know how valid and incredible you are.
I’ve had my share of blog posts written with YA books for pride month, if I’m being honest. I mean, I already wrote 3 differents lists for the past years, filled with books I absolutely adore and will always recommend.

Since there are lots and lots of recommendations out there, today, I wanted to highlight a couple of books that are still on my TBR, for a change. You all know it: with, like, so many books waiting to be read, I won’t get around to these tomorrow, but… I really hope to, someday, because they all sound lovely.

10 YA Books on my TBR: Pride Month Edition
Ophelia After All, Racquel Marie
Not going to lie: I’ve been wanting to read Ophelia After All since… well, forever. It sounds like such an incredible coming of age story about Ophelia, trying to figure out who she really is and who she really loves. Apparently it’s a wonderful contemporary read, with great friendships and it will have my whole heart. I can’t wait.

Imogen, Obviously, Becky Albertalli
Imogen’s heterosexual, but she knows it all about queer media discourse. Surrounded by queer friends and family, she thinks she knows who she really is, until her best friend Lili pretends they’ve dated, in the past. Starts a real questioning about her sexual identity… This sounds like such an important bi-awakening story.

Love and Other Natural Disasters, Mia Sugiura
This one has been on my TBR for quite a while, now, I’ll admit it. It has sapphic fake-dating (!!!)… on one side, to make an ex jealous and on the other side… to turn the fake romance into something real. Sounds fun, right?!

Loveless, Alice Oseman
I’m a huge fan of Alice Oseman’s work and yet… I haven’t read that one. I’m not sure why, exactly. Maybe it’s the really mixed reviews, or maybe it’s just because I got distrated. Either way, I still want to try this one out. In this story, Georgia’s never been in love, never kissed anyone… and doesn’t even know if she wants, to. It’s a story about figuring out your sexuality, being asexual and aromantic.

We’ll Never Tell, Wendy Heard
I’ve been really into YA thriller/mysteries lately and this one sounds absolutely EXCELLENT. A group of teen own a viral YouTube channel where they explore some of the most intriguing stories in Hollywood. To go out with a bang, they go and film at an infamous “murder house”… This sounds super fun… and with lgbtqia+ rep so YAY!

The Girl Next Door, Cecilia Vinesse
Cleo has her whole future planned… until her boyfriend Daniel dumps her for the head cheerleader, Kiki. With her ex-best friend Marianne (who’s also, unfortunately, been dumped by her ex…Kiki) , they decide to start a fake-dating scheme to mess things up a bit. Until, you know, feelings get in the way… I love fake-dating stories and this one sounds so fun!!

Venom & Vow, Anna-Marie McLemore & Elliott McLemore
I’ve had a complicated relationship with Anna-Marie McLemore books, in the past, but… when I heard “a transgender prince in hiding and a bigender assassin, falling for each other… while trying to destroy each other” I was just like: okay. I’m not a big fantasy reader but this sounds all kinds of awesome. I might need this in my life.

Out of Character, Jenna Miller
A fat, queer main character obsessed with a book series and taking part in an online role-playing game based on it? yes please?! I love stories with geeky characters stuck in their own world (I mean, relatable) and this one sounds amazing. Especially because things will get all messed-up (obviously) between reality, fiction, falling in love online while dating offline.

Lucha of the Night Forest, Tehlor Kay Mejia
I absolutely love Tehlor Kay Mejia’s We Set the Dark on Fire, I really hope to read that book soon. It’s about a girl who would do anything to save her sister (this is so for me), it has dark forces and forbidden queer romance and hello! Also this cover looks too beautiful I need it.

Picture Us in the Light, Kelly Loy Gilbert
I’ll admit it: this one has been on my TBR for years. I’m afraid to read it, because I know it will break my heart in a thousand, million pieces. It’s about Danny, discovering a big, shattering secret in his family’s past. Oh, and it doesn’t help that he’s in love with his best friend, as well. This sounds heartbreakingly beautiful.
