Hi everyone! How are you doing? How was October? Here, everything’s a mess but I guess it’s a mess everywhere. Still managed to have some good times though. Celebrated my sister’s birthday in the lovely city of Reims. Had a few sunny days at home as well. I’m really not looking forward to winter. I just wish we could erase all this bloody year and start over.
Anyway, I’m back on the blog today, yaay! And it’s the first time I’m writing a post with that brand new editor! Exciting isn’t it?! By the way, how gorgeous is this new blog???! I know I know… enough rambling. Today, I’m going to talk about the books I’m REALLY excited to read in 2021! Books I could possibly rate 5 stars… If you know me at all, you would know that it isn’t a rate I give lightly! So… here we go, I hope my list will make your TBR grow even more!
☂️ Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

Crazy Rich Asians meets The Princess Diaries ?? Hum…I’m all in!! It’s a story about Izumi, a Japanese-American girl who discovers her senior year of high school that she’s really a princess of Japan.
It deals with royalty, secrets, customs and it takes place in Japan! Finaly a change of scenery! It sounds like a perfect little guilty pleasure, one I’ll probably devour in one sitting!
☂️ Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Probably my most anticipated read of 2021! I’m totally in love with Taylor Jenkins Reid, I’ve loved ALL of her books. I adore her writing and her characters are always so three-dimensional, real and flawed.
This one is about Nina Riva’s annual end-of-summer party in Malibu. The alcohol will flow, the music will play, and the loves and secrets that shaped this family’s generations will all come bubbling to the surface. By midnight the party will be completely out of control. By morning, the Riva mansion will have gone up in flames. It sounds AWESOME!
☂️ A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions by Sheena Boekweg
Behind every powerful man is a trained woman, and behind every trained woman is the Society. OK, I’m already hooked and I haven’t even read the whole blurb yet!
Taking place in 1926, seventeen-year-old Elsie, along with four other teenage girls, are being trained to win the future President’s heart. This is a chance at the most powerful position in the Society. It’s a story dealing with politics and feminism and I’m all in!
☂️ The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He
First of all, look at that gorgeous cover! It’s so pretty I could cry!! This one is science fiction and I’m really really excited about it. This is the story of Cee who awoke on an abandoned island. With no idea of how she was marooned, she only has a rickety house, an old android, and a single memory: she has a sister, and Cee needs to find her.
It sounds fierce, dark, twisted and it’s about sisters!! Apparently it’s a bit like We Were Liars but with a sci-fi scope. I’m 100% here for this!
☂️ The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Another author I’m really into! Rachel Lynn Solomon is one of the queens of contemporary and I’m really looking forward to this one! The Ex Talk features Shay, a producer at a Seattle public radio station, and her new infuriating colleague Dominic. When their boss decides that they will be the perfect co-hosts for The Ex Talk, a show where two exes will deliver relationship advice live, it all gets a bit complicated.
Enemies-to-lovers? Fake exes? Workplace romance? A+ banter? Count me in!
☂️ What’s Not to Love by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
An academic enemies-to-lovers YA with drama and romance? Yes! Yes! Yes! What’s Not to Love is about Alison and Ethan who, since high school began, have compete on almost everything. Of course, both of these two over-achievers have their eyes set on Havard. So when the principal assigns them the task of co-planning a previous class’s ten-year reunion, with the promise of a recommendation for Harvard, they both agree. What they didn’t see coming is the more time they spend time together the closer they become… With banter and slow burning romance, this one sounds right up my alley!
☂️ Sisters of the Snake by Sasha & Sarena Nanua
Deadly magic, hidden temples, and dark prophecies: this sounds thrilling! Princess Rani longs for a chance to escape her gilded cage and prove herself. Ria is a street urchin, stealing just to keep herself alive. When these two lives collide, everything turns on its head: because Ria and Rani, orphan and royal, are unmistakably identical. A deal is struck to switch places – but danger lurks in both worlds, and to save their home, thief and princess must work together. Or watch it all fall into ruin. I bet I’m going to love this action-packed and immersive fantasy!
☂️ How We Fall Apart by Katie Zhao
Crazy Rich Asians meets One of Us is Lying?? Consider me hooked!! This YA thriller is about students at an elite prep school who are forced to confront their secrets when their ex-best friend turns up dead and they’re the prime suspects in her murder. This story raises questions about the structure of hyper-competitive school environments, strict upbringings, racial identity and the sacrifices made to maintain the image of immigrant success.
I bet it’s going to be an edge-of-your-seat read.
☂️ Influence by Sara Shepard
I really enjoyed reading Pretty Little Liars, I devoured them (even tough she needed to stop the series WAY before the 544th book…) ! I’m really excited about this one because it seems SO addictive.
It’s a twisty mystery that takes place in the fiercely competitive world of Internet stars. To everyone watching online, their lives seem perfect… but are they really??!
☂️ The Future Is Yours by Dan Frey
If you had the chance to look one year into the future, would you? I’m intrigued… what about you?! This one is science fiction and deals with time travel!! It’s about two best friends who create a computer that can predict the future. But what they can’t predict is how it will tear their friendship – and society – apart.
Told through emails, texts, transcripts, and blog posts, this book raises questions about the costs of innovation and how far you’d go to protect the ones you love.
