A virgin, some royalty and an unfortunate exchange

Hi guys! How are you? How was your month? For my part, I’m in a really good mood because spring is on its way!! YEEES! With summer, it’s actually my favorite season. Otherwise, I’ve been kind of busy with work and I’m looking forward to some well-deserved days off.

Today, I’m going to talk about…*drum rolls* tv shows! I’m a huge tv shows addict (well, there are worst cases out there, believe me haha! [a little edit from Marie, HELLO THERE KAT we were thinking about you. oops]), I love discovering new stuff and, also, I adore re-watching old ones.

In terms of tv shows, I enjoy comedy. I like to laugh and have a good time while watching something, it makes me forget all responsibilities for a while! I also like romance, drama and a bit of mystery/fantasy. My all-time favorite is and always will be FRIENDS. And here’s a short and non-exhaustive list of what I like (old and new) so we can all talk about it in the comments and YES PLEASE gimme recommendations : Revenge, The OC, Modern Family, Gilmore Girls, Hart Of Dixie, Cougar Town, How I Met Your Mother, Dawson’s Creek, Desperate Housewives, Gossip Girl, etc.

I’m going to introduce you to my 3 current obsessions : Jane the Virgin, The Royals and Switched at Birth. I bet you all, at least, heard about them so I’ll be super glad if it makes you want to watch them! Β

What’s it about ?

COMEDY. A religious young latina virgin becomes pregnant after being accidentally artificially inseminated.

5 reasons why you should watch it :Β

  1. The characters are real and lovable
  2. The writing is witty
  3. A refreshing tv show with a strong presence of cultural diversity
  4. Genuinely funny with just the right amount of twists
  5. Great portrait of family

What’s it about ?

DRAMA. The hectic life of the British royal family, summed up in three words : lies, heartbreak and political drama.

5 reasons why you should watch it :Β

  1. Taking a peak behind the scenes of the royal family’s life? Yes please!
  2. Top notch acting
  3. Beautiful setting
  4. Entertaining story lines
  5. The drama, the drama and…YES the drama!

What’s it about ?

FAMILY. Two teenagers girls, who each grew up in a very different environment, discover that they were switched at birth.

5 reasons why you should watch it :Β

  1. Finally a show about the deaf community!
  2. Original plot
  3. Addresses touchy subjects like racism
  4. HeartwarmingΒ stories
  5. Endearing characters

Already seen those tv shows? Did you enjoy them? If not, do you want to watch them now that you’ve read my article? I’m always looking for new ones, which seriesΒ should I ABSOLUTELY do not miss?

  1. I actually watch both Jane The Virgin and The Royals, but I am a couple of episodes behind on both shows unfortunately! I can’t wait to catch up and see what’s been going on – especially with The Royals!

  2. My current obsession is Jane the Virgin! They just added it to Netflix here in Canada and I’ve been binge-ing it like crazy! I love it. I don’t know if you ever watched Ugly Betty (it’s a great show) but I get those same vibes from it and a dash of Devious Maids (probably helps that both of those series are also inspired by telenovelas).

The Royals is next on my list to watch. The drama just looks so juicy! And I’m obsessed with anything to do with Royals πŸ˜›

    1. I SO get it, that show is so addictive! Yeees Ugly Betty! I haven’t watched all episodes, I really should 😊 And Devious Maids, love it! We have the same tastes 😁😁 You really should, I bet you’ll become obsessed haha 😊

  3. I’ve seen a couple episodes of Jane the Virgin, but I never did end up finishing that series! I plan to but the feel is very ~telenovela~ and I only like those during certain moods, haha.

I’ve seen glimpses of The Royals and Switched at Birth on TV too but never really got into them! Perhaps I will now that you’ve recommended them – The Royals, especially, look intriguing. I love anything to do with the British royal family and it would certainly be interesting to look “behind the scenes”!

    1. I get what you mean, sometimes you’re just not in the mood to watch some types of shows. But I really hope you’ll continue, it’s really good. Yeeees, please do and we’ll talk all day about it haha! 😁

  4. First, I am the Queen of TV, I would have been offended if your first thought hadn’t been of me hahaha
Obviously I’ve seen and enjoyed all of those shows. I am pretty sure that 99% of the people in my vicinity got introduced to the Royals through me, Jane the Virgin did something I am not quite ready to forgive them and is therefore on hold right now and I am sad to see Switched at Birth ending, even though I am glad it’s getting a proper finale.
You should never ask me for recommendations, I am VERY hard to shut up once I get started. I already talked to Marie and recommended Riverdale and Imposters to her, you should definitely check out the pilots and tell me what you think of them! I could also really see you liking No Tomorrow πŸ˜€ I grinned throughout most of those episodes. Maybe you’d also like One Day at a Time which got a remake on Netflix? Other than that The Arrangement had a killer first episode, but that’s all there is so far. It’s from the network who makes the Royals though, so that will be their program while their deciding on what to do in Season 4.

    1. Hahaha, yeees you’re definitely the Queen of TV, no doubt about that! 😁 You’re right about The Royals! Ughh yes about Jane the Virgin…still not over that!! Seriously WHY WHY WHY?! Still watching though, loving Jane character so much 😊 And I’m kinda nervous about the ending of Switched at Birth, hope it’ll be good. Aaaaah YEEES, thank you for all those recommendations, I will definitely check those out! 😘😘

      1. Just to clarify, because I just realised how obnoxious that must have sounded, I did not crown myself Queen of TV, okay? hahaha Someone else said that and I gladly accepted the title.
I hear you on Jane, but I just need some time to digest that, because I am not getting over it. I loved that guy way too much.

  5. Ohh I’m definitely interested in checking out more about The Royals, it sounds quite interesting and I love TV shows that are full of lies and heartbreak. I seem to thrive on drama what else can I say?
I have heard about Jane the Virgin and Switched at Birth but at the moment I’m not really tempted by either of them. I seem to be episodes behind on all the other shows I watch but instead of trying to catch up I’m re-watching old episodes of favourite TV shows (at the moment it’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine!) πŸ˜€

  6. I love Jane the Virgin!! I need to catch up on the recent episodes though I already got spoiled and MY HEART. I have been putting off watching it because of that I think… πŸ˜‚ I haven’t watched Switched at Birth yet, though I’ve wanted to! And I’m going to have to check out The Royals as well. Lovely post! ❀ Thank you for the recs.

  7. I started watching Switched and Birth but only got a few seasons in. I was actually obsessed with it for a short period of time, before school took over and I had like no time left to watch it. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Jane the Virgin, and it seems hilarious, which I’m all for. This post will definitely not be helping my grades 😭

    1. You should definitely start watching it again, I’m sure you’ll get obsessed again in no time haha! Yeees Jane the Virgin is really funny, apart from some episodes (no spoilers there…) they’ll all put you in a very good mood. Hahahaha, sorry about that πŸ™ˆ

  8. I love JANE THE VIRGIN and SWITCHED AT BIRTH. It’s funny but I think they’re both so realistic in terms of character, especially the latter. I love that they focus on family and friendship just as much as they do on romance, if not even more. They’re diverse and wonderful, and I’m just really sad that SAB is ending soon. 😦

  9. THE ROYALS! Yes! I just started watching season one last month and I’m obsessed. It’s so dramatic and addictive and I love princess Eleanor πŸ™‚
I watched a few episodes of Jane The Virgin and LOVED it but then stopped watching for some reason. Must catch up soon!
Haven’t seen Switched at Birth yet, but it sounds like something I’d love!
