Bookish questions with a bit of sunshine

Good morning, good afternoon, good night, friends! I hope your week has been great so far, and that you are reading some lovely books. I’m finally back for some more regular posting and another lovely tag…

I was nominated by the sweet Louise @ Genie Reads for, once again, the Sunshine Blog Award, and Sush @ Fervently Curious. A huge thanks for these, and for the great questions I always love to answer. Because all of the questions are about books. Well, almost.

How was your day?

As I’m writing this, my day’s been pretty tiring, but it feels good to be back home, and my mind is swirling with blogging ideas.

TruthAboutForeverFavorite fictional book couple?

Oh, this is way too hard. I read and loved Wes from Sarah Dessen’s book recently, so…I would go with him. Oh, and his love interest, you ask? ME?

Compare your favorite book to a vegetable.

Hahahaha now THAT is an interesting question, hm… I actually went to look at a vegetable list online because my brains just went blank. I actually don’t have a book’s name in mind, but if it were a book I hated, yet with a gorgeous cover, it would be easy: I’d compare it to beet. LOVE the color. HATE the taste of it. So yeah. I kind of avoided the question there, didn’t I?

Do you wear glasses or contacts, or do you have perfect eye sight?

I wear glasses, which is kind of funny because I don’t need them all the time. I can perfectly see when I don’t have those, but I get terrible headaches in front of the screen. If I close one eye though, it all gets blurry. I’m a one-eye freak, haha.

What is the color of your eyes?

Dull brown? No, okay. They are brown like chocolate. Sparkling when I think about a night…with my book.

When you’re reading, does your face show your emotions or do you have a normal reading face?

Haha, I WISH I could have a poker face on ALL the time. But I have emotions, too many, and tears falling down my face. Especially in public. I don’t know why I keep reading sad books when I’m surrounded by people.

What do you love about books?

I don’t know if I should make a list or something, and I’m not sure you’d read it all, I could go on and on for HOURS. I love books because they are a tiny little world where you get to live a thousand tiny little lives.

What do you hate or dislike about books?

I really hate how people sometimes don’t understand how books are little babies and you shouldn’t put a hot damn MUG on it.

second chance summerWhat was the last book you cried over?

Second Chance Summer, by Morgan Matson. I ranted on the why and hows that book is beautiful in my review.

What do you like to do if you’re not reading?

Travelling, watching tv shows, EATING (but not so much cooking), planning my travels, writing. Oh, and blogging, commenting and talking with you guys!

Any weird talents like, being able to touch your nose with your tongue?

I don’t think so…I can freak out over a book for months. MONTHS. But that’s what everyone does, right?

Do you love travelling? Where all have you been so far?

I absolutely LOVE travelling, and I think it kind of shows on my blog, ahah. I have been lucky enough to travel with my family since I was little, so I can say I’ve been to a lot of places in France (my home country), and in the world. I’m not going to make a list because it’d be long, so you can check out my travel map!

Do you prefer e-books or physical books?

My love for physical books is ENDLESS. I can hug them and smell them and just, physical books, always. Even if I am running out of place to put them haha.

Do you buy books online or from a bookshop?

I buy most of my books online, because there aren’t any English bookshops close to where I live, sadly.

If you could have a super power, what would you choose? Why?

I want ALL the superpowers, seriously, haha. To be honest, I’d love to teleport, to time-travel, to be invisible…. I think if I had to choose, I’d pick being able to see that, everything turns out okay.

What’s your dream job?

This. Working with books, around books, talking about books all day long. In publishing, in a bookshop, I don’t know. Just, books.

What is your signature makeup look?

Ohh hm interesting question! I’m always putting on eye-liner and a bit of mascara when I’m going out. I love people who can put off some lipstick, for some reason I can’t seem to -or maybe it just bothers me, haha.

Which celebrity would you love to meet?

John Green? He’s a celebrity, right? I would love to meet ALL the authors I love. And the cast of Friends.

What are you currently reading?

holding up the universeAs I am writing this, I’m reading Holding Up The Universe, and it is VERY good, guys. I love it.

Do you like reading indoors or outdoors?

I love both, even if I read indoors most of the time, when I’m able to read in the sunshine, there’s nothing like it…until you get the book mark on your skin forever.

getting tan books

What’s the one thing/person that can always make you smile?

One thing: FRIENDS (the tv show. Couldn’t go without that one now, could I? Haha. One person: my sister.

Coffee or tea?

TEA all the way, all the time. I love tea, and I NEED to have tea like, all the time.

How was YOUR day? What’s the best thing that happened to you lately? Oh, oh, what if you tried and compare your favorite book to a vegetable? It is so hard.

What do YOU do when you’re not reading? Let’s chat in comments! 💬

  1. Imagine working with books AND having a tea kettle with you at all times. Favorite job ever. I’d never go home!!
Friends is my second name, so I’m your favorite and I can make you smile :p (what do you mean, I can’t lie?? Shut up!)
Now for girlie talk: I just bought a great gel eyeliner yesterday, it’s brilliantly awesome! I’ve been practicing for an hour, haha. I’m too tired to read.

  2. I would have a hard time thinking of a vegetable too. My dream job would be a librarian. My grandmother loved books too. She had said if she would have been a nurse, she would have been a librarian. I’m now obsessed with ebooks than physical books although I have alot of physical books that I need to read.

  3. YES #TEAMTEA Now I want tea haha (who am I kidding I always want tea). Being able to see that everything’s going to be okay would be a GREAT superpower. Think off all the stress you won’t have to experience haha

  4. Ohh I loved reading your answers for this tag. I really love Sarah Dessen as well; I think a lot of her couples, including Wes and Macy, were some of my first OTPs.
And oh my god someone put a hot mug of tea on a book! That’s just not right? I get way too overprotective of my books, I practically make people swear on their lives or their firstborn children they won’t damage them if I ever lend them one! 😀
Yes your love of travelling is well know by now, but I think so is mine (and everyone elses I guess) love of reading about your travelling adventures! 😀
Great answers for this tag! ❤

      1. I would say it was bad, it was just a lot of instances of me lending her books that were returned with creased pages and covers, DVD’s that were returned with scratches all over them, socks that were returned with holes and magazines that weren’t returned at all. After a while I just gave up lending things to her. 🙂

  5. Love your answers. These questions are so fun. 🙂 I’m also a book smeller. I love the smell of the bookstore. Some people try to tell me it doesn’t smell in there and I’m always shocked. I tell them it smells like home. Haha! 🙂

  6. I’m having an okay day. I did a hard but interesting project involving research about where people sit in the dining hall and now I”m really excited about doing costumes for the school play. But I’m really tired and I want to read but I have two quizzes and a test tomorrow haha. Hmmm, I would say that Daughter of Smoke and Bone is like pumpkin soup because it’s the perfect consistency, vividly coloured, and sometimes spicy 😉🍲🍲

  7. What a perfect tag for your return to regular blogging! Hello, sunshine!
I have lost count of how many times I’ve seen Friends seasons 1-4. lol It’s such a magical show and it never fails to cheer me up and still make me laugh.
    So many good questions!
The one about emotions showing on our faces while reading is hilarious. Umm, we’re book bloggers, so yeah, we’re a little special and different when it comes to reading books. Screaming, groaning, sighing, and crying are only the beginning…

    1. Awww thank you so, SO much, you are too sweet ❤ I lost count of how many times I have seen this show, as well. It's just too good, I never get enough of it, it always make me laugh 🙂
Haha, yes you're so right, I guess we're a bit special and different when it comes to books…and no one but us can understand the feelings we get when we read a book. 🙂 Thank you! ❤

  8. haha I get why you avoided the vegetable question- I have no idea why I would answer that! Funnily enough I get headaches if I wear my glasses too much! hahaha agree about mugs on a book- gah! The horror! I do the same with mascara and eyeliner- which is mostly cos I’m super lazy. Friends makes me so happy 🙂

  9. I know that it may sound weird for me to be recommending tea to you instead of complimenting your answers ( which are lovely by the way) but once I heard that you were a tea enthusiast just like me I had to recommend Barry’s tea. It’s to die for! I get it in my European import section in the food store so maybe they sell it in France????

  10. I love your answers! OMG, compare a book to vegetable? I wouldn’t know where to start… hmmm (thinks for 15 minutes straight) I guess I would compare the Morgan Matson books to a zucchini. Because zucchini reminds me of summer and so do Morgan Matson’s books! Yeah that’s as far as I got 😀
Also, I totally understand about buying mostly online because there are no English bookstores nearby. And a job which would involve working with books all day sounds like a dream job indeed!

    1. Haha thank you so, so much Lindsey! Right? That question is crazy, I thought about my answer for like an hour and didn’t even come up with anything. OHHH that’s such a good answer, Morgan Matson’s books always remind me of summer as well 😀
We really should own an English bookshop, this way we wouldn’t have a problem ahah 🙂 Thank you so much! ❤

  11. This was hilarious. 😛 I like how you deviated from the question about favorite books and vegetables. I wouldn’t be able to answer that too. I’ve wondered how you got your hands on books in France. Thought maybe there was a hidden bookstore with English lit somewhere. Great tag though! 🙂

    1. Thank you so, so much Lashaan, I’m so happy you liked reeading this 🙂 Actually, there is an English bookshop close to where my sister lives (about like 80 miles from where I am), so I’m always going there when I have the occasion, but since it’s not that often (or I basically ordered too much online before….) ordering online comes in a handy I guess 🙂 Thank you so much! 🙂

  12. This is so fun! I cannot compare my favorite book to vegetables because that isn’t fair- my favorite book is awesome and vegetables are…. not 😂 Also, that crying guy gif IS me while reading, so I feel you! Glad you are enjoying Holding Up the Universe, I want to read that one soon. And I love to travel too, it is such an amazing experience- I hope to be able to do it more, one day! This was so great, thanks for sharing it!! 😀

    1. 😂 😂 Indeed vegetables are far from being awesome haha, this was such a hard question. Holding Up The Universe was really, really good, I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! 🙂 Oh and travelling is one of the best things to do. Thank you so, so much for your sweet comment, Shannon! ❤
