Top Ten Tuesday (48) : Top Ten Books on my Spring TBR

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is Ten Books on my Spring TBR. Confession time: I don’t really make TBR for the month, I mostly go with whatever I want to buy at the moment, or whatever books my sister ordered and we can exchange. So, hm, I’m going to try and do this as accurate as possible, haha. Don’t forget to click on the title of the books to read their fabulous synopsis!

1 • Splintered, A.G. Howard

I’ve been hearing all about how wonderful this book is, and the synopsis, the cover, just EVERYTHING is like a call for me to read it.

2 • Scandal, Sarah Ockler

After falling in love with The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, I obviously need to add another book of hers to my TBR. And it’ll be Scandal, because well, what do you know, my sister has wonderful taste in books – just like me, haha.

3 •  Only Ever Yours, Louise O’Neill

That book sounds weird and creepy and strange and all that you want, and my sister bought that one too, and I’m going to steal it from her and read it, because I feel like it’s going to be GREAT.

4 • Radio Silence, Alice Oseman

After loving Solitaire from her, I really am looking forward to read Radio Silence. It’s about school pressure and I love that theme.

5 • Cinder, Marissa Meyer

It’s about time I hop on that hype train, I am VERY VERY late. But I’m running, and I’ll catch it, I promise. And hopefully I’ll feel right at home with you guys.

6 • The Raven Boys, Maggie Stievfater

Another train I’m very very VERY late to catch up, but I’m completely curious about that story, and I feel like it could be a hit. Or miss. Hopefully, a hit.

7 • The Yearbook Committee, Sarah Ayoub

I found out about that book on Jenna’s blog, and I am so excited to read it. I love a great contemporary, and this one seems right up my alley. I hope I’ll love it!.

8 • A Darker Shade of Magic, V. E. Schwab

Hello, hype, you’re BAD. Very bad. Yet I want once again to find out what you’ve got in your filled shelves and what makes bookworms so excited about this.

9 • Even If The Sky Falls, Mia Garcia

Cute contemporary YA ahead….move around, I’m coming for you, I know you’re the one for me .

10 • Me Before You, Jojo Moyes

YES, I am ready for all the feels. Or maybe not. But I have to read that book, because it seems so cute, and heartbreaking, and I’m definitely going to cry. That’s why I need to read it. #bookwormlogic.

Did you read any of those books? Which ones should I ABSOLUTELY read this spring? And you, how’s your TBR looking for this season? TOO MANY BOOKS, RIGHT. Let me know in comments! 💬

  1. You have so many great books on this list! I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed The Raven Boys and A Darker Shade of Magic, but I still really need to get around to reading Me Before You. I watched the movie trailer recently and it tore me to pieces, so naturally I need to experience it all again in book form haha happy reading! 🙂

    1. Aw thank you so much Holly! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed those books! I started reading ASDOM, I hope I’ll like it as much as you did 🙂 OH THAT TRAILER, it was beautiful wasn’t it? I admit it, it made me want to read the book even more! 🙂
Thank you so much, Happy reading to you too! 🙂

  2. Me Before You is also a book I want to get to before the film comes out, I watched the trailer the other day and it convinced me. I high recommend A Darker Shade of Magic, it’s one of my all time favourites!

  3. Great List! Cinder is an amazing series! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it. I haven’t read A Darker Shade of Magic yet but I’ve heard great things about this book. So, Let’s hope it lives up to all the hype. *fingers crossed*

  4. Great picks for this week Marie 😀 so many of these are on my favourites list.
Obviously The Lunar Chronicles is amazing! But I love Splintered as well, it’s a brilliant retelling and it focus on my all-time favourite fairytale, Alice in Wonderland.
Also A Darker Shade of Magic and The Raven Boys are on my favourites list as well! I can’t wait for you to read this books so I can hear what you think of them, I really really hope you love them all as much as I do!
I’ve heard a lot about Me Before You, my sister read and loved it so I’m kinda thinking I should check it out as well!

    1. Thank you so much! Somehow I knew you had read all of those books, ahah, you’re my ultimate book-advisor, haha 😛
I will tell you when I get to all of those books, I’m at 30% of ADSOM right now!
And Me Before You, I can’t wait for that book to break my heart, ahah. Maybe we can try and read it together sometime! 😀

      1. Yeah, they’re some of my favourites as well so, in my opinion, you’ve picked some goods ones to start with if your looking to branch out into the fantasy/fairy tale retelling genre!
Ohh, I can’t wait for you to finish ADSoM; it’s brilliant, and V.E. Schwab is one of my favourite authors so I can wait to hear what you think when you finish it 🙂
Yeah that’d be good! We can both be sobbing messes together by the time we reach the end.

      2. You’ll definitely have to let me know what you think as you start and finish all these books. And I’m really glad you like ADSoM so far, I loved the first one and honestly thought the second one was even better! It’s the sign of a good book as well when you’re just so excited to see what happens next!

      3. I will let you know for sure, you’ll be the first person I come to when I’m done with all of these books! 🙂 Ohh really, well I’m excited then! I had a bit of a hard time getting into it, but now that I’m reading, I’m realizing how different it is, and how much I enjoy it! 😀

      4. Ohh yay, I’m really excited to hear what you think of them all! And once you’re done if you need any more recommendations there’s plenty of books I can suggest! I think in ADSoM it takes a little while to build up the world and the situation but once it does the plot seems to really get started and I couldn’t put it down either!

      5. Well, are you looking for more like what you have in the list already (so more like ADSoM, or Splintered) or are there any other sub genres you want to start getting into?
One series I would definitely recommend is Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. It has beautiful writing, a doomed relationship, and although like ADSoM it is a little slow to start it gets so much better!
Also wait till you get to the second book, if your enjoying ADSoM you’ll love A Gathering of Shadows even more!

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Ohh, well for now I’d love to get more into books like ADSoM, Splintered etc,… I’m not very familiar with the sub genres, though, but if you have some great ones to advice me, I’d love that! 🙂
Ohh, I know that book, but only the name, I need to check it out… I really love doomed relationships, I don’t know if that makes me weird and crazy, haha 😛
        I can’t wait !

      7. Let me think about some books like those and I can come back to you with more recommendations. ADSoM is pretty much just fantasy but Splintered is a fairytale retelling fantasy and there are plenty of other fairytale retellings I can recommend to you. It’s one of my favourite sub genres.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is amazing, it starts slow but it gets so much better as the story goes along! I’m the same actually, as long as there’s a happy ending in the future I love it when couples have to struggle to be together! Just makes it worth while in the end!

      8. I’d love that, well, when you have time or anything, don’t bother too much searching for tons of recommendations 🙂 I really can’t wait to get into ALL of those books, I’m so excited like a child on Christmas day, haha. Well no, like me on Christmas day, I love this day hahaha.
Exactly! I love really deep and strong, yet very complicated and doomed relationships, I care SO much about those and they always make my heart bleed, ahah!

      9. I’ll let you get started on e ones you have on your TBR pile at the moment before suggesting a load more for you 🙂 and that way if there’s any you like more than others I can give you more specific recommendations 😀
Ohh Christmas is kind of a excuse to buy loads of books and not feel guilty about it! It’s my favourite holiday.
It’s not good reading unless your heart starts bleeding then. But I agree with you, it makes the relationship so much stronger when the two characters have to actually work and suffer to make sure their relationship survives!

      10. The next book is even better than the first, and I’m not the only one who thinks so so hopefully you’ll like it even better as well 🙂
I think the story starts quicker in the second as well, the world is already built up so you don’t need to read all about it again.
I loved the characters interactions with each other, and every scene with Rhys in was one of my favourites!

        Like

      11. There is so much more Rhys in the second book, I loved it more just because of that, and every interaction between Kell and Rhys was AMAZING! You seem to have so much control when it comes to what books you read next! I will pick up anything that interests me even if I have a ton of books I’ve been meaning to get to first!

      12. Ohhh, I CAN’T WAIT! Ahah, I do try and control myself, if I listened to that litlte voice inside of me, I would get ALL of the books all the time, haha. But I have a tight budget, so I always try and buy books, read them, then buy new ones etc. It’s sometimes hard, but for now it works 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      13. Neither can I actually, I’m so excited for you to read it so I can hear what you thought of it 🙂
I try and stick to a budget but I’m weak when it comes to books, I spend ages on Amazon looking at everything I want to buy and adding it to my basket. I am going to try and stick to a budget going forwards but it’s gonna be hard 🙂 there are so many amazing books I wanna buy!

        Like

      14. Oh yes, I’m weak, too, all the time I’m telling myself, “I’ll stick with no more than 4 books for this time”, and end up putting at least two more in my basket. It’s an addiction, haha, but well, I think it comes with being a bookworm. And blogging certainly didn’t help, I find new books every two seconds, haha 😛

        Liked by 1 person

      15. Yeah, because I buy off Amazon I have to order at least £10 worth to get free shipping and before I know it I’ve spent triple that on books 🙂
Oh I completely agree, I have brought and read and discovered so many amazing books since I started blogging, definitely not the best thin if your trying to save money is it?

        Liked by 1 person

      16. Yeah, the fees are annoying because it always makes me spend more money than I mean to at first! But honestly most times I do normally buy more than £10 of books in one go anyway so it’s not always a big deal. Jesus, I would love it is Amazon UK only had 1 penny of fees but then I’d probably spend even more on there 🙂

  5. I haven’t read Cinder either, and at this point I think I’m too lazy to HAHA. But I hope you enjoy it, and maybe then I’ll get on the hype train. 😛

And The Yearbook Committee sounds just amazing. Also this sounds really cruel but I mean it in the BEST possible way: I hope Me Before You breaks your heart because it definitely did mine. ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hahahha, oh, the laziness sometimes is here for some of those hyped books, haha.
This sounded completely normal to me, haha, I keep thinking that that book should break my heart, and I hope it will, because well, that means it’s just THAT good, then! 😀
      Thank you so much! ❤

      Like

      1. Oh, definitely! And then there’s the fact that SO MANY GOOD BOOKS are out there. I seriously sometimes wish I’m immortal just because I want unlimited time to read all the books I want to read.

Hope you enjoy it! I’m thinking about rereading it before the movie comes out. 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

  6. I picked up Me Before You for the same reasons! I enjoyed it. I also have the same feelings with Darker Shade, I kind of just have to know what’s going on with this book! 🙂

  7. I need to read so many of those books as well! Foremost Splintered, because I actually have that at home, but it’s too big to start the series before Lady Midnight, which I am going to buddy read next week.
I also want to check out The Yearbook Committee, Me Before You and the whole Lunar Chronicles.

    Liked by 1 person

      1. Well, you definitely can’t read Lady Midnight without The Mortal Instruments. Too many spoilers … unless you never intend to read The Mortal Instruments I guess …
But we had that discussion already hahaha you should read The Infernal Devices before The Mortal Instruments. At least that’s my opinion. OR Book 1-3 of TMI, then TID and then the rest of TMI hahaha

  8. Hehe, sorry(notsorry) for always adding new books to your TBR! The Yearbook Committee is fantastic though! And it’s got such a beautiful cover ❤
*gasps* YOU HAVEN'T READ THE LUNAR CHRONICLES YET?! You need to pick it up RIGHT NOW! They're absolutely amazing and such a fun series to read. You won't be disappointed. Also, same for The Raven Cycle!

  9. OMG we should read Me Before You together! That’s on my tbr because of the recent trailer (which did NOT make me cry…) and everyone is loving it?!

AND YES to ADSOM! I would also add Vicious, also by Schwab, to the list. (I liked Vicious more.) ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    1. OH I would love that! Haha, I added it on my TBR right after seeing the trailer, too…I’m so excited, but at the same time I don’t know how I will handle this book. Because I will probably cry, haha.
I just finished reading ADSOM, and I really liked it! I need to read Vicious, then, thank you! 😀
