Soundtrack to My Life Book Tag

Hi everyone, how are you? I hope your week is going well, so far. Because you know I’m very curious, tell me… What are you reading today?

Today, as every wednesday, I’m going to answer some questions, with a book tag…and maybe sing a little bit, too? I mean, this is the soundtrack to my life book tag, so I guess a little song is in order to go with that? You’re in luck, I’m quite a bad singer, so you’ll just get some answers in writing, haha 😉 Before, though, I will thank the wonderful Càtia for tagging me to do this. If you don’t know her, or her blog…well, what are you waiting for?

Opening Credits : Favorite Childhood book

the golden compassWith no hesitation, I’ll have to say The Golden Compass. Okay, I’m cheating a little bit, because this is not my favorite childhood book, but my favorite early-teenagers’ years book. That still counts, right? Plus, I’m sure my favorite childhood book must be something French, so you wouldn’t know about it, haha.

Waking up : A book that got you out of a reading slump

ignite meThis question is kind of hard, because as far as I can remember, I don’t have a lot of reading slumps… I would talk about the Shatter Me series for that one, and say that it’s one of those books that reminds me why I love reading so, so much (and words, too).

School : A book you had to read for school that you ended up loving

lord of the fliesI think I’ve already answered that question before, but I’m not sure…Anyway, I’ll go with the same answer, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. For some reason, I think the story of all those boys in their own little dystopia, made me curious about the genre.

Falling In Love : An author you love so much you want to read all of their books

looking for alaskaCan I be very, very obvious with that one, and go with John Green? If it’s your first time here, you probably guessed thanks to my blog’s name, that I love him as a writer, and as a person, too. I’d read all of his books, obviously. To be a little less obvious, I would read all of Tahereh Mafi’s books, too, and I’m definitely planning on reading ALL the Patrick Ness’ books, ALL the Jandy Nelson’s books, ALL the Moïra Fowley-Doyle’s books…

more than this shatter me i'll give you the sun accident season

Fight : Book with the best action sequences

sanctuary bayOkay, I’m not so big on the books with action sequences, reading all those contemporaries and stuff, haha. So if I had to choose, on the top of my mind, I’d say Sanctuary Bay, because DAMN, that book was CRAZY. I don’t know if those action sequences are the best, but they did make my heart speed up. I loved it.

Break up : A book or series you didn’t finish and do not intend to finish

pllI’m sorry, I had to strike that last bit, because I didn’t finish reading the Pretty Little Liars series, yet. THERE ARE SO MANY books so please forgive me. But I still want to know how this all ends. I can’t help it. I’m definitely intending on finishing this. I don’t know when, ahah, but I WILL.

Hanging With Friends : Book you think everyone else should read

awakenThere are so many books I loved lately, but I feel like I’m talking about those on a daily basis now, so, to spare you a little bit, I think I will ask everyone to read immediately the GREAT Awaken series. I don’t hear enough about this series, and I think that it’s really, really good. Go check it out!

Breakdown : Book that seriously affected you/had you crying your eyes out

vanishing girlsI was completely moved when I read Vanishing Girls. This book was so beautiful, and heartbreaking, and just, Lauren Oliver once again convinced me of her awesomeness.

Roadtrip : You favorite series (more than 3 books)

mara dyer 1Without a doubt, I can answer that question and say, the Mara Dyer series. It’s so weird, kind of creepy at times, terrifyingly wonderful, and Michelle Hodkin writes like a dream. Plus, there’s a certain Noah in those books that I can’t help but love. And Jamie is the best. And EVERYTHING is just so good about those books.

Flashback : Your favorite book from 5 years ago

the princess diariesWHAT kind of question is that, my memory is SO weak I can’t remember hahaha. I LOVED that series, it’s called The Princess Diaries, and I’ve read all the books…a while ago, now.

Getting Back Together : What book can you not stop rereading

looking for alaskaLooking for Alaska. I can’t not go with this book for that one, because well, I will forever re-read it, and love it even more every single time.

Wedding : A book that is really special to you

ugliesOhhh, that one is very, very hard. I think I would go with Uglies, because I’ve read this so many years ago, yet it made me fall in love with the dystopia genre. I loved the world-building, the wonderful yet scary idea behind that world full of beauty. I think that book will always be special to me. I’d love to re-read it, soon.

Moment of Triumph : Longest book you’ve ever read

harry potterNothing new here, I’ve already answered this question, and it’s always Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix who wins that one. Harry Potter,  this was such a big book full of love and magic.

Death Scene : Book or series you wish had ended differently

eleanor and parkI loved Eleanor & Park so, so much, it’s actually one of my favorites. I liked how it ended, but…it kind of broke my heart, too?! I don’t know if I’m okay with it, or not. If I could have changed that ending, maybe I would have.

Funeral : Book with the best or worst epilogue

ashes to ashesTHERE. With no hesitation, I can say Ashes to Ashes has the WORST epilogue. I really enjoyed that series…up to this epilogue. WHY did you have to do that. I’m still disappointed, and just, WHY.

End Credits : Who do you tag?

I’ve seen this book tag around, A LOT, so I’m not going to tag anyone to do this. If you haven’t done it yet, though, consider yourself tagged!

Did you read any of those books? Do you agree with my answers, or not? And, since this is the Sountrack of my Life book tag… what song would you choose for that matter? 💬

  1. Yay for The Princess Diaries! I have been trying to reread it before I get the new adult one, but I keep getting distracted by other things. Did you ever read The Mediator books? It’s another Meg Cabot series. It’s kind of a Buffy rip off but with ghosts instead of vampires. There’s an adult one of those coming out soon too.

  2. Ahh, I loved Mara Dyer so much! I think it’s pretty much my favourite trilogy, too. I love everything about it, so I’m glad you share my obsession, haha! 😀

I haven’t heard of the Awaken series, but now I’ll have to check it out! The cover is really pretty too <3. I think Ignite Me was pretty much the opposite or me – it put me into a reading slump! I missed the series so much, so I'll have to re-read them soon 🙂

    Thanks for sharing, Marie ❤

  3. Lord of the Flies! I had to read that book for school, too, and I was expecting to hate it (since I feel like almost everyone hates it?) but I thought it had a really interesting plot and was also really, really thought provoking. So glad you liked it too 🙂

  4. I’m a bit torn with liking Lord of the Flies mainly because of my ridiculous summative project I had to complete for it (and not jokingly, I had to play the part of Ass-mar Piggy because I do indeed suffer from asthma LOL).

I’ll be sitting on the side waiting for you to tell me about your Ness feels :)!

    1. Oh no really, hahaha that’s kind of infortunate indeed, I can understand you having mixed feelings about this story now, haha! I hope the project went well despite this, haha :p
You’re the first one I’ll come to when I finally start another Ness book. I know you’ll be proud, and I can’t wait! :p
      Thank you so much Joey!

  5. What a lovely tag! It was great to see your answers for it, and please, READ ALL THE PATRICK NESS BOOKS, he is an amazing author.
For me, my favourite childhood book was definitely The Hobbit – it brought my love for reading into my life and also my love for the fantasy genre. And it never gets old!

    1. Thank you so much Josie! I will read them soon, I actually received The Rest of Us Just Live Here last week, so I might start this one soon…and the others will follow 🙂
Ohh, the Hobbit! I read this one a while ago, too, and I kind of want to re-read it, mainly because I don’t remember the book -while I remember the movie well, but I guess that’s, logical? 🙂
      Thanks again! ❤

  6. I loved reading this! I totally agree with you on Pretty Little Liars because there are too many books and it ends up dragging a lot. However, I am desperate to know what happens! 🙂 I loved Vanishing Girls as well, it definitely made me cry. I haven’t heard of Sanctuary Bay but I love action books and I am adding it to my TBR list! Thanks for the recommendation!

    1. Aw thank you so much, I’m so happy you liked this post! 🙂 I want to know what happens too, so badly! Did you read all the books, or not? 🙂
YES, do read Sanctuary Bay, it was thrilling, mysterious, and kind of crazy at times. I hope you’ll love it! 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by! ❤

  7. Ugh yes to what you said on Ashes to Ashes! I wasted emotional investment from the first two books. LOL

OMG Marie, did you just say The Vanishing Girls is heartbreaking??! Ahh now my hesitation’s answered! I was thinking of buying it but because Lauren Oliver’s Before I Fall was just okay for me, I had doubts.

    1. Haha, me too! I mean, I enjoyed reading those, but…WHY that epilogue?! Without it, everything would have been so much better.
It IS heartbreaking!! I totally recommend that you read it, it’s so beautiful, it’s one of my favorite books! 🙂
      Thank you so much! ❤
