Waiting on Wednesday (23) : Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard

Originally coming from the Breaking The Spine blog, Waiting on Wednesday allows me to talk about a book I just can’t wait to get my hands on !

Don’t forget to tell me about the book you’re eager to read, this week, in comments!

Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard
Expected publication : February 9th 2016
Publisher : Harper Teen

The thrilling second book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen trilogy follows Mare Barrow on her mission to defeat the traitorous Maven.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness of her own heart.?

I really, really enjoyed Red Queen, the first installment of this trilogy, and damn…it’s one of those books that made me scream. I mean, that plot twist, I am still not over it! I can’t wait to get back into this chilling world, and see what becomes of Mare, Maven and Cal!

Did you read Red Queen, or not? Would you like to read Glass Sword? Why, or why not? Share your thoughts in comments! 🙂

  1. I loveddddd Red Queen, and am so excited for Glass Sword! I am a little apprehensive of what direction Aveyard will take the series, and I hope we can see more of the world (I felt that the worldbuilding in Red Queen was really lacking) and that she’ll develop Mare and Cal more!

    1. I really hope that, too! I’d love to learn more about this world, it’s so interesting, yet not enough explored in Red Queen. And yes to more character development, I want to know more about Mare and Cal (okay, more Cal, but I’m so intrigued by him)! 😀
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

      1. I’d love to learn more about Mare! I feel like in Red Queen, we saw her in the cusp of change. I’m super curious as to how she’s going to tackle her challenges. Tbh I’m interested in Maven too. Even though he turned out to be what he was, I hope what we saw at the end isn’t all there is.

You’re welcome! I loved reading your review; I just had to leave a comment! 😀

  2. I am with you, girl! It was your review on Red Queen that got us talking, and led me to follow you along with your blog name. NOSTALGIA. MEMORIES. The cover for GS, although I’ve seen it before, is hella kickass. February is not too far away, and I’m excited to get my hands on it.

  3. I am dying for this! ❤
I've seen around on Twitter how some places have gotten ARC copies already and I am so jealous!
I am also glad that all the novellas will be put together into one book! It'll be nice owning a physical copy of those. I know a lot of novellas usually just come out on e-book.

  4. I absolutely cannot handle how beautiful these book covers are *cries* I have been seeing US people get ARCs of this already and I am filled with envy haha! Hope it will expand on the worldbuilding of the first book! I want to see more houses, more powers!
