The Ultimate Book Tag

I’ve been tagged by Summer to answer all of these original questions, thank you ! Check out her blog, it’s really great! 🙂 Onto the questions now, because I know you’re all curious 😉

Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Not at all! In fact, I always make sure to have books for a long car ride! 🙂

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Right now, I’m thinking of Tahereh Mafi’s work. Okay, maybe it’s just because I am currently reading it, but well, it still counts. I’m blown away by her writing style, it makes me feel things, it’s so unique, I just love it so much.

Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Harry Potter series, of course. Three reasons, hm…can I say Ronald Weasley three times? No? Okay, probably because it’s the symbol of a whole generation, I love the world and all its complexity, and, Hogwarts seem pretty cool, doesn’t it? 🙂

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?

I carry a book inside of my every day bag, so, hm, everyday ? Basically, it holds what I need for my everyday life: pens, a notebook, a wallet,…

Do you smell your books?

Kind of…is that weird? I’m not going to reach out every book in a library and smell all of them, I promise. It just happens, I love the smell of a new book, or an old one, or, idk, I just love it.

Books with or without little illustrations.

Usually, I read books without illustrations, but I do enjoy it when there’s a little map at the beginning of some novels, like fantasy novels. Or, for instance, I loved the illustration at the beginning of We were liars.

What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

I’m thinking of Twilight? Read it when it was released so, it’s been a while.

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

I’m sorry, right now I can’t think of anything, except me as a baby holding on to my books like they are my treasure. It’s still the case today…

What is the tinniest book on your shelf?

Maybe the Catcher in the Rye? I’m not sure, I don’t have my bookshelf in front of me right now, and I can’t check.

What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Hm, the Chronicles of Narnia, probably (I have all of them in one big book), or His Dark Materials (same, I have the whole series in one big beautiful book).

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

I try to, unfortunately, lately I don’t get as many time for writing as I’d like to. But my mind is filled with stories, and I try to participate in Nanowrimo when I can, to get some writing done. It’s so hard, honestly.

When did you get into reading?

From as far as I remember, I had a book in my hands, so I can’t really tell a day, or even an age, I’ve had books from when I was in my crib… so I guess, probably 21 years, ahah.

What is your favourite classic book?

I absolutely loved The Lord of the Flies. I enjoyed quite well The Catcher in the Rye, too.

In school what was your best subject Language Arts/English?

Hm, I’m French, so I’m not sure I can answer this question, as we probably don’t have the same courses?

If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

Probably say thanks, and then give it away to another person who can enjoy it more.

What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while blogging?

I don’t really plan? I try to post regularly, and I kind of have a schedule, but it’s in my mind, and I don’t always follow it.

What is your favorite word?

English is such a beautiful language, but my favorite word has to be wanderlust. It accurately represents me, too 🙂

Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I’ll be honest, I googled those words. I’d say maybe, nerd, but I’m not sure.

Vampires or Fairies? Why?

Fairies, I’d say. I’m a little sick of vampires, as many others are, I’m sure of this. Fairies just seem a little more original, to me.

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

Shapeshifters, they seem pretty cool!

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Hm, neither?

Zombies or Vampires? Why?

There, I’d have to say, vampires. They’re less creepy.

Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

Forbidden love. Honestly, I can get sick of love triangles pretty fast, unlike forbidden love. I find it more appealing, in a book, and, I don’t know, more original, too, when it’s forbidden love. I know it’s not more original, but, I don’t know, I prefer it this way.

And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

Hm, can I pick both? I really like full on romance books, the ones with stories that leave you all dreamy, and filled with so many feelings. That being said, I enjoy action-packed books, with a few love scenes, too: when you’re so uncertain of the future of the characters, it makes reading more intense. I love that feeling, too.

I think a lot of the blogs I know already did this tag, so I’m not going to make nominations. If you didn’t do it already, feel free to answer those great questions, and leave a link for me, I’d love to know your answers! 🙂

  1. You’re the first person I’ve come across who likes the Lord of the Flies. I think I’ll have to give it a re-read. I had to google nerd, dork, and dweeb as well. I’ve heard the terms before but didn’t know their full meaning, other than nerd.
