Life has been… well, life, lately. You all probably noticed I haven’t taken too much time to talk about how things have been, personally, because I don’t feel like being a downer, here. My mental health hasn’t been the best, at all, in the past few months, but I’m doing my very best, so I’m sorry if I’ve been a bit silent, on here.
I wanted to share two highlights of May, though, both for safe keeping here and because well, I want to tell you all about these incredible moments that very clearly made my entire life this past month.
I saw Taylor Swift live in Paris (first night of the European Tour) and am still not over it.
Honestly, the whole concert felt like a dream. I feel like I genuinely blacked-out at Vigilante Shit, have no memory whatsoever of it?! I teared up while listening to All Too Well, 10 minutes version, live and shouted F- the patriarchy with 45 000 people around me. I shouted every bridge, I witnessed the very FIRST TTPD LIVE performance ever and, woah. I’m still not over that, to be honest, never will be, rewatching the Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me performance on a loop.
I think I could ramble on for AGES about this experience and I’m just, woah. I want to live it, again and again.
I met Rachel Lynn Solomon and am still not over it, either.
In case you don’t know it, Rachel Lynn Solomon is one of my favorite authors, like, ever. (oops. Taylor Swift reference, sorry). I first discovered Rachel’s work thanks to Our Year of Maybe, a book that shattered my heart into a million pieces. I absolutely adore it with all of my heart.
I found out she was doing a book signing in a small city in Belgium that’s like, about an hour away from where I live?!?!?! I couldn’t miss out on the chance to see her.
So I took my car and I went.
I waited in this adorable small bookshop. I was sweating by the time she came in, sweating by the time I finally got to her with my book. I was awkward and shy and probably rambled on for way longer than was necessary. BUT SHE RECOGNIZED ME, she actually HUGGED ME and she was the kindest and I’m uuuuuuuuuuuugh. Life made.

😭😭😭

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up
I managed to read 4 books this May! I’m pretty happy about that and I read some pretty fun books, so yay for that!

BETTER THAN THE MOVIES ☂️ This was such an adorable YA contemporary romance, made me a bit nostalgic, for some reason? Absolutely rooted for the characters, loved it, highly recommending it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
ANNA BRIGHT IS HIDING SOMETHING☂️ I was so intrigued by this female entrepreneur/The Dropout kind of book and, while it was entertaining to read, I somehow expected it to make a bit more of a splash. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
YOU, WITH A VIEW ☂️ This was so lovely. An adult romance ft. ex enemies, going on a road trip, ft. social media and finding what the heck you’re supposed to do as an adult. Excellent, highly recommending it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
THE DO-OVER ☂️ Another Lynn Painter! This was still super heartwarming and fun and I really enjoyed it overall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads challenge: 19/45 books
I’m still on track with my challenge, so that’s been nice!

ICYMI, I’m PUBLISHING my first YA contemporary book THIS FALL 2024 (yes this deserves all caps because I’m screaming).
If you missed my announcement post, you can read it right here.

This past month, I sent my first author newsletter, revealed my first book trailer (!!!) and saw a first sketch of my book cover (!!!!). It’s been eventful and yet, I still feel like I haven’t done much or moved on, very much? There’s just so, so much to do.

I’m still very much feeling that dreaded blogging slump, friends. I managed to put together a couple book reviews this past month and had fun writing them, even if I’m not quite feeling that spark back, just yet.
I hope this is all temporary and that I’ll find that little spark and inspiration back again, sometime. For now I’m just trying to take things as they come and hope for the best, I guess.
I appreciate you all so much! ❤️ Also please if you have any recommendations to get out of the dreaded slump, here for your advice. Thank you!!

oh my gosh!! Congrats, on seeing Taylor live and the book being published!! I tried to get tickets to Taylor this fall but none of us even got the chance to buy them! She came to my city last summer the day after my DUE date with my second son. I had to miss out because I just didn’t want to chance it. haha. I’m going to follow you on here and on instagram (booksarethenewblack)! 🙂 Have a lovely June!
