Monthly Reading Wrap-Up
April has been a slower reading month, for many reasons, I guess. I’ve been busier, I’ve been tired and just, in a slight reading slump, I’d say, to go perfectly with my shitty mental health lately? Anyway, I don’t want to dwell on that (in case you haven’t noticed the “in real life section disappearing here for a bit). So let me share what I read this past month!

THE BLACKWOODS ☂️ I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while, because rich Hollywood families is my thing. I had a lot of fun with this, even if I kind of expected there to be a little more drama, in some way? Still, a really entertaining read overall! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
PANDEMONIUM☂️ Continuing with my re-read of the Delirium series and I just love it so much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
REQUIEM ☂️ The last one in the Delirium series! I adore this trilogy and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a unique YA dystopian story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodreads challenge: 14/45 books
Still on track so far, so I’m not doing so bad!

ICYMI, you can read all about my big writing news right here!
I’ve been working on my very first author newsletter and I’ll send it THIS FRIDAY, so if you don’t want to miss out, subscribe now!
There will be fun news, like what’s been happening with that book, I’ll share my BOOK’s TRAILER as well, so… yay!
I’m really scared and nervous okay.
Otherwise, I’ve been working on finishing up my author’s website, on trying to learn a little more about it all and planning the next steps. It’s been a wild journey so far and I’m both eager and nervous to share more!

Well, needless to say, I’ve been in the biggest blogging slump of my almost 10-year career. It doesn’t feel thrilling to admit it, but well. Between life and my writing projects, I haven’t taken the time to blog as much as I used to.
Let’s also say it: I haven’t felt inspired or that little spark, to pay too much attention to it, either.
I love this little platform too much to give it all up, though. I maybe just need a bit of time to properly get back to it and get that little spark, back. In the meantime, I still wanted to write this little wrap-up to let you all know about my silence, to keep you updated about my reads and my writing journey, for those of you who are interested.
I appreciate you all so much! ❤️ Also please if you have any recommendations to get out of the dreaded slump, here for your advice. Thank you!!

I’m sorry to hear you’re still feeling low, Marie! Let’s hope that you’ll start feeling better as the sun will be more present now! (or should be.. hopefully) – it would make absolute sens you’re not feeling like blogging. Just rest & take care of yourself! xx
Thank you so much Kristina, that means so much <3 <3 I hope that May will be kind to you, sending you so much love!! x
I also had a slow reading month, must be something in the air!
Definitely! I hope May will be better for both of us! <3
I wish I could give you inspiration to get you out of your slump, but I fear I’ve fallen into one, too. ☹️ I’ve been thinking about taking a mini hiatus for the month of May to keep the pressure off because I have 0 content. Life has gotten super busy and slightly stressful lately that I’m barely even reading, it hurts.
BUT I do look forward to all your book related content, I’m so happy for you!! 💜 I hope you have a beautiful May, Marie!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that 🙁 I hope that May will slow down and I’m sending you all the positive vibes. You got this! <3 <3
Thank you! I hope so, too, but I’m sure it’s going to be just as busy! 💜
I just got a nonce error, going to try to comment here. I read the Delirium books back in the day. I liked them, but remember being a little disappointed with the ending. Good luck with your book and I hope you have a fantastic month!
Oh that is weird! I’m getting this comment, thank you, Sam! <3 I have such fond memories of Delirium, I think that plays a lot in my enjoyment, as well.
Thank you so much! I hope May treats you well <3
I had slow reading month but it was a busy month in life. Now that my kid’s summer vacation started I have even less hope to read more in May. I hope you can get out of slump pretty soon. Wish you a great May.
Ohh but yay for some lovely time with your kid, I hope that May will be bright and lovely for you both! Thanks so much!! <3
I’m so sorry you’re having a tough time right now, Marie, between life struggles and blogging slump. I think something that’s helped me when I’m slumping is giving myself permission to post less, post differently or change my standards because life is different from when we started blogging a decade ago. I hope you’re able to find some kindness, too!
Also, I am so excited for your author newsletter!!! 😍
Thank you so much, Nicole, appreciate it so much. I hope that May will be kind to you, and thank you for all of your support!! <3
You as well, Marie!! You’re amazing! 🖤
Sending lots of love your way Marie (and to Nyx). Hope things pick up soon xx
Thank you so much, this means the world <3 <3
Ahh I’m sad you’re in a blogging slump but I think it’s only natural when you’re busy with author stuff. I can’t wait to check out the author site and see all the upcoming updates <3
Take care, Marie!
Thank you so much, this means the world! I hope May will be kind to you, sending you so much love <3
Marie, I was SO STOKED to receive your newsletter in my inbox! (I forgot to reply to the email so whoops, I guess I’m sharing my thoughts here!) I saw the trailer and am sooo excited. I remember having a romantic-travel phase and am so excited to get back into that. 💖
So sorry about the slump though! I had a 6-year-long reading slump and I discussed on my blog how I got over it, though our situations may be a biiiit different. 🥲 Are the rereads not working for your slump? 🥺 Anyways, no worries if you’re not feeling up to it or blogging! There’s definitely a lot going on in your life right now, and that’s okay. 😭
Ahhh thank you so much, you’re too kind Aimee! This means so much 🥺
Re-reads have been wonderful for my slight reading slump, hoping to do that a bit more this year, actually. It feels so comforting to get back to old favorites! I haven’t found that comforting, back to-it feeling with blogging, yet, unfortunately, but I hope I will soon. Thank you so much for your kind words! And I hope May will be wonderful to you!! <3
Sorry to hear that you haven’t had the best month, I feel you! I hope May has better things in store for us ❤️
So excited for your book trailer!! I’m already looking forward to this Fall 😊 I think it’s understandable that blogging might be a bit slower now that you’re focusing on your novel – I wish you all the best luck 💕
Thank you so much, Caro, I hope that May has been kinder to you so far, sending you so much love <3 <3
Aww I’m sorry your mental health has been shitty; definitely can relate. 😔 But you did read three books, and that’s definitely a win!
It feels super weird seeing the Delirium colors in their new versions and not the original ones with a face staring at me. 😂
Sorry you’re also getting with the biggest blogging slump; I personally find it’s related to my mental health so I usually dial back on posting to the absolute bare minimum, which is usually just wrap-ups. Sometimes I do a wrap-up every two months instead of every month depending on how I’m feeling, and sometimes I even do it every three months – definitely don’t force yourself to blog if you don’t have the energy, though!
I will say, mine was more related to work-related burnout and that snowballing with the rest of my life, so the moment I got laid off in February, it was basically a “Get out of Jail” card for me in a way (or at least the beginnings of one). So yours might be different!
(I don’t do a hiatus post though; I don’t know, I feel like if I do that then I’m just going to drop the blog completely and forget about it, you know? And I know full well I don’t want to give it up either.)
Here’s to hoping May will be better for you, both in reading and in mental health! <3
I’m so sorry you can relate to this 🙁 I hope that May has started out nicely for you, I’m sending you all the good vibes and always here if you need to chat 💖
Ugh I’m so sorry to hear about work and I really hope things will get better as you go. It’s a little bit of everything for me, but I’m just like you, I don’t want to announce a hiatus because I don’t want to drop this little place, either? So I relate a lot to what you’re saying, here. But we got this and I hope the upcoming weeks and months will be kinder to us both. Sending you so much love! 💖
Have a great May reading month.
Thank you so much!! 🙂
Sorry you had a rough month! I hope you are having a better one now! I think it’s perfectly normal to have blogging slumps- I’ve had so many over the years- especially when you’ve got a lot on! Don’t worry, it’s normal for it to ebb and flow. And I’m glad you’re enjoying rereading the delirium series- I reread it last year and really enjoyed it ☺️💖
Thank you so much! <3 SO happy you enjoyed re-reading it, as well, such a great series! <3
