Hi friends! ☀️ I know it’s fall and October, but I WILL NOT get rid of that sunshine. Trying not to okay.
I feel like everyone around me is excited about fall being here, fallen leaves and colors and colder weather and warm blankets and… I’m just not because I’m depressed this time of the year every single time. Anyway. September hasn’t been really exciting and I wish I had more to share here, but I just don’t? Working routine and exhausting feeling with the days getting shorter and honestly that’s just it.
October is my birthday month and hopefully it will be better! It’s on the 15th, if you’re any curious, by the way. Honestly I’m just like Joey right now but well…
Also, I never ever did this before, but well, if you ever want to give me a little gift or something and support me and my work for my birthday, do know that I have a little wishlist right here and a ko-fi account just as well. I’m very very thankful for all of your incredible support every single day. ❤️
I’ve been reading.. a lot, apparently, I don’t know how or why this happened, but I’m pretty happy about it? Some mixed reads this month though, some I absolutely adored and others I felt disappointed by.
📖 Books I read
DAISY JONES AND THE SIX ☂️ I am officially OBSESSED with Taylor Jenkins Reid’ books. That is all. 📖 read my full review
THE LIBRARY OF LOST THINGS ☂️ What a fantastic debut, I kind of fell in love with it. The bookish setting, the swoony romance, the mother-daughter relationship, the relatability, loved it.
THE BEAUTIFUL ☂️ I’m… I’m disappointed, because I expected more after loving Renée Ahdieh’s previous books. I felt like this one was slow and just didn’t made me… feel it overall.
DARIUS THE GREAT IS NOT OKAY ☂️ I will protect Darius with everything I can because I adore him and he deserves the world OKAY I LOVE THIS BOOK. 📖 read my full review
WE SPEAK IN STORMS ☂️ What a promising debut. Beautiful writing, intriguing premise with magical realism and ghosts and past and present and friendships and no romance and just, a great debut.
FANGIRL ☂️ So.. I finally read this book. This is now one of my favorite books of all times it was just too relatable and too good okay I LOVE THIS WITH ALL MY HEART.
- Goodreads Challenge: 57/60 books 🔥 13 books ahead of my reaching challenge ahhh. I’M SO CLOSE.
- Year of The Asian Reading Challenge: 7/10 books !
📖 Currently reading
I’ve been low-key aiming to finish my first draft of my current WIP before NaNoWriMo (In November, for those who are not familiar with it) and…. Okay, so I don’t want to be overly enthusiastic here, but I might be able to do this????
I’m over 37K at the moment and I’m so happy with everything I’m writing. It’s messy and will need a lot of revision and definitely a lot more fleshing out and such, but I know it’s a story that matters a lot to me and I’m pretty proud I manage to write it, even if sometimes it’s hard and pretty personal, too.
I wrote almost every single day in September, sometimes only 100 words, sometimes 1,5k, but I wrote almost every single day and well, I’m really really happy about that.
- Words written: 21 714 (I don’t know who I am.)
I think I slowly need to accept that I can’t blog hop the way I used to and, despite the guilt I feel about it all, I hope no one is mad at me. I just don’t have time anymore and, to be honest, I’ve been focusing more on my writing and…. I’ve been really finding my grove and loving it and I don’t want to lose that.
I’m still blog-hopping, I’m still visiting blogs and supporting all of your lovely work as much as I can, I just can’t continue to exhaust myself the way that I did. It’s also better for me and I’m sorry.
Anyway, moving on. I had an okay-month, blogging-wise, I think? Moments where I felt a little like I’m not doing good enough, but I‘m doing my best and focusing on doing what I love so… I guess it’s okay, too.

Sorry to hear that you get depressed around this time of the year, Marie. *hugs* I hope October is an amazing month for you. It’s been so long since I’ve read Fangirl, I really want to reread it. I loved it so much and I’m happy to hear that you did too! 🙂 That’s amazing that you’re so close to your Goodreads challenge! I was ahead for awhile, but then I got into a reading slump in September so now I think I’m only 1 book ahead or maybe even not ahead anymore, ahhh. Hopefully I can catch up again in October. ❤

Summer is where my heart is ❤ I totally get how you are feeling about the fall. All of September I was moody, in a slump and totally dreading all the darkness that is winter that will be here before we know it. I'm relying on the pumpkin lattes, warm sweaters, and Twix bars to get me through till the spring lol! And that is amazing that you are going to finish the first draft of your WIP!!!! KEEP GOING!!!!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!! 😀 If you love what you're writing, then it's not work at all and that is how it should be

Thanks for featuring my post Marie and …for the other links as well! I think you hada good month! And I get you about fall as I am tired and less beat up in Fall. I commute and what kills me is leaving the house when it is still dark and coming back when it is dark once again! That’s why I usually end up taking a three weeks off work in November.

We don’t have fall here, but I’m excited for the colder season because it’s a relief from the dry and hot sun we’re used to. It’s like heat wave 24/7 here! So far it’s not raining yet, which is worrying because it’s usually the start of rainy season already… but it’s started to get cloudy in the past couple of days (still hot and humid tho!) so fingers crossed! I’m so sorry you feel depressed this time of the year, anything I can do to help? 🙂
I just finally finished my internship report and it felt soooo good! Now I need to write a bunch of emails for thesis placement, but after all the work in September, at least I get to cross something off of my list.

marie, why am i not surprised at all that you’re a fellow libra? i think i was already 90% positive about it since i remember you saying that in previous posts, but like, yes, ofc, you’re a libra. anyway! i hope october treats you well despise the weather!
i’m glad you enjoyed daisy jones so much! i read it back in august and the audiobook was confusing at first, but after i picked up on all the characters, it flew by! taylor jenkins reid is phenomenal at writing settings, even though her books don’t have a lot of descriptions. i have no idea how she does it! i hope she continues to write about celebrities in the future, because i think she did it really well with seven husbands & this one.
i’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the beautiful that much. i’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about it since it is the next vampire YA book, but vampires are not really my favorite creatures, so i wasn’t super excited about this one. and if it’s a slow fantasy, then i’m less excited after hearing that.
i’m sure you’ll complete your goodreads challenge this october! that’s so exciting!
and ALL THAT WRITING!((#)!)! yohoo! i’m wishing you luck on finishing this first draft by november. i’m sure you can do it! you wrote 20k words in september, like how impressive is that!
and i think it’s totally fine to be focusing on your writing more than in blog hopping. marie, you’re such an amazing person in this community and makes everyone feel welcomed & great, but do not overwork yourself for it! you don’t have to feel guilty about not blog hopping as much as you once did. your health & happiness should always be the priority!
even though i did a lot of exciting this this september, i felt in a really bad mood throughout the whole month. i just want the year to end already, but it’s only october! i’m trying to keep myself busy so that the weeks can go by faster, hahah.
wishing you a lovely october, marie!

I loved Daisy Jones and admire the author so, so much, I just can't wait to devour all of her books. I'm a little sad about The Beautiful, I'm not necessarily a big fan of vampires, but I adore Renee's debut The Wrath and the Dawn and was so excited to read more from her 😦
Thank you so much!! I'm kind of happy at how much I've been writing lately and really hope to continue down that road, even if… well it means less blog hopping. I like finding my creative self again, too. ❤
thank you, this really means a lot. I tend to get way too anxious about not being as present as ever, even if I'm probably the only one that notices, haha.

I know, I'm just too late to the party on that one, but I'm glad I finally joined it! I adore Fangirl with all my heart ❤ I hope you'll love Daisy Jones as much as I did, I was SO fascinated by it, I couldn't stop reading ❤
Thank you so much, Lois ❤ I hope you'll have a beautiful month ❤

Thank you so, so much, Sophie!! ❤ and thank you for all of your support, it means the world ❤ I'll definitely think of you when I need some beta readers, I might work on a second, a little more polished draft before giving it out to beta readers, though, I think haha 🙂
I hope you'll have a beautiful October! ❤

I’m sorry to hear the change in weather makes you feel down and I always try to hold onto something which makes me feel good in hard times– so I always have something to look forward too. And at least October is your birthday month so I wish you a wonderful birthday on the 15th!! *sending you lots of cake*
I really need to read Daisy Jones and I’m so excited to get to it!! I’m glad you adored Darius and I’m very excited for the sequel!!
It’s wonderful to hear about your writing progress– it is a lovely feeling when you get into it and feel so productive and you are doing amazing and writing every day is an achievement and you should be proud of yourself!!
You don’t have to feel sorry for not blog hopping as much as you used to, I’m just glad you are focusing on things you enjoy and putting yourself first– it makes me happy!! You will always be a lovely member of the book community whether you choose to blog hop or not!! ❤
Thank you so much for linking my post and my sisters (I told her and she said it made her blush and she is very thankful and speechless) and I'm really happy you liked reading both of them!! ❤
I wish you a wonderful October and hope your writing continues to go well!!

Thank you so much for your positive words, Sophie, this means the world ❤ I'm trying to stay positive even if the season makes it hard at times, thank you ❤ and thank you for your sweet words and support, this means so much. I'm having a little bit of a hard time not feeling guilty about it all, but I try to do my best to take better care of myself I guess 🙂
AH of course, I loved your post and your sister's post so much (if she feels like writing more with you, I AM HERE FOR IT!) ❤
I hope you'll have a beautiful October ❤

Oh wow, your birthday is so close to my bestie’s !! Hers in on the 19th 🙂
Yep, I definately feel you .. I usually am a lover of fall, but this year it’s just, so much cooler !! I don’t like. Canada are still getting this wierd super cold/random hot days still – Thanksfully I still haven’t gotten ill yet!
Be sure to take extra care of yourself, Marie xx
Don’t worry, love. We all wanna bloghop as much as we can, but there’s millions of posts out there — we can’t possibly read them ALL (sadly, just like books..). Even if you can only do 2-3 per day, it’s still something!

I love Fangirl, so I’m glad you finally read it and really loved it too. I still need to read Daisy Jones and Darius the Great. I love the Fall and October, but November/December can kick up my depression some so I get what you’re feeling.

Despite not being able to spend as much time blog hopping, you’re still doing a great job in the book blogging community, because you’re always so lovely and supportive! I understand how you’re feeling right now, I’m also not doing so great in the blog hopping department, but please don’t let that discourage you from your writing! If that’s what’s making you happy right now, then I’m happy!
It seems like you had a good reading month, congrats! Unfortunately, September wasn’t my best reading month. I’m really interested in reading Daisy Jones, though.
Also, happy birthday! (what a coincidence that I’m blog hopping and it’s your bday hahah) I hope you have a day as fantastic as yourself, because you deserve it! ❤
Happy October ^^

Excellent work with your writing! That definitely takes priority over spending time online, so I applaud you. I see so many books you’ve read that I really want to read too. Darius the Great might be made into a movie, so I’m getting a copy soon as I always read the book first. Hope your birthday was fun! Fall is also not fun for me as I don’t enjoy the darker days and cold.

I heard that yes I am SO excited about seeing Darius as a movie! I hope you’ll get a chance to read the book soon and will love it 🙂
Thank you so much and I’m so sorry fall isn’t your time, either. We can get through this! ❤
