Top Ten Tuesday (58) : Ten Books I Feel Differently After Time Has Passed

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Brokeandbookish. This week’s theme is Ten Books I Feel Differently about after time has passed. I decided to talk about books I find myself thinking about those more fondly than before. I’m not going to give a description to all of these, because this would only lead me to more fangirling, so…I have decided to give myself a little challenge. Three words for each of these books, max. Or okay, one sentence, because I love to talk. Let’s go! If you want to discover the wonderful books, click on the title for a link to Goodreads!

1 • Cinder, Marissa Meyer

Oh, all of my expectation were met.

2 • I’ll Give You The Sun, Jandy Nelson

In one word : PERFECTION.

3 •  The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, Sarah Ockler

Slightly fluffy, mostly gorgeous, completely fallen in love with the characters .

4 • The Accident Season, Moïra Fowley-Doyle

Eerie, weird, unforgettable.

5 • Emmy & Oliver, Robin Benway

The childhood best friend trope = my one and only love.

6 • More Than This, Patrick Ness

One hell of a rollercoaster. Just, WOW.

7 • My life next door, Huntley Fitzpatrick

Glorious and everything I love in a contemporary.

8 • The Mara Dyer Series, Michelle Hodkin

THREE WORDS : WHAT IS HAPPENING. Still not over that book.

9 • We were liars, E. Lockhart

Plot twist alert : IT HURTS.

10 • Vanishing Girls, Lauren Oliver

If you’re looking for me, I will be there, sobbing in a corner.

Okay, so that was really fun, actually… I should do that more often now.

  1. Yes Cinder! I would definitely say all my expectations were met with this book, it possibly exceeded them all as well! Same with Jandy Nelson, I wasn’t sure what to think about this book before I started, contemporary isn’t my favourite genre though it’s a close second, but I’ll Give You the Sun blew me away. I definitely DEFINITELY agree with you when you say perfection!
Some of these books I still really need to read; More than This and The Summer of Chasing Mermaids are both on my to-read list and I’m definitely intrigued by The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, I may have to check that book out!
Great picks for this week Marie 😀

    1. I’m so glad you agree on these Beth, thank you so much! ❤
I am so excited for you to read these books, especially More than this, because damn, that book was kind of incredible, I'm still not over it, and I read it a YEAR ago. OHHH, I would love it if you gave Mara Dyer a try. That series is so great, it's mysterious and slightly creepy, yet the characters are endearing, the writing style is absolutely gorgeous, and the suspense is just crazy.

      1. That’s all right, they’re both amazing books!
More Than This is definitely on my to-read list soon, along with all of Patrick Ness’s books I’ve yet to start (which is pretty much all of then except The Rest of Us Just Live Here) and now I’m really excited because that’s high praise if you read it that long ago as well!
I do like slightly creepy books! And honestly I’ve seen the Mara Dyer books around everywhere but I’ve never really picked them up before, but if you love it then I’m willing to give it a try, you’ve recommended some great books to me in the past!

      2. Well, I just hope I won’t give you too high expectations then, ahha. I just can’t wait to know what you think about it! 🙂
The Mara Dyer series has some mixedd reviews especially for the last book, but I’m one of these thinking that the ending was just brilliant. Can’t wait for you to read it 😀

      3. I’m sure you won’t, and I always wait a little before starting recommended books, gives me a chance to take everything in under my own expectations (really hope that makes sense!)
Well I’m willing to give any book a try, hopefully I love it just as much as you did though (and hey you were right about the ending to We Were Liars being amazing so it’ll probably be the same for the last Mara Dyer book too!)

      4. And the more you think of it the more you start to pick up on things you may not have. I find when I go to write a review straight away I’m still caught up in really enjoying or really not enjoying a book, waiting a few days just gives me a chance to think more logically on what I read 🙂

  2. We Were Liars has definitely improved as time has passed for me as well. I think it was overhyped for me when I first read it which reflected in my opinion. However, a reread would be challenging if you know what’s coming. Great list!

    1. Oh I can understand that, overhyped books really do no good, sometimes :(. Exactly. I keep thinking about re-reading it, because it was so good, yet, with knowing how it ends, it kind of takes off the whole impact of the story, I think…if I’m making sense, ahha. Thank you so much Fiona! 🙂

    1. Ohh, you should! More than this was my first Patrick Ness book, and it kind of set up high expectations for all of the other ones. It was unexpected, in every way, addicting, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I hope you’ll read it 🙂 Thank you so much Sarah! ❤

  3. Great list and I love how you limited it to one sentence each! I think that would be quite a challenge for me too when I love a book so much 🙂
I just added Emmy and Oliver and The Summer of Chasing Mermaids to my TBR, they sound amazing!

    1. Thank you so much! 🙂 It was so hard, there are books I love so much I could talk about them all day. But I wanted to try it that way, I’m glad you like it 🙂
Ohhh yay, this makes me so, so happy! Please let me know when you read those, I’d love to know if you like them 🙂

  4. I never did get to Vanishing girls and now Lauren Oliver has ANOTHER book coming out- gah. I’m behind… 🙂

I like the 3 word descriptions, that’s a great idea.

    1. Oh, it’s only in September…you still have a few months to catch up…and I hope you will, Vanishing Girls was so good! 😀 Thank you so much for stopping by Greg! 🙂
(Oh, and your blog link in your profile doesn’t work, thought you’d like to know 🙂

  5. So happy to see My Life Next Door here! I really liked it too. Have you read The Boy Most Likely To or What I Thought Was True? Huntley Fitzpatrick is fast becoming my insta-read contemporary author, though I didn’t really enjoy WITWT that much. 😛

    1. No, I haven’t read those books yet, I hope to read The Boy Most Likely To soon though! I can’t wait, even more knowing that you like her books so much! What didn’t you like WITWT ? I can’t remember if you put up a review for it? 🙂

      1. I’m excited for your thoughts on TBMLT! I liked it quite a bit, and contemporaries generally don’t impress me that much. 🙂

Hmm, I haven’t written a review for WITWT yet but it just felt very… messy to me? Like there were too many things happening that the main plot isn’t super clear, and I also didn’t like the characters as much as I loved the ones in MLND or TBMLT. :/

  6. YES TO ALL OF THESE. I’ll Give You the Sun was absolutely fantastic, and the plot twist in We Were Liars blew my mind. Emmy & Oliver and More Than This were amazing too. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous choices! ❤

  7. I need to read so many books! Especially The Summer Of Chasing Mermaids, because that just sounds amazing, especially since you recommended it. I loved your one-word summaries! They were really concise. I’m impressed you managed to write so little about so many feels 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Shar, you’re so sweet! ❤ I struggled ahah, because there are so many things to say about books I loved, !I'm glad this worked out okay! I hope you'll be able to read The Summer of Chasing Mermaids soon -as summer is coming…it's perfect!-, I feel like you could love it 🙂

  8. Totally agree with Mara Dyer (still need to read the last book), We Were Liars and Cinder!! Some of these I still need to strike off of my TBR list!!
