Never date your best friend
Always be original
Sometimes rules are meant to be broken
Best friends Dave and Julia were determined to never be cliché high school kids—the ones who sit at the same lunch table every day, dissecting the drama from homeroom and plotting their campaigns for prom king and queen. They even wrote their own Never List of everything they vowed they’d never, ever do in high school.
Some of the rules have been easy to follow, like #5, never die your hair a color of the rainbow, or #7, never hook up with a teacher. But Dave has a secret: he’s broken rule #8, never pine silently after someone for the entirety of high school. It’s either that or break rule #10, never date your best friend. Dave has loved Julia for as long as he can remember.
Julia is beautiful, wild and impetuous. So when she suggests they do every Never on the list, Dave is happy to play along. He even dyes his hair an unfortunate shade of green. It starts as a joke, but then a funny thing happens: Dave and Julia discover that by skipping the clichés, they’ve actually been missing out on high school. And maybe even on love.
I will admit something : I absolutely love stories with a boy-girl best friend. I know it’s cliché, but it’s my weakness. So, obviously, when I read this synopsis, I couldn’t not fall in love with it already. Two best friends trying to play with all the clichés in high school ? A list of rules, a game starting as a joke, but we both know how this is going to end ? There is not one thing I don’t love about this synopsis. I’ve been meaning to read Let’s get lost, by Adi Alsaid, for a long time now, and this book just added to my to-read list, too ! This author definitely has stories that catches my eye.
I temporarily broke my habit of buying books this week by going to the library. I got Simon and the Homo Sapiens, The Kiss of Deception, Rebel Belle, and a couple others. I’m currently reading Ru, but I am beyond excited on starting these library finds! (And you’re not the only one, I love reading about sweet romances between best friends as well!)

Aw, that’s so great, I should do that more often, but unfortunately, libraries don’t have any of the books I’d like to read 😦 (living in France and reading YA in English is hard sometimes)
Great choices! I’ve heard a lot about all of those books, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about them 😀 And so glad to see I’m not alone, if you have any recommendations for books like that, please share! 😀
Thanks so much for stopping by, Summer! 😀

I looove books about best friends too!! There’s just something about them that’s extra special compared to other kinds of relationships. If you read The Mortal Instruments, there was a point when I rooted for Simon and Clary instead of her and Jace. Haha. This book you blogged sounds exciting so I’m definitely adding it on my TBR list 😀

Thank you so much for stopping by, Trisha! 😀
